I don't understand this. He went after the right guys correct? And there's nothing to suggest he wasn't willing to pay them enough to entice them right? The main reason it seemed like Smart would be willing to consider Illinois is due to his preexisting relationship with Thomas. Not sure about Stevens but I don't see any evidence that Stevens chose to stay at Butler because Illinois didn't present themselves well enough. Maybe he failed behind the scenes, but there is nothing I've seen to suggest Thomas is the reason Smaty and Stevens declined the Illinois job. Ahhhh, but you're neglecting to address the poop in his pants.

Right just like I always bitched during the MJ bulls era, oh wait I enjoyed the ride. Cause bitching about every little thing when your team is great is ridiculous. C'mon dude. These threads were a [expletive] of bitching during Illinois games even when they were good. Don't pretend like you were some reasonable, balanced fan w perspective then. I think it's still different. Illinois doesn't have national titles, you have 3. Again it's like the Bulls I watch their playoff runs differently since they've won titles. Kansas has like 9 national titles. For recruiting purposes.

Top 5, IMO ... I'm honestly having trouble thinking of a more memorable moment if that had gone in. Jordans shot against Russell, ruths called shot, Buckner ball, fluties hail mary, that's all I got. Duh Laettners shot. Jordan's shot isn't even close. I'm also not sure how Laettner would be more memorably when it was an elite 8 game from 15 feet compared to the championship from halfcourt.

Smith can't get Parker for us, from what I understand he promised he'd bring Parker with him. If he does that's an NCAA violation. Gee Robert, I wonder why you aren't a serious candidate. Wrong, he's not allowed to have any of his kids if he was a video coordinator or one of those fake jobs Kansas hired all their recruits parents for. If he's one of 3 assistants or a head coach he can do whatever he wants. That said the only person with less qualifications to be the head coach at Illinois is Eddie Johnson.
