  1. I'm really gonna be torn if they wind up buying out Sampson or suspending him and letting Dakich take over. (As I stated earlier, I'd be happy if they gave the job to him because I don't see him as a guy that will make IU any sort of powerhouse.) In order for him to keep the job after being interim this year, they'd have to have a decent finish, and I'd rather Indiana lose every game. But I don't want to see Sean Miller wind up at IU if they lose every game. Decisions...
  2. I agree regarding Lickliter. I don't think he's a realistic choice.
  3. Pancake Bunny http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/lolcat-funny-picture-mario-cat.jpg
  4. I don't know how you can say IU returns a solid core next year when they're losing what are clearly their 2 best players off a team that hasn't beaten anyone. They won't be a disaster, they should make the tourney(barring transfers should some bad NCAA news come down) but I don't see them much better than middle of the pack Big 10 next year.
  5. I really hope not. Everyone says his wife hates the cold weather. Hopefully she has enough of a say. I'm pulling for Dakich. He'd be better than Davis, but I don't see him as any great threat to make IU a consistent power.
  6. thebiglead.com reporting Sampson to be fired on Friday.
  7. Didn't IU actually tie on the 3? Well yeah, but they don't win without it.
  8. Karma overload for IU tonight as they lose on a bank shot 3, 1 week after winning on one.
  9. So Illinois finally beats a team with a pulse and now you're awful talky. ND loses to UConn 84-78 despite a Herculean effort (32/17) by Harangody. Not a bad loss, because UConn never loses at Gampel Pavilion, but god, I wanted that one. You said so yourself how ridiculous it was that these 2 teams are on national TV while ND/UConn was relegated to ESPNU. Implying these 2 along with DePaul are better than Illinois, Iowa, Penn St., Bama, and South Carolina is pretty bold. And I can't stop talking about how much the Big 10 and SEC suck this year. You act as if it's some great insult to say that 1/4 of the Big East is crappy. 1/4 of every conference(on average) is crappy. 1/4 of every conference(again on average) are top tier. That was my only point that saying the Big East has a ton of teams up top is misleading because they're drawing from a pool of 4 more teams than any other conference. Of course they're going to have more top teams. Instead you reactionarily responded by defending dogbleep teams like St. John's and Rutgers.(beating Nova at home doesn't make you some sort of threat in your home court.)
  10. Oh, and Greg Paulus may be my least favorite college basketball player of all time.
  11. Big East showing off how they only have 2 horrible teams as (apparently not terrible) St. John's takes on Cincy in an epic battle.
  12. Daddy Death Threat(and others) weigh in.
  13. The Big East is really good. I don't think anyone has ever said otherwise (though with annexing teams to get to 16 overall, it should be). I'd much prefer Dakich as interim to McCallum if it comes to that. Neither should be long-term options, though same goes for Davis. McCallum does come with his son, a point guard for Bloomington High School North that will likely be a top-30 or so prospect. I'd think after this, that IU wouldn't be worried about hiring a coach based on their ability to score a prospect. Dakich would be fine by me. Re: Big East, you touched on it, having so many teams in a BCS conference makes it tough not to have a bunch of top teams. It also makes it tough not to have a bunch of bottom teams as well. Counting up the # of top (whatever # fits your criteria) teams and going off of that is misleading. The Big East has more terrible teams than any other conference too.
  14. #2 schedule + #341 luck = much better than their record. Not top 35 like Pomeroy says, but I wouldn't want to face this team in the Big Ten Tourney.
  15. Take what I said with a grain of salt, I'm not hearing that from anybody beyond one guy.
  16. Something like 19 in a row against Minnesota. Best part of the game was Tisdale and McCamey's play. The light is no longer an oncoming train.
  17. I'm hearing Sampson's gone. Paid through the end of the month, nothing more.
  18. Trent Meacham is 5-5 from 3s(6-6 overall). It would be nice if next year he had a few of these games against top opponents. EDIT: And I do think he will if only because we'll have Jamar and Legion(for half a year) to take the pressure off of him. On the current team, he's the only true outside threat, so it's not difficult to keep a man on him. Even so, he's had quite a few open looks against the good teams and just clanged it up.
  19. Hahahhaha. EDIT: Sorry UK fans, I don't even particularly dislike UK, besides the obvious history with Rupp, but scores like that always make me laugh. Vandy still isn't very good.
  20. So Illinois up 6 at the half against Minnesota. Any Illinois fan wanna tell me how the next 20 minutes will go?
  21. They can win the damn big ten and the BTT and I won't call them the best team in the conference.
  22. I've been calling it all year. KU is a real good team, but they aren't special. I have never seen them as a Final 4 team at any point. I dont think there are any "special" teams in college basketball this year. Memphis is the closest one, but them playing in a weak conference could bite them. The tourney this year is very wide open. UCLA is special. They just gotta get their heads out of their asses.
  23. I got hosed.
  24. Wasn't even the worst call of Villanova's life. '05 tourney screams out.
  25. My favorite Dusty move may have been how when a sub played, he was slotted into the same spot as the guy he replaced. When Sosa was out in '03, Troy O' Leary came out there in that 3 spot every game. Great stuff.
