  1. I'm on the "in favor of the Cubs playing hardball" side - but show me where he stated this.
  2. Before all of this, I was very indifferent about the Red Sox. Now I can say that I dislike them for being this ridiculous about a situation that THEY created with Epstein. He has wanted out because of a perceived lack of appreciation from Lucchino. John Henry then states he will allow Epstein to go (or talk) if it's a non lateral move. The Cubs offer Theo just that and now they play hardball. We are trying to be fair but they are just being awipes about it. I hope Ricketts remembers this in future dealings with these pricks.
  3. I said messed up but had to take a call and could not finish. Messed up meaning I am not sure if he is joking and not sure if it's true. Sorry, guys. But he is here so hopefully something breaks today.
  4. I saw that, too. But it appears that it is indeed his hotel number. Messed up.
  5. Nick Carfado. He covers the Red Sox for the Boston Globe.
  6. And interesting to note that Carfado is in Chicago today. People are asking him via twitter why he is here and he has not replied. :-k

  9. Pretty good article out of Comcastsportsnet New England http://www.csnne.com/baseball-boston-redsox/news/Sources-Epstein-announcement-several-day?blockID=578982&feedID=4020
  10. I still haven't seen a body pic...please post that next time...and according to Henry...Luccino does his job, not him. I personally think if Cherrington was doing the work this thing would be done already...Lucky isn't the most ideal person to deal with... Yea, Linda is a lovely lady. Seriously, Henry can say LL does all the negotiating but he is the final word in Boston. I do not buy LL is the man with carte blanche power. http://www.boston.com/Boston/rf/image_371w/Boston/2011-2020/2011/09/06/Boston.com/ReceivedContent/Images/16070127.jpg?uuid=jWKK_tjBEeCknsDjD9f8HQ
  11. "Epsten deal a go but might miss deadline". Still negotiating about prospects. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/8272985-573/theo-epstein-deal-a-go-but-it-might-miss-deadline.html
  12. Mr X. I think JWH might be distracted these days and has his mind on his new wife. It's messing up his negotiating skills :) http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Original_Photo/2009/06/30/john_henry3__1246388703_0150.jpg
  13. Welcome to the board, Mr. X. From what you know, is McNutt the only thing holding this up? Because if it is, I would personally bring him to Boston in a limo . The fact many posters here are against him being a part of the package to get Epstein is mind numbing. He is nothing more than a good prospect that might be a 3rd starter. And I stress. MIGHT BE.

  17. Report: Red Sox targeting Cubs pitcher McNutt http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22297882/32786791
  18. And after reading the globe story, it appears that McNutt is indeed on the Red Sox radar. Well, get it done, Tom.
  19. Was Corey Patterson supposed to be a "league average player? Was that what he was touted to be or was the term: 5 tools/can't miss prospect the general norm? WHO [expletive] CARES WHAT PATTERSON WAS TOUTED TO BE?? YOU DON'T LOSE VALUE BECAUSE YOU HOPED A GUY WOULD BECOME SOMETHING ELSE HE STILL HAS THAT VALUE HOLY [expletive] AND YOU DON'T LOSE EPSTEIN OVER TREY FRIGGIN MCNUTT. I think most people here, speaking honestly, would say that Theo Epstein would probably contribute more to this organization than Trey McNutt over the long run. But the point is, so would Josh Byrnes....or Cherington....or the Braves guy...or probably a few more people I can't even think of right now. So keep McNutt and hire someone else because he was too valuable to deal? Sorry, he is not that valuable when we are talking about a guy who is going try and build a kingdom and has done so in the past. And again, we do not even know if McNutt is why we are at a standstill.
  20. So, basically, if we had to give up McNutt to make the deal work, the vast majority of posters here would not do it? Again, the question is IF we had to.

  22. No! The argument is you give up for McNutt for Epstein if you have to get the deal done. Esptein is a top 5 GM while McNutt is an AA pitcher with a good ceiling.
  23. Was Corey Patterson supposed to be a "league average player? Was that what he was touted to be or was the term: 5 tools/can't miss prospect the general norm? The point is you do not walk away from Epstein if it costs you a minor league player. And yes, the Red Sox are being douches about it.
