  1. Just curious, what class is this for?? Pedro & Schilling had a lot to do w/ ending Boston's curse.
  2. If the Cubs are trading ARam to Baltimore, then they need to get back Miggy and Mora. Give the O's JWill and another player.
  3. Isn't Gonzo a fan favorite? Surprising they'll move him. Can't see why they'd give up a couple of young guys like Tracy & Glaus.
  4. I'd like to make a big trade with Arizona with just the Cubs or a 3 way trade. I think they have a lot of answers for that right field problem. What's on your radar from AZ? I like Green & his .832 ops, and that he's a left-handed bat. AZ's a hitter's park correct?? Moving to the Central from the NL West could give Green's slugging a boost.
  5. Wonder what type of prospect they'd give up for him or if Shawn Green's available. He's from Chicago correct?? I wouldn't mind the Cubs sending Patterson to some mid or small market team for a good prospect or two. There have to be small & mid market organizations that value Patterson quite a bit, as he could blow up and post a .800 ops, and be a steal. Jmo but teams like NY, Boston, LA and Anaheim are bad matches for CPatt.
  6. About the Question Marks: Youklis can play first. I also wouldn't be surprised if they add someone there. SS is the biggest question mark. Right now leftfield is not a question. Manny is there and I sincerely doubt he walks away from 20+ million dollars. On top of that, Manny received a 16 million dollar signing bonus which the Red Sox could seek to recoup a portion of if he refuses to report to training camp. Also, if Manny is traded, you can bet some players would be coming back to Boston. CF is a ?, but I'd bet on Damon returning. The rotation is: Schilling Beckett Wells Clement Arroyo/ Wakefield Miller likely will be non-tendered. If Wells is traded, Papelbon likely steps into the rotation and he's pretty good. You think they'd take Vasquez from AZ? How about Lowell @ 1b?
  7. He gone. You said so far, and it's kinda unfair to leave him out when they're obviously going to get something for him. Clarification: It could be some real good prospects, and an average player like Darrin Erstad. Hence the ???
  8. The way things are going, the Dodgers just may have a lottery to decide who gets to play where. Furcal, Izturis, Mueller, Kent, Choi, Guzman, Perez, Walker (?) Can see them packaing Choi, Izturis and prospects for an OF. If Theo was still in Boston, they could probably get Manny for Drew.
  9. If true, then the market for Walker is really drying up. Am not following this?? Won't Mueller play 3b in LA??
  10. The Red Sox lineup so far: 1B ??? Saw someone on a Boston board mention Youkilis 2b Loretta SS ??? 3B Lowell LF ???? CF ???? RF Nixon (injury prone) C Varitek DH Ortiz Rotation: Beckett (injury prone, but had to do it) Schilling (major question mark), Clement (#3-4) Arroyo (#3-4) Wade Miller??? Wakefield?? I probably forgot a guy or 2, but not looking too hot.
  11. I'd be ticked they aren't trading one of their big hitters for more pitching. They need to structure their team like the late 90's teams, who had starters such as Cone, Wells, Clemens, El Duque and Pettite.
  12. Washburn or Weaver would be nice pickups. Wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs target Lowe or Livan Hernandez via trade either.
  13. Can't see Baltimore dealing Tejada to a rival. Pie, Williams & Cedeno for Tejada. Heck, throw in Novoa too. Still have Walker, Patterson & Hill to deal.
  14. i think the bidding is currently at 44M/4. Who offered that? That's too much.
  15. I'd go 4 & 36. Pitching wins titles, and the Cubs rotation would be deep.
  16. Getting Beckett was one helluva move. It's about time the quit stocking up on #3 pitchers. That's great for the regular season and all...
  17. good call on automatically believing things that help your bizarre cause Bizarre cause? Not offended. :o
  18. Gammons said that Detroit offered Howry more money than the Cubs did. Well, at least he bidded against another team for once. ;)
  19. So upper management does have a major say afterall. Will file this one away for another day when the anti-Hendry accusations start a flyin. :)
  20. My SoCal contact just sent me an email telling me that Hendry and Stoneman spoke after the Pierre trade was official. Stoneman is willing to trade Finley ($7M in 2006) and $4m in cash to the Cubs for Patterson - one prospect from each team would also be involved in the deal. Stoneman was trying to sell Hendry on Finley's good health and good arm for RF. My contact said Hendry didn't say yes or no, but would think about it as he was working on other OF opportunities. My contact speculated that Hendry might be thinking of acquiring Mench for Walker, and could then envision a Finley/Mench platoon in RF. Again, take it for what it is. Rumor mill stuff. I've missed the Hacksaw Best Damn 15 Minutes sports report the past few days, but will try to catch it tomorrow to see if this deal has legs. I'd much rather have Floyd. At least Finley can catch the ball though. EDIT: I'd rather go w/ Patterson in rf than Finley. I have no faith in someone Finley's age bouncing back from injury.
  21. If US presidents lost wars as frequently as Cubs GM lose games, I'd be pretty upset. But by and large, US politicians have been far more successful running this country, its states and cities than any Cubs GM I've ever met. Bush better than Hendry. It takes a lot to offend me, but this does it. :)
  22. I was thinking something like Floyd, Pierre and Bradley or Wilkerson, with Murton as the super-sub. Murton should get lots of AB's since Floyd and Bradely may miss some time and Floyd can give Lee a day of rest from time to time @ 1b. This lineup could drive in some runs ~~ Pierre, Bradley/Wilkerson, Lee, Floyd, ARam, Soriano, Barret, Neifi/Cedeno murton needs to play every day or he will turn into the 2006 version of dubois. Murton >>> DuBois Seems like he'll hit regardless of Dusty's sporadic lineup decisions.

  24. Depends how they're used. Walker's the better 1-2 hitter. Sori the better 4-5-6 hitter. Soriano in the 4 hole? No thanks. Walker is the better hitter. Soriano would be okay in the 6 hole. But he costs 4X as much, while being nowhere near 4X the player. Yep, he's overpriced, but it's only a 1 year commitment & 5 hitters, w/ 40 homer potential, tend to cost more than 2 hitters.
