  1. Of course, the Cubs led the NL in quality starts last year. You saw these decisions coming before the season?
  2. Jackson should replace Russell for his next start.
  3. It was pretty obvious a long time ago. It was obvious our top 3 pitchers would suck and our next 2 would get hurt? What else you got Kreskin? Z and Demp for sure, but I don't see Garza. He's been pretty awesome. That being said, your point stands. Well I meant collectively since everyone (except for the omniscent like gooney and Truffle (I HOPE WE LOSE EVERY GAME FOR A GOOD DRAFT PICK!)) figured our top 3 starters were locks to be above average at worst. And while Garza's peripherals have been phenomenal, they haven't translated to success on the mound as of yet.
  4. It was pretty obvious a long time ago. It was obvious our top 3 pitchers would suck and our next 2 would get hurt? What else you got Kreskin? It was obvious this wasn't a good team, exactly how they would get there was always in question. But pitcher inneffectiveness and health concerns were always at the top of the list with this crew. It's also not the only reason they have been outscored by....., really, 35 runs already? Ouch. It didn't help that the new manager needs to keep guys going every outing from opening day until they die. That was kind of unexpected. Our starters have a 6.39 ERA. You were concerned our starters would have a 6.39 ERA on the season? You were concerned we'd lose 2 of our starting pitchers after their first starts??

  6. Next person to say it's inevitable that we'd/we'll suck this year is getting cut.
  7. The JaMarcus Russell and Darrius Heyward-Bey picks disagree with you. At least Carolina picked somebody who had a great year. The Raiders picked a QB who had two good games and a WR who couldn't catch passes. The Raiders won 8 games last year. The Panthers might win 8 games total in the next 4 years. The Raiders also set an NFL record for most consecutive 11+ loss seasons. Over that time period, the best coach they employed was Norv Turner. They also hired Bill Callahan, Art Shell and Lane Kiffin, and just let go of a coach who led them to their highest win total since the 2002 season. And if the Raiders didn't play a total of 10 games against the two worst divisions in the NFL last year, they wouldn't have gone 8-8, as evidenced by their 0-6 record against the The fact that Bill Callahan was employed by the Raiders 6 years ago means absolutely nothing to me. I did forget that they fired Cable though, so I may concede that point. I'll still take the Raiders win total over the next 3 years vs. the Panthers.

  9. For the Panthers? They don't need to try to tank for next year. They're quite possibly the worst football team since the expansion Bucs.
  10. The Clippers are a better organization than the Panthers? In what single way? Blake Griffin.
  11. The Pirates, Clippers, and Raiders are all better organizations than the Panthers. Can't wait til they draft Luck next year.
  12. Are the Panthers the worst organization in professional sports? Berman AND Gruden??? [expletive] this.
  13. Can't believe you of all people are just finding this out.
  14. I don't think Newton is a better NFL QB than Jimmy Clausen.
  15. Hard to trust anything Oneiri says about our prospects too much. I haven't trusted anything he's said since I found out he was white.
  16. WHAT!?! You mean it matters that he spent four years at Daytona and Tennessee before he started hitting? Heresy! He'd be one of the best hitting catchers in the game right now! I wish I had spread my Chirinos incredulity farther on the internets so I could go on an I-told-you-so spree. Seriously though, you're gonna leave your wife for Pavano.
  17. If you have no problem with contraction, then that's a different story. Fans will view the relegation system as another way to separate the haves and have nots. The divide between big and small market would grow, and the B squads would never compete.
  18. Those #s are really misleading. While there have been 3 completed seasons, there have only been 2 completed off-seasons (when transfers come) Crean has already locked in 2 more transfers with this commitment leaving him at 5. And the Indiana situation was far from the standard college program. There were 7 scholarship players on the team the first season, leaving less possibilities of transfers due to the lack of players period as well as lack of playing time (what I'd imagine to be the #1 reason behind transfers) not being an issue. IU had a total of 13 scholarship players in the first 2 seasons Crean has been there. 3 of them came to Indiana with 2 years of eligibility (Dumes, Jobe, Rivers) 3 out of 10 four-year players have left Indiana since Crean's started, and at some point after this season the numbers for his first 3 years will move to 5 out of 12 which is far from average. And that's not even counting David Williams.
  19. Weird, I just checked his stats an hour ago because I read about Cerda and always associate the 2 for some reason. At least Archer has a high ERA and TT's favorite player this side of Carl Pavano is putting up a 459 OPS.
  20. Good to see you guys have no issue with Crean's strategy of leaving kids out in the cold.
  21. This leaves them 2 over in 2012. Delaney's not gonna like that. There's a rule against over-verballing? News to me. No, which is why I said he's not gonna like it as opposed to saying they can't do that. We're 7 months from signing day and IU is still recruiting for '11 and '12 while already needing to dump one kid just to legally sign who they have committed.
  22. We picked up a 5th year senior transfer from Bradley, so we only have one opening for this year(which will probably go unfilled, leaving 2 for '12) With the monster '13 class, I'd be surprised/disappointed if we didn't roll one of the two to 2013.
  23. Well, whatever; he lost a [expletive]-ton of money because of Madoff. Actually, if the stories are true the Wilpons made money with Madoff and may have helpd perpatrate the scam so he could get cash from banks. And I'm not sure 'we're successful businessmen who had no idea something was screwy with this return on investment" is going to hold up in court.
  24. Which will kill the franchise. The Rays already can't hold on to their players, if they were in a B league from the word go they'd have been contracted by now.
