  1. So you have arguably the greatest second baseman of all time that played for our team, made the HOF, played the game as hard as anyone and yet all you do is blast the guy? He is easily on the top 10 list of all time Cubs players and you hate this guy? Wow! You don't have to like a player just because he is good and white. I promise. Andre Dawson was my favorite Cubs player. Next.

  3. WHAT A GREAT LEADER He definitely left all the dirt out on the field. Never took any of that with him. Yea, leave out what the Hawk said about him as a teammate and player..
  4. He is saying Ryno is, which is kinds funny when your model to compare him is Carlos Zambrano. He is? Yes, he said Ryno is a me-first jerk. Again, hilarious when the model you are defending is Z.
  5. When did he say Z was a great teammate and not a me-first jerk? He is saying Ryno is, which is kinds funny when your model to compare him is Carlos Zambrano.
  6. So we agree: Ryne Sandberg and Carlos Zambrano should be evaluated similarly as teammates. Umm, no, we don't.
  7. ............and that makes him equal to Z in what way? Not equal, worse. People say Z quit when he said he retired, but he didn't really as it was just an emotional outburst. Sandberg actually followed through on quitting on his team like the cold calculated me-first jerk that he is. Me first jerk? You mean Z, right? Punch Barrett? Check Yell at DLEE in front of his teammates for (gulp) not getting to (diving) for a ball down the first base line? Have hissy fits and verbally blast the player on the field when errors are made behind him? Yes, yes, Z is clearly a model teammate and not a me first jerk. L M A O
  8. Exactly what I said. Some therapy is in order for some of these "classy people".
  9. Comparing Z and Ryno is about as funny as it gets. Lets see what Z has to say at his HOF speech. Oh, wait.
  10. It's okay to quit on your team as long as you do it quietly. (also it helps if you are white) And you did not blame your teammates for your own problems. More specifically to Z, being a crappy pitcher and blaming everyone else.
  11. Lots of Sandberg hate on this board. Some even are in their glory that Dave Martinez slept (allegedly) with his wife. Pretty sick. Quite honestly, you'd thing Sandberg played for the Cardinals the way he is blasted on here.
  12. He also quit on his team in the middle of a season and really only had a 14.5 year career. Would you want Zambrano managing the Cubs? Comparing Z and Ryno is quite comical.
  13. Aside from Ryno winning a world series with our biggest and most hated rival, nothing. And if that happened, the Cubs will be haunted with it forever. That said, I fully trust Theo and Jed to make the right move here. If they feel there is a better candidate, you trust they will get the right guy. Not only that, it's only an interview at this point for Ryno. The only thing I do not like about this is that it has the potential to blow up if Sandberg's team wins before the Cubs do.
  14. Go get Dave Martinez if Ryno is out. And is it at all possible to lure Girardi away with a year left on his deal? If not, Bobby V, Francona and Bowa come to mind.
  15. Kaplan with his idiotic question: "Jed, many good baseball men come here and never realize until after they get here what they have gotten themselves into. Do you realize what you have gotten yourself into here?" Jed: "I have heard that but all things come to an end so will this and I want to be part of putting this (103 years) to an end." \:D/
  16. Ok, first off, Sullivan has no neck and looked very troll like in studio. Secondly, and I found this very telling, is that Jed mentioned being able to steal bases and manufacture runs in Wrigley. Says the team needs to get more athletic. Ryno, your 2012 Cubs are waiting.
  17. Well, that's false. So we have a person who has previously commented on how he views the game and how he wants to manage, what he believes in, etc. Then, that person follows through on said thoughts and by all accounts, indeed manages that exact way in the minors. Now, one would logically assume that he wouldn't completely change his beliefs, even in the majors, given the fact that said beliefs don't even have much to do with player development in the first place, and in his view, deal with winning (which would be his major league goal as opposed to development). One could make an argument that he wants a job at any cost, and would agree to change his minor league style to simply get a job, despite it conflicting with how he said he views the game of baseball in the first place. But instead of realizing that's unlikely, though possible, you seem to state it's extremely likely with the "false" comment. See where there's a perceived problem? So if I drove a Nissan Maxima and then drive a Lamborghini, I am going to drive the Lambo the same because I drove the Maxima first? The players will be different, the situations will be different and most of all, it's not the minor leagues, where teaching the game is more prevelant than at the major league level. And most of his "views" on the game are him wanting players to play hard and the right way, which I am not sure where the problem is in those comments.
  18. If it does not matter that he does them in the minors, then why the critisism? Can't have it both ways.
  19. Funny thing is that those not in favor of Sandberg come up with his HOF speech and other comments he has made as evidence not to hire him. "Play the game the right way"= How dare he say such crap! "He has no Major league experience"= Not ready, needs to be a bench coach first. Is this in the MLB manager handbook and mandatory? Nevermind that he has won and is getting ringing endorsements from many in the game. "He will bunt over runners (when need be) and have them play fundamental baseball"= Oh, we can't have that. God forbid. The bottom line is NONE of us know how he will manage at the MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL. But to say he has not earned a shot based on the above is laughable at best.
  20. Steve Rosenbloom for GM! Seriously, his columns are getting worse and that is saying something. As if Theo needs YOUR advice, DBag. 21. The Song is about getting it done one day. This is hardly a somber song. In fact, it's uplifting. And so is the front office we now have in place!
