  1. Vitters 2/4 w/ a 2B --- .283 average now. Can he finish the year hitting .300? That would be huge.
  2. Vitters finished 3/6 with 3 RBI. Batting average up to .279. Jackson 3/4 w/ 2BB & an RBI. Batting average up to .267. Both heating up.. Great news.
  3. Is Michael Ynoa any good? I can't seem to find his minorleague numbers. And wow Acosta & Malave would be nice hauls. Exciting to know that Ricketts may be serious about spending on the farm. Baez, Vogel, Maples, and the rest of the 2011 class now please!
  4. If Golden can put those tools together and continue to hit and show that patience it would be a huge boost to the farm. I think he is quite forgotten by many around here due to being out of shape last year. But, he looks really good physically & so far this year. Golden, Baez*, Vitters, Vogelbach*, etc. Some nice upside bats in the system. I'd be pretty excited if we get those guys signed. And by the looks of things we could be in line to get another impact bat at the top of the 2012 draft.
  5. How much longer do we have to wait for Beliveau to be called up? He was born in '87 -- not exactly a young guy.. How much more grooming needs to be done?
  6. Not to be an ass, but I will be absolutely stunned if Simpson ever amounts to anything. I know he was sick last year and is still getting his weight/health together, but he hasn't done anything positive thus far in his short career. The fact that he went in the first round where no one had him projected -- makes it all the more tougher to swallow. I'd love to be wrong. But, he is really frustrating.
  7. Vitters got in the game today off the bench. 0/1. Tennessee is in a 0-0 game -- 13th inning. Jackson 0/5 -- average down to .253.
  8. I am of the opinion his only chance is at LF. I think we sign a big name 1B in the offseason. And I don't believe Vitters can stick at 3B.
  9. If we can sign Baez, Vogelbach, Maples, & Zych this is a great draft. Really hope we can sign Maples. He really looks the part in his scouting video. Does Maples qualify as a 2-sport guy where you can spread out the bonus? Or does he have to have a scholarship offer for football too? How does that work?
  10. showed up fat, isn't playing full season ball Awesome. And wow BJax has gone in the tank after that great start.. Hitting .257 now. Still has a good OPS.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMlngmhYlME I like how the ball jumps off his bat in this video. Looks pretty smooth. Here is another. Not sure if already posted.
  12. I think its more so the timing of the injury and the money demands. How much is Baez going to cost? Baez is committed to a JUCO - I can't see him not signing, but who knows what the price will be. I wonder with how quickly Cashner has advanced and the TCU connection might help. I'd love Purke at #68. I mean, a bat like Baez w/ his upside, and Purke in the second round. Can't ask for much more than that. He missed out on what? $10M from Texas a few years ago. It's going to be hard to see him taking a ton less than that even with his injury concerns all things considered.
  13. At least he's an advanced HS bat. (Although Vitters was too..) Someone posted a picture of Starling's batting stance the other day and it was cringe worthy.. I wouldn't have much hope in the Cubs fixing that.
  14. I just don't get how Vitters can have such insane bat speed and make a tons of contact like he does -- yet still put up such a poor average. Frustrating..
  15. Wow. I don't know much about Baez, but I love the sound of his bat speed. Is it anything like Vitters? If so, you've got to hope/pray one of those two make it with those type of tools. I was really hoping for one of Bundy/Bradley/Starling, but Baez is a nice addition to the farm. I really hope we go after a big name at #68.
  16. No. Everyone was shocked. The MLB network crew didn't even know who he was.. The thread from last year is around -- I think still on the first page.. Look at it for a few laughs. Many thought Simpson was left handed, LOL. And were pissed when they found out he was right handed. I remember imagining him on his couch eating a sandwich and looking up at the TV with a perplexed look on his face when they announed the pick. The best part was MLB network put up the graphic on him (after a serious delay..) and said he was left handed. Many here posted his stats and were like, "Hey, those numbers are pretty good for a LHP" And then some jack ass came and let everyone know he was right handed by googling a picture. Pretty hysterical. If we go with a Colvin/Simpson pick, I am going to be pretty sick. I don't know anything about Baez, but he has upside. I don't want a 23 year old Cuban. Please. This has to be a huge bluff by Wilken.

  18. Yeah, this sounds like a guy you want to use a top 10 pick on. In the best draft in ten years I legit LOL'd sooo true ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  19. Nightmare scenario. Absolute nightmare.
  20. This guy is incredible. 50 BB / 31 K's OBP of .500 w/ an OPS 1.253 And hey, 5/7 on stolen base attempts..
  21. Did Jed Bradley die? I like Archie Bradley & Jungmann better. Bradley is #11.
  22. Draft is only 4 days away. When does the info about picks usually start to leak out? My preference list: 1 - Anthony Rendon 2 - Dylan Bundy 3 - Gerrit Cole 4 - Danny Hultzen 5 - Bubba Starling 6 - Sonny Gray 7 - Trevor Bauer 8 - Archie Bradley 9 - Taylor Jungmann 10 - Francisco Lindor
