  1. They really need to or else they're in a pickle. The Cardinals don't play in Chicago any more this year, so if they don't play tonight or tomorrow that means St. Louis would need to come back to Chicago to play a make-up double header on a mutual day off. There are only two mutual days off remaining this season. They could plan the game for the end of the year and hope it isn't necessary.
  2. Matt Murton gets more infield singles than any non-fast guy I can remember.
  3. Why did I not know there'd be a Mr. Bean movie?
  4. I'm sure that an editing mistake is why they forgot to include "for" at the end of that sentence :D I was gonna make that joke.
  5. This is really oversimplifying things, and I'm only following on gameday, but that's a bad swing by Fielder. Every single pitch he was working away, away, away, so you roll over it and ground out to 2nd? You've got a 3-1 count and you're chasing one on the corner at best?(And it's only 3-1 cause you chased another pitcher's pitch on 2-0)
  6. I wanan have all the Reds' babies
  7. Hardy, pinch hitter, Weeks
  8. Could've gone to pretty much any RH hitter and left Griffey in the OF next inning. We've gotta realize that this isn't a must win for the Reds where all the stops are gonna be pulled out. I was personally kinda surprised they hit Valentin for Jorgensen even. the reds(edit) haven't had a "must win" in years. they are still obligated to make the moves necessary to try to win everyday. i suppose they thought their best option was hamilton and i disagreed. They also have to do what's best for their organization, and allowing Hamilton to see big leauge lefty pitching is part of that. Fred McGriff '02 was a better hitter than Hee Seop Choi '02, but it didn't mean Fred McGriff should've been starting all those games down the stretch.

  10. Jason Ellison and Mark Bellhorn
  11. How can a GM so obsessed with acquiring bullpen arms have such a horrible bullpen?
  12. Frick'n hamilton
  13. Insurance plz. Ya know, since your bullpen is terrible.
  14. Valentin's career #s as a righty 213/.290/.276 Additionally, you had Griffey and Hatteberg on the bench, you know it's gonna be one of those 2 hitting for the pitcher so the lefty should be coming into face them anyways. Real poor job by Yost.
  15. Put it away Griff!
  16. IN PLAY RUN(S)
  17. Valentin in for Jorgensen. 1-0
  18. Valentin plz.
  19. Nvmnd. Dunn walk, Conine single 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Encarnacion up.
  20. Hatteberg plz.
  21. BOOOO GARDENHIRE Pulls Johan for Nathan. Johan's final line 17 Ks through 8.
  22. Sosa has the only 2 hits off of Johan.
