    +1. + the increase in payroll, overall bad team. Not to mention, I didn't like how Ricketts said he was going to spend $ on the draft and then didn't. Yeah, you can't be mad about that anymore. It's well-known now that he is literally building for the future in Latin America. A huge presence there is probably more important than spending big every year in the draft (with the exception of this year and 2001). I didn't read about the Cubs signing any big name Latin players, mostly just smaller slot guys. Ricketts better spend this June.

    I understand this philosophy too. I don't believe for a second Bubba is going to end up playing football at Nebraska. It just makes absolutely no sense to me. Boras is his agent and will use all that leverage. Bubba will get paid and be playing professional baseball, IMO.

    Who I would like the Cubs to draft in order: 1) Garrit Cole 2) Bubba Starling 3) Anthony Rendon 4) Sonny Gray 5) Dylan Bundy 6) Matt Purke 7) Danny Hultzen 8) Taylor Jungmann 9) Archie Bradley 10) Francisco Lindor Feel like I have missed someone though.

    He'd hit just .238/.329/.400 with 59 homers in over 2,000 career plate appearances coming into 2010 I just don't see how you can go out and sign this guy to that type of deal. Wow.

    Looking at the lineup gives me some optimism for next season to be honest. If Pena rebounds to his form - the lineup looks pretty damn good IMO. Of course, Castro has to continue develop and Dewitt has to hit, but it's really not that bad of a NL lineup, in my opinion. I think Ramirez will really benefit this season from Pena.

    I had a nightmare about a week ago that this off-season played out: - Aramis opts out and leaves. - Cubs trade Fukudome for Chone Figgins. In the dream there was Hendry explaining the move and how Figgins gives the team a legit leadoff man and great defensive 3rd baseman.

    Don't forget Cesas Izturis and Will Ohman... My god, no wonder the O's suck so bad. How many Cubs cast offs do they need. Wouldn't Ohman be like our 3rd best reliever?
