  1. Variance. There's no history with these players performing woefully in the clutch, it's just one of those things. It'll even out some, the problem is we've dug ourselves a hole.
  2. Clutch hitting and starting pitching will improve from dead cat bounces.
  3. Wow, that is uninspiring. You may be hesitant to go back to the same well, but I like Gregg Marshall.
  4. Um, are you perhaps confusing Tom Ricketts with this guy? http://www.nndb.com/people/410/000022344/don-rickles-pubshot.jpg Actually, that's Don Rickles.
  5. Who reports on Shaq??
  6. You don't think the Celtics had the momentum after easily beating the Heat in game 3 as their PG came back and played with a dislocated elbow??
  7. I don't think you're tested if you win in 5. Like I said, maybe its because you are good. But maybe its because the Celtics just aren't. So if the Heat were worse, they'd be tested, but since they're too good, they haven't been?
  8. If they were that easily rattled they probably wouldn't have won an overtime game 4 after the Celtics had all the momentum.
  9. And it's not.(Or it already was)
  10. If the Celtics aren't a test for the Heat, then what are the Pacers and Hawks for the Bulls?
  11. I don't quite understand why Pena is batting ahead of Soriano vs. a lefty.
  12. I don't see why not. He's already proven his stuff with a record TWO perfect simulated games. did you invent that joke yourself I don't even understand why simulated games would help him make the all-star game.
  13. Considering we were the only chance to beat the Heat, I wouldn't be taking pleasure in this if I was you. The Celtics were the only team in the playoffs that could beat Miami?????? Yes :( Go winner of Bulls/Hawks.
  14. COMEDY!! They're probably holding off on starting Castillo to not take the spotlight off the weather.
  15. Can somebody point me in the direction of where this 900K guarantee is being reported? A google of Doug Davis contract(and checking Cots) reveals a few different answers. Cots has it at 900K in the minors. Rosenthal has it as pro-rated 900K in the majors. Nowhere have I seen a report saying he will receive a guaranteed 900K once he's promoted in the majors. I also haven't seen it clarified that he would receive the pro-rated 900K from the second he hits the majors through the end of the season. ETA: He did have an opt-out on May 30th.
  16. It would be more logical to save money and bring up Jay Jackson, someone with a future with this team. Unless there's nobody quite ready right now and they don't want to start the FA clock on a guy with an actual future. Jay's been having some real struggles for a while and probably isn't ready to step in and pitch well yet. I agree with you in part, but isn't 900K a lot of money for a guy to make 2-3 starts? I understand he adds pitcing depth afterword, but for that money, is he that much better than even Ramon Ortiz? It's not necessarily a lock that both Cashner and Wells come back according to their current timetables, and Coleman hasn't exactly been knocking it out of the park in his starts. I'm not that well-versed in minor league contracts, if Davis were signed to the standard minor league contract for a vet, would he be looking at a guaranteed league minimum payout? I really don't think this is a big deal.
  17. I hate the idea of taking a guy who's an elite hitter at one end of the defensive spectrum and moving him to the other end so as to make him average.
  18. We ate 80 million to make Carlos Silva go away, and you guys are worried we're gonna keep Davis in the rotation due to 900K?
  19. The quote I found attributes it to Quade and is talking strictly about while Soto is out.
  20. Context? That sounds a lot like, Castillo will start within the next few days, rather than he'll be our everyday starter soon.
  21. Well yeah, we're getting Pujols regardless, but this might cost us an extra 2M/Y
