  1. hard to win when the pitching is this bad. when's zambrano's next start.
  2. Okay, fine. Reduce your chances to score, that is a brilliant way to scrape runs over. Especially when runs, plural, is what is needed. In this game, I have to agree. Guz & Rusch might give up 6 runs or so. If Z's pitching, I don't mind if Cedeno's laying down a bunt. There's a decent chance he turns it into a hit or an error on the opposition. I don't mind if Pierre or Nef bunt in any situation. With the way they're hitting, might be better if they don't swing the bat.
  3. No, sac bunting is wrong. Batting Neifi in the 2 hole is wrong. Letting Murton swing away is not wrong. It might not always work, because that's baseball. And a sac bunt might occasionally work, because that's baseball. But the odds are against you and it's absolutely foolish to keep sac bunting the way Dusty does. just curious. what is the percentage breakdown? how much of a better chance of a run is there, if you don't bunt? There's a great link for this that was posted in one of the game threads the other day....I hope someone has it...cuz I'm too lazy to find it. :P i remember someone posting it. Unfortunately, baker makes a sweeping generalization that sacrificing a runner over is good at all times. I think the same sweeping genearlization holds for those adamantly opposed to the bunt tho. Jmo but it's highly dependent on the situation.

  5. so much for math. would have had 1st and 2nd w/ big G up. :)
  6. murtons hits into a double play that what you get for not bunting dusty!
  7. wtf pi@zza 3-3 there goes rusch's scoreless streak. :D
  8. Come on, IF??? This is Fat Glen we're talking about. jinx
  9. oh boy, rusch in. if he gives up a run, this thread takes off. :o
  10. baker has bunt threats throughout the order. if z's on the mound, i can see sacrificing. this move is shaky, since the cubs will need 6-7 runs today.
  11. nef might "earn" himself the leadoff spot.
  12. At 90 pitches or so he's got to be pulled anyway doesn't he? I mean...its not like he's thrown 90 over 7 and has been in control. 30+ pitch innings by guys his age are not a good idea. yep, pull him now. i'm glad they kept him in there so he could work his way out of it. let him leave on a good note.
  13. Go to the pen Baker. Don't let SD's top of the order get their 3rd shot @ the kid. Can't fall behind 5-2.
  14. if he doesn't get the pitcher, pull him
  15. Guzman's next start will be in Iowa. He's been given 4 start and just isn't ready yet. Thankfully he hasn't faced a really good offense and got shelled.
  16. RBI is a counting stat. Rate stats are more meaningful. Pierre has driven in 2 of 38 baserunners...... 0.053 Guzman has driven in 1 of 5 baserunner.......0.200 How's that ? put pierres on the cardinals and that would be 22 of 38.
  17. i'm amazed pierre has 2 rbis this season.
  18. way to bury murton in the 7spot.
  19. I don't see how he's not sent to Iowa after this start. Hill's been a little bit better than Gooz and it would probably serve Angel well to work on some things in Des Moines. Plus, it gets him away from Larry. Iirc the Cubs have an off day coming up, so they can skip Guzman's start. If he's shaky today, might as well send him down and get him a start 5 days from now. If he gives up only 1 run today, gotta keep him up tho.
  20. I have a feeling if Guzman doesn't perform well today he's on his way to Iowa. Might be anyways, if Wood electrifies them tonight.
  21. probably the last XBH we'll see all day. at least it got in a run.
  22. I don't. I want us to lose, and I want us to keep losing until Dusty and coaching staff is fired. I also want Pierre traded, and Neifi fired. at least you're honest. wait til next yr.
  23. hope pierre & nef's career numbers versus williams hold up today.
