  1. Like I said, I trust our management team. Things have just shaken out differently than most have expected. How so? I really thought Sandberg, Francona, Bobby V and Martinez would get jobs before Ventura, Matheny and Sveum. So things have shaken out differently than YOU expected, not for "most" here. Oh, so YOU saw the Ventura and Matheny hirings before, say, Martinez and Sandberg?

  4. Both Theo and Dale preech the same thing Ryno gets blasted for. Some other interesting facts: 1)Sveum has been passed on twice for the managerial job in Milwaukee. Kinda scares me but in Theo and Jed we trust. 2)Both Sandberg and Dave Martinez, whom many considered hot choices for manager jobs have yet to land one. While Ventura, Matheny and Sveum, all of whom were not on most peoples radars have jobs.
  5. Lots of strip clubs in Dallas.
  6. Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien In response to Kaplan's Buerhle jersey pic: "Buerhle coming to the Cubs is like hair growing on your head."
  7. I think when the "old school" guys talk about this they mean a player should never dog it or pose for a HR and it ends up being a single, etc. Errors are part of the game and they understand that. ok, so what do you want when they do dog it? do you really think you're entitled to an apology? sorry, but it reeks of "that lazy mexican doesn't DESERVE to be playing major league baseball when there are so many scrappy white guys from georgia or whatever that run out pop ups, and the mexicans are just rubbing it in the faces of those that DESERVE to be playing in the majors by not understanding/appreciating what they have been given." No, an apology is ridiculous. I do not expect it, nor should any fan. We should, however, expect professionals to be just that, professionals. We should expect them to know "game situations" and adjust their approach accordingly.
  8. Nor did I realize you were literally Constable Rabbit.
  9. Or making excuses for Soriano. I'll go with that.
  10. Clearly you're watching the cheers re-runs.
  11. I'm willing to bet you can't cite 2 instances of this. Are you kidding? I can't remember how many times Brenly has said "aww, geez" in the background when Sori has done it over the years. He will then comment about it on the replay and basically call him out for it. Specific instance? Maybe not. Do I remember it happening on more than one occasion? Yes.
  12. It also means not trying to throw a guy out at home when he is 3/4 of the way there, miss the cutoff man and allow the runner to take second because of the stupid decision to try and throw the runner out at the plate. Soriano is notorious for this.

  14. He basically came off as a bald Ryne Sandberg. Well, on to constructing the team, which is more important.
  15. Playing the game hard, the right way and respecting it is very cliche. :hello:
  16. Quade's dome does not hold a candle to Dale's.
  17. @thekapman David Kaplan Check out my new profile pic of Mark Buehrle in a Cubs uniform. The prospect has to be terrifying to @ryguff and @chuckgarfien. 3 hours ago http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/1644472821/buehrle_reasonably_small.jpeg
  18. Levine weighs in on Prince following Sveum and I liked the comments from Jerry Hairston Jr. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/7231/will-sveum-bring-fielder-with-him
  19. So, what, he's going to flip out and leap out of the dugout and start waving guys home? Lee Elias playground confirmed this.
  20. So, what, he's going to flip out and leap out of the dugout and start waving guys home? Lol. No, I do not care. I just find the sour grapes pretty funny.
  21. Sosh posters are saying Dale is wavin Wendell part deux.

  23. It's official now! Ok, on to Prince, please.
  24. I think Maddux was the guy they really wanted. Sveum was option 2.
