  1. I guess Daniel Hudson would be available for Dunn. That would make their rotation interesting. If the Dunn trade happens, I could see Kenny Williams being crazy enough to acquire Oswalt, and absorbing a good chunk of the contract.
  2. Cantu does appear to be one of the only options available to slot in at first in the off season. I think it is very very important we try to snag some sort of first baseman prospect in one of our trades. They don't even have to be great, just pretty much ready to play for a few years. Who is our top first base prospect currently? Do we even have one? Hopefully we stock up on a couple in the draft. You can count me in the minority camp not wanting to give out an outrageous contract to either Prince Fielder or Adrian Gonzalez. Oh, other than that. I would be perfectly content to be the Indians for a few seasons. We have a lot of arm prospects. This year and next year is a great time to start seeing what they can do for us.
  3. Yes, that looks like a lineup that could possibly chase Halladay after 4 innings. Why the hell not, right? Come on Cubs, put a bright spot on your putrid season!
  4. Do you guys think Lilly goes at the deadline, or maybe yesterday was his last start in a Cubs uniform?
  5. hell yeah votto! we need more guys like votto on the cubs...SWAGGER
  6. Well, you sure showed us. cubsfan5150 = Jim Hendry!! Jimbo, calm down big fella! We know your end is near, but that is no reason to become so bitter buddy. Also, it may be a good idea to put down the sauce for a little while. Us folks who don't know anything about baseball would greatly appreciate it if you didn't drunkenly mess up the Cubs franchise anymore than you already have at present.
  7. His salary for 2011 is $14.6 million. His 2012 salary is $16 million or his buyout is $2 million. There are five stipulations that make his 2012 salary guaranteed: His NTC is already irrelevant because he has 10/5 rights. Whoa. I did not know that. I guess Aram is going to be a Cub through next season. That is OK, I suppose. Hopefully Vitters can adjust at AA for the rest of the season. Maybe start out at AA next year, and then get bumped up to AAA in the middle of next season.
  8. Hmm. I was thinking Dempster would be a great fit.
  9. Justin Smoak. Wow. I think this is a really dumb deal for the Rangers.
  10. Ooooooooooooooooooh. The Mariners are backing off! Maybe the Rays will swoop in there and snag him. I am guessing it will be either the Rays or the Rangers. Both teams definitely have the chips to trump the Yankees offer.
  11. Is there any hope to get a decent player back or do you think the Cubs are just looking to dump the salary. What is his value? The more and more I look at the rumors, I am starting to get very worried the Cubs are simply looking to dump salary. I have been waiting for this deadline since the middle of last season. If we don't get any good young talent back for our talent, I am going to be pissed. The problem though is that a lot of our guys are overpaid and not performing up to their contracts, making it very difficult to get any sort of return back for them. I, for one, am totally ok with the salary dumps as it gives a new GM room to bring in new FA's. Yeah, this is what scares me the most. I don't think this team really needs to be spending ANY money right now. We should be trying to stock the farm, evaluate what we have, and move on from there. I sincerely wish "the family" comes out and says that Cubs fans need to be patient for the next few years.

  13. You play in an AL West only league? Going from Safeco to Yankee stadium as a lefty? From the AL West to the AL East? Significant He did great in Philly's small park. Wouldn't a lefty benefit from pitching in NY, or at least not suffer as much from the short RF porch as a righty conceivably would? I thought the whole thing was lefty hitters have an advantage, but that would be negated against LH pitching. Got this from the Rotoworld boards... Since 2008 Lee has gone a combined 5-4, 2.07, 1.11, 54 K in 82.1 IP in 11 starts against Boston, Tampa, Toronto and Baltimore. Not too shabby...
  14. Mariners also getting Zach McAllister. Looks like he still has some things to figure out at AAA, but definitely a decent little arm. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=mcalli001zac
  15. found it http://northsidebaseball.com/forum/topic?f=6&t=56174&hilit=votto&start=0
  16. Says the user who made their first post last week. I do remember that though Yep...after 2 different names, I finally found one I liked on this board.
  17. I remember getting laughed at when I said Votto could be a Pujols-lite this season.
  18. I also hope Lilly doesn't go to the Mets. We aren't going to get anything good from them.
  19. Trade him for just about anything. This team can use it. The point is he's a huge injury risk, given his delivery, let alone the fact that relievers are terribly inconsistent. Trade him to the Red Sox for their 1st baseman prospect. I would be down for that. Wait...let me check some numbers. Yep. Lars Anderson is a lefty! Also, he destroyed AA this season, and is definitely adjusting to AAA currently.
  20. The Soriano suggestion was something that came up a while ago and was more in terms of how to better deal with his contract as time went on if the Cubs don't have a better option at 1B. The Colvin idea just came up in this thread and is the idea of one absolutely insane individual. Oh, ok. Thanks for the clarification. What is the general consensus on Fonzie at 1st? I, for one, would like to watch it but would hate for it to happen.
  21. it has gotten to the point of contemplating about tyler or alfonson at 1st? desperate times
  22. Oh, this thread is sleazy. I feel some runs today, and maybe even a win.
  23. This is almost too surreal. I wonder if there is something else going on here. I was a bit sloshed last night and thought to myself, "Maybe the Cubs brass simply jumped all over a "perfect" situation to get rid of Zambrano." This is a very confusing situation. Given what happened the other day, this seems like a huge overreaction.
