Randy Johnson was pretty worthless for them too. And I sure hope he wasn't the GM who signed Russ Ortiz to that multi-year deal either. Byrnes did not sign Russ Ortiz. I kinda liked the Johnson signing, and he was damn good for them before getting predictably hurt. -
Bingo, a better MSU team lost bad there recently, and I could see it happening to us too.

Yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic, as I said I'm just selfish. Good to get the KU/UI good vibes taken care of now before basketball season gets into swing.(But we really don't seem to hate you guys anymore, cause that would take focus off of burning down the state of Indiana.

It might have something to do with UM winning the Big 10 more recently. Or Andy's just wrong. Glad to know that he's bitter though. What with his ties to Illinois and all. And again, it's not just Iowa, it's McGee doing the same thing against Mizzou(throwing an INT in the end zone as they were driving for the winning TD. It's Kyle Hudson dropping a punt for no apparent reason to give UM an easy score and the lead. And yeah, I know every school has these things, but FFFFFFFFFFf

Now this is what I actually think is the reasoning behind this. Hendry in his infinite wisdom thinks DeRosa is more valuable as a supersub/bat off the bench than as a starting 2B. Sure the numbers will fall from 2nd base with Matsui out there(or maybe he doesn't even realize that, and in typical Hendry fashion is taking his best numbers, 304 batting average in the playoffs, and assumes that's his full year line), but having DeRosa's ability to play any position is too valuable to waste him playing everyday. And like last year where he was the ironclad backup plan for 3B if Ramirez didn't sign, (cause honestly what's the difference?) DeRosa is also the backup plan if we miss on our RF targets. (I use these things a lot, probably to the point of unreadibility)(sp?)

That doesn't happen anymore, guy. That's exactly my point. I wouldn't pay ANYONE playing today that kind of money. I bet you'd pay zombie Ty Cobb that kinda scratch.

Now THAT's pessimism. I can at least say with good confidence that Pierre won't be a Cub next year. And Jenkins would probably be no more than a 2 year deal. But yeah, we're gonna be fun bad, unless Lou has some great polish for this turd.

Mark DeRosa's gonna be our starting RF. This is awesome. The bench is gonna be Blanco, Ward, and 4 middle IFs.

That's an average Mark Grace year, and you'll have a hard time finding a bigger Grace hater on this board, but he was a good ballplayer.

His AA #s would probably vault him into my top 10. A lot of it is just based on trusting the scouts though, which is probably dumb on my part.
