  1. .202/.304/.266/.570 in 309 PA in the Cape Cod League with the his second year being worse then the first is scary, Almost as scary as his K rate over 20% this year in college ball. Hard pass for me.
  2. I really want the high level scouts to be convinced that Greg Jones will hit, so he can be the pick. That speed would be really fun.
  3. That's exactly the vibe I got from Misner as well. His contact has absolutely cratered in SEC play.
  4. Fun with arbitrary sample sizes: Cole Roederer over his past 13 games (54 PAs) - .295/.389/.523 (158 wRC+)
  5. Zero expectations for this guy, but damn would that be fun if we was legit and made the big leagues.
  6. Maybe I should stop posting their mock drafts because I seriously doubt the Cubs (and their scouts) are targeting a HS pitcher with their 1st round pick. It doesn't fit their MO. A bunch of good hitters are still available: Shewmake, Wilson and Hoese (who I don't really like). Yeah, I see an extremely small chance of that happening. I can't make up my mind on Hoese. I've seen some video and I don't love the swing, but it's not horrendous. Wilson is my least favorite out of those 3. He doesn't make enough contact.
  7. I don't think there were any breaks or anything, which is the "not serious" part. But there still can be ample bruising and swelling, which would prevent him from resuming baseball activities. He was still in a soft cast fairly recently.
  8. Shewmake went 31 and Hoese 32 in this mock. Has anyone gotten any looks at this kid? Otherworldy stats, but Kiley said he has a really long swing and feasts against weak competition.
  9. Have we seen an IFA go straight to SS ball the following summer? I think Gleyber may have gotten a cup of coffee up there in that first summer, but I know he spent a good chuck of time in AZ.
  10. I had not realized that the PCL was treating Swarmer so poorly in his first couple starts. Ouch.
  11. Cory Abbott continues to plug away with another quality start. 6 IP, 6H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 Ks. Not as flashy as his past 2 starts, but this is his first time making it a full 6 innings.
  12. I see Shea Langeliers keeps dropping. That would be a really nice pickup, IMO.
  13. Look elsewhere for bullpen reinforcements, methinks.
  14. I'm just as impressed with the matching 12.3% BB rate in the early going for him. He didn't walk much at all in college, and I was hoping he wasn't going to be a guy like Almora who can make contact early and never takes walks. 169 wRC+ in the early going for Nico.
  15. He would be a great guy to be able to get as an overslot in the 2nd or 3rd round, but I'm sure he will be gobbled up by then.
  16. .317/.364/.439 (136 wRC+) I'm really hoping that K rate reduction is legit. Obviously not "under 10% legit", but if he could be around 15%? That would be impressive. Then the coaches just need to find a way to tap into the above average raw power.
  17. For sure. I never get too excited about pitching prospects until they are in AA, but it never hurts to have dudes in the lower minors to follow. Did anyone see any velos for Miller yesterday? I'm interested in seeing if he is still in the mid-90's, or if he's back in the lower 90's again. I don't remember him being a mid-90s guy very often unless you're referring to sitting 92-94 with the 94 part qualifying as mid-90s. Did I miss a report? I'll watch the game and see if they give any velos. Mostly semantics with the "mid-90's" stuff, but I remember reading someplace that he was sitting 92-94 and bumping 95.
  18. More of that, please. All the previous AZPhil blurbs on Franklin that I've seen have him walking a couple guys and not missing many bats. Yeah, the potential Eugene rotation of Yovanny Cruz (19), Jeremiah Estrada (20), Danis Correa (19), Kohl Franklin (19) and Yunior Perez (20) looks to be a fun one to follow. For sure. 20. I really like the look of this Volpe kid in the limited video available.
  21. Thanks. I was a huge fan of Carter Stewart last year, and I'm still a fan now. Not sure how much that wrist injury affected him or if it's still bothering him? I really don't think this Cubs FO is taking a pitcher in this draft. The pitching was WAY better last draft and we had a higher pick, and we still took a hitter. I haven't checked in on him since early in the year, when everyone was clamoring over how down his stuff was. Has he gotten it back?
  22. Is the inverted W still a thing? Because this kid has it at the 10 second mark.
  23. Any of you milb.tvers able to get a look at this one yet? I haven't seen a report about how his stuff looked anywhere.
  24. Roederer sitting out again tonight for SB. That's 2 games in a row.
  25. Because of course. Guy looks the best he ever has since being drafted and he then has to go on the shelf.
