  1. I don't know if that velocity from 4 years ago is going to return (it could), but if he's gonna have a monster K day, it's likely going to be because of the excellent change up he was showing earlier this season. The velocity bit was tongue in cheek. It’s never coming back. Lange has really been quite terrible of late. May as well join the rest of the preseason pitching prospects we cared about.
  2. I know Gaston has the tinge of a potential failed PED test. Wonder if Osiel does too. Yeah, it's got to be something. I know most of the IFA money was already spent when Rodriguez became available, but I'm sure some team somewhere would have been willing to give him more than $600K otherwise.
  3. Lange needs to have a monster K day today. And to also get back the 3-4 mph on his fastball from his Frosh year at LSU.
  4. You guys realize I said Trevor Cahill-esque CAREER, right? They aren't anywhere near the same type of pitcher and I would never compare the two in those terms. You could substitute Trevor Cahill for Clayton Richard, Dustin McGowan, Jeff Locke, Chad Gaudin, etc. Basically any pitcher that got some big league innings making some starts at the back end of a rotation and also in middle relief. Cahill is probably on the highest end of that though, as he threw 200 innings for the Dbacks in 2012. That's probably not happening for Robinson.
  5. He has some pretty good numbers there, what kind of stuff does he have/throw? So I believe he has no true "plus" pitch. His fastball is in the low-90's and his best pitch is probably his curveball. Throws strikes and has 4 or 5 pitches. I read he was working on a cutter. Not sure how good or effective it is. I think he learned that pitch from pitching coach (and former MLB pitcher) Brian Lawrence while he was in South Bend. His profile is that of a BOR starter. His stuff isn't great and that's probably why he hasn't been listed on national prospect lists for the Cubs' system. I think he could end up being similar to Luke Farrell as a guy we call up next year as a spot starter. I know that isn't exciting, but there is value in having someone like that. This is my understanding as well. You're probably looking at a Trevor Cahill-esque career if things bounce right. That's pretty fantastic for a 9th round pick who came over 100K underslot as a senior sign.
  6. Yeah, I need Babe Roederer to come back. The current version isn't as fun.
  7. Roederer with another tough game. 0-4 with 3 Ks.
  8. [tweet]https://twitter.com/EmilyCWaldon/status/1022946952269455360[/tweet] No idea about her reliability.
  9. I was going to mention this. Several of the signings aren't official yet because the prospect hasn't turned 16.
  10. Edmond Americaan with another good game. He's old for a JuCo guy (21), but he certainly appears to be performing up to his scouting report (speedy CF that can get on base). The speed added to the system from the 2018 draft is pretty impressive.
  11. I wonder what the corresponding move is there. MB has a full rotation and then some. Uelmen left yesterday’s Myrtle Beach game with an injury so there might be your opening. Well damn. I saw he left early, but was hoping it was more along the lines of a hugwatch type of deal.

  13. That's a bit much, but I think he definitely hurts more than Candelario in that same deal. Always felt that way.
  14. He hit a single to break up the hitless streak but he did add another K. I believe that gives him more K's than BBs now.
  15. That’s a combination of the Sox being overly cautious with their stud prospect and the minors having a short 7 day DL stay. And of course he has to hit to have value. But is there any doubt that he will at this point? David Ortiz was only a 3 Win player while rocking a 150 wRC+ at DH, but is anyone going to debate how he positively impacted every game he played? And that’s completely writing Eloy off in the field, which is premature. His bat absolutely has 150 wRC+ ability. There’s 11 qualified batters at 150+ right now, there were 7 last year. That’s an incredibly high threshold in this environment. For sure. But that’s why Eloy’s bat is so special. There aren’t many guys who have the ability to hit like he does.
  16. He’s played in 73 games this year. That’s a bad take. As is the second part. There is this thing called the DH in the AL. If his defense gets to the point that it is a negative, they can just put him there and take advantage of that ridiculous bat. Edit: unless you were being sarcastic and I just missed it I wasn’t. I want to say he’s hit the DL 3 or 4 times this year and you really have to hit as a DH (which I believe he is) to have much value. Only 3 qualified guys over 2 WAR last year at DH and none over 3. He literally needs to be JD Martinez, peak Nelson Cruz, etc to be more than a 2-3 WAR player at DH. Which that’s fine, just his bat really needs to play for him to carry value. That’s a combination of the Sox being overly cautious with their stud prospect and the minors having a short 7 day DL stay. And of course he has to hit to have value. 17. Don’t go look at Eloy shredding AAA. It’s painful. Thank goodness Q pitched well last outing. He take a break from the DL to play a game? Neat. He’s going to have to hit like JD Martinez to carry any value. He’s played in 73 games this year. That’s a bad take. As is the second part. There is this thing called the DH in the AL. 18. Is there a single position player in Tenn that’s remotely intriguing?? Legit asking, I just looked at their roster and didn’t recognize anyone but Shorts name on the position player side. Giambrone and EJM to a much, much lesser extent.

  20. With the caveat that the Smokies’ lineup isn’t good, Cease is owning them so far. 4 perfect innings with 7 Ks and only 50 pitches.
  21. I'm confused now. Roederer didn't have a really high pre-draft ranking and there was very little buzz about him (probably due to missing time from injuries). Like I read way more about Blaze Alexander before the draft. I'm glad he has a fan at BA. Yeah, that's odd to lump Roederer in with Delgado and Alexander. Certainly possible that Glaser was always high on Roederer, but that he was trumped by the other guys at BA, thus leading to a weak pre-draft ranking.
  22. Dude. Underwood and Clifton are picking up the slack with their seasons and return to legit prospect status.
  23. I got a pretty heavy work week this week, but I'll try to take a look at his game tonight (or some of his more recent ones if tonight's isn't broadcast) and give you my description. That's for doing the heavy lifting. I am moving to a new house and my in-laws are in this entire week, otherwise I'd try and squeeze it in myself. It sucks that I don't have the time to watch minor league games like I used to.
  24. I wish I could catch Miller's start on milb.tv this afternoon, but I can't. He's been really effing good his past 7 starts. 28.4% K rate, 4.5% BB rate, 2.60 FIP I would imagine he's been having success with more than just his fastball to be able to post those numbers, but does anyone know how his slider and change have looked this year (assuming he still uses those 2 as his secondaries)?
  25. Believe this was first game Davis has played in the field. Since coming back from injury it was. He started in CF the first 2 games he played before injury.
