Maybe I'm looking to much into it but I see Ramirez having a big influence with the kid and Ramirez has been fairly quiet throughout his time here. The media likes a good quote and in their collective minds it is a waste of time to try and pry out quotes from an ESL kid while there are plenty of fluent veterans and/or fluent English speakers; Dempster, Campana, Byrd, Pena, Wood and Garza. And Ramirez was here when the Sosa relationship blew up, so perhaps he's always tried to avoid it and now is steering Castro in that direction. Ramirez has also been public enemy #1 or 2 of the hack sportswriters in Chicago. It wouldn't shock me if he had no love for the buffoons in the press and has steered Castro the same way.

Yeah I'm as excited as the next guy to see the Cubs spending on amateurs, but somehow giving 3rd round money to a 10th round talent that's been taken twice in the 20's just doesn't seem like smart business. I don't understand why you guys keep bringing up where he was drafted as if it's relevant.

I thought his family seemed a little crazy after he left UI. Didn't his uncle say some sort of crazy stuff about the draft? Well, I meant his parents. His uncle did say some loopy stuff, which was then refuted by his father saying he didn't speak for the family. ETA: His uncle said he was better than Harrison Barnes.

Agreed, can't wait to see Kansas and Mizzou rot away in obscurity along with Iowa State. You guys are weird. This is guaranteed to deliver actual changes at some point. Going through all the rumors and winding up with Nebraska, Utah, and Colorado switching conference? Feh.

Richmond has a stable household, had parents that said all the right things, didn't seem to be using him as a meal ticket. He had issues in high school, but nothing to this level(at least what was reported). Have to wonder what went wrong.

Going solely off of dWAR (which is probably dumb), I'd hope Jackson would be a better defender than Monday. Rick Monday was really good offensively. I'd be really excited to have him put up those numbers for league minimum the next 3 years.

Maybe I don't get it because I've never been a big golfer, but the Tiger Woods worship is really bizarre. I mean really, golf isn't exciting unless he's winning a bunch of tournaments?
