  1. It may be wise to prepare yourself. http://www.rivercitywhiskysociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Jameson-Irish-Whiskey.jpg
  2. Correct. More to the point (IMO) is to give Red Sox fans and the media a chance to digest the real possibilty Theo could be coming here.
  3. Well, when Francona was let go, ALL of them (Lucciano, Henry and Epstein) were present. I think it's signifigant. When it's Red Sox related, they are all usually joined at the hip.
  4. Sounds like we'd get in huge trouble for tampering. Huh? How is that tampering? Our owner calling two players who are currently playing for other teams in the playoffs? Seems pretty clear. It was a nit pick, regardless. Obviously after the season.
  5. And despite the belief I want Ryno to be the next manager, if Theo announced he's coming here and bringing Francona with him, I might cry happy tears. That said, I do not want all of this to come crashing down by finding out Epstein is staying. Huge disappointment if that happens.
  6. And what Levine failed to mention (And I do think Levine is a pretty solid source) is that obviously if the Ricketts and the Cubs are going to target one of those two, we had better have a plan as to how we get back in the race NEXT YEAR. Tom Ricketts: "Hi, Albert/Prince. We just, as you know, hired Theo Epstein (Or other solid GM) to be our new GM. Does this not speak volumes of our desire to win and win soon? Theo will be calling your agent shortly". Then factor in a major media market, insane endorsement opps and what's not to like?
  7. "It appears the long wait for some word, any word, out of Red Sox owner John Henry will be ending tomorrow. Henry will be a guest of the Dennis and Callahan show on WEEI from 8 to 9 tomorrow morning, with Herald columnist Gerry Callahan and co-host John Dennis questioning him on everything from the circumstances that led to Terry Francona’s departure to the future of general manager Theo Epstein, whom the Cubs would like to speak to regarding their opening at general manager. Henry has not responded to multiple interview requests from the Herald and other outlets, and barring a change of heart tonight, tomorrow’s radio appearance will mark the end of his silence. Henry, incidentally, will be joined on the air by team president Larry Lucchino" Me= Opens Jameson bottle tonight in anticipation of interview
  8. Well that settles that then. Better lock up Carlos Pena. He said that while Chicago is a great place to play, these guys want to win and are not going to want to wait around for any type of rebuilding process that could takes years.
  9. Indeed it is tomorrow at 7AM. Hopefully we know something tonight. \:D/ http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2011/10/06/looking-for-john-henry-larry-lucchino-youll-find-them-on-dennis-callahan-friday-morning/
  10. I think it is weei.com in Boston for the live feed.
  11. Bruce Levine was just on with Waddle and Silvy and said that John Henry will be on WEEsomething (Sorry, guys, I have to find out the exact station) at 7AM Chicago time tomorrow morning to disuss where the organization is headed. This willl obviously shed some light as to Esptein. Additionally, a caller asked Bruce about the likelyhood that the Cubs go after Pujols or Fielder and Levine replied:" There is no way either one of them will want to come here".
  12. No, I do not agree with Bob on that at all. Aramis and Sori have been whipping boys and targets when there are far better guys to go after on this team. Who is a better target? These are the highest priced veterans expected to lead the club. Accepting an elite salary brings with it higher expectations and more criticism for failure. Dempster and Marmol were pathetic and they are not abused like ARam and Sori have been. In fact, it's not even close. Sori is just declining, not his fault Hendry paid him a zillion dollars for 8 years. And I do not want Soriano on the team, but the abuse he takes is rather comical. The guy, by all accounts, is a good teammate.

  14. Said that he has fallen off the face of the earth on defense, gets his 2B killed because he takes forever to turn a DP and is a base clogger. He also said that he is not a leader for Castro (Basically called it BS to believe that) and without saying it, called him a lazy ass. He did not use the term, but he was being diplomatic about it. Once Brenly has a bone to pick with you, you're done as far as earning his respect back.
  15. Brenly just tearing into ARam on Waddle and Silvy.
  16. My guess is that Red Sox brass is looking over who can replace Theo, should they ask for compensation and how to handle the obvious media circus this is sure to become should he leave to come here. Not an easy time for Red Sox ownership. If Theo left, his replacement would be a no-brainer. It'd be Cherington, undoubtedly. I agree with that. I just think they are getting their ducks in a row. As I said, this is a tough spot for them. Will be real fun when we play them next year if Theo is here. Heck, ESPN Boston has it as the lead story: "The Cubs come calling"

  18. Edes said that by the end of the week, the Red Sox have to let the Cubs know. He also said that this is not a fishing expedition by Ricketts. Basically, he wants Theo here and will most likely make him a can't refuse offer.
  19. It says that if Epstein is indeed granted permission to talk with the Cubs, the Red Sox are all but telling him to go. Hey, maybe it's not relevant to you, but I thought it was an interesting take on the situation by Lynch. And yes, we know it's all speculation.
  20. It was taken from SOSH. http://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/68422-theo-to-cubs/page__st__220
  21. One of the posters on SOSH was listening to Lynch and this is what he heard. I bolded the part by the SOSH poster and underlined the most telling part. Wow! Theo Epstein might be running the show here with just about complete and full power of the Cubs. :yahoo: Lynch just said something like, "if Theo feels he is being pushed out the door by any of the owners, he won't take the interview." Was kind of confusing, but he made it seem like Theo wouldn't screw the Cubs out of something good if all the Red Sox care about is getting the best asset back for Epstein. Edit: He clarified and said that is the case. He also said if the Sox grant permission, they want Theo to leave.
  22. I saw that as well. They figure if Ozzie Guillen can land a few players, what's Epstein worth?
  23. I agree and as I said, if they even think about going that route, they can keep Theo.
