  1. did baker get fired prior to the game??? murton batting 2nd?? wtf!
  2. Did you intentionally leave JP and his sub-.270 OBP out of the list of "killers"? the expectations around him weren't too high, so didn't feel like lumping w/ with the manager, 2 starters and aram. I disagree. The expectations of Pierre were failry high considering we needed him to get on base. i should have been more specific. i meant nsbb expections. jwilliams had some pretty big expectation here. i was one of those who thought he'd have a good season. pierre was expected to suk, but not this bad.
  3. Just like Prior saying he was okay to go back out after injuring his shoulder? Only incompetent management would allow that to happen. perhaps so. i'm done debating it tho. just wanted to inform the davhern about what wood said... yours truly, "contrarian"
  4. the trade doesn't look good, but lets wait til one of these guys becomes a solid starter. going to take a lot to eclipse the dwillis trade btw.
  5. touche with the way things are going, the cubs need to be 12 starters deep tho. :(
  6. Even if Prior and Wood were here and pitching at Cy Young levels, we'd be losing. The offense is horrific and is the main reason this team is so terrible. We'd just be losing 1-0 and 2-1 instead. Oh, and it's not Wood's fault he had to miss the first month of this season. cmon. they'd win some of these 3-2 games. you must have missed the thread where someone posted an interview w/ kerry where he said he made the call on pitching last august. lets not get that started again tho...
  7. I wasn't aware that Jock was used as a putdown. doubtful it's a term of endearment. :o I always thought it was comparable to "Walkah". what would you rather be referred to?? "jock" aka "jock strap" or "walkah??""" easy call here... :D

  9. Won't catch me using it. Especially with the search not working. HA! good man. i appreciate consistency. :)
  10. I guess "jock" jones isn't clever then.....
  11. people get way too excited about generic statements...
  12. people get riled up way too easily.
  13. if jwilliams came through, like many of us expected, rusch & guzman wouldn't have been starting much.

  15. i have little hope left. prior & wood have burnt the cubs way too many times. talk about money down the toilet.
  16. agreed. root for absolute failure and that means a lot of guys will have sucked. not a good way to go into 2007. I didn't say that I wanted the Cubs to tank the rest of the season. I just said that I didn't think Hendry would fire Baker. Based on that belief, the best case scenario is Baker doesn't get an extention at the end of the season. I didn't say anything about failure. never said you did.

  18. gotta lose another 14 out of 16 to get him fired.
  19. All he did was defend himself. The worst part is that he knows he screwed up and he won't admit it. Just come clean. What do you want him to say? "You know, I really thought Pierre was good, I didn't realize he was a bum, my bad." He can't say stuff like that, have you ever heard a manager take accountability midseason? That'd be like a player saying, "you know, I just don't think we have the talent this year." No one's going to do that. Yep, not a good idea to go negative. Might as well call it a season, if he says, "I screwed up."
  20. what future moves would he hamper? the cubs desperately need another slugger, and are going to have to pay big bucks for one. beggars can't be choosers....
  21. Whoa just looked @ Lugo's Pierreish numbers. What happened? Aubrey Huff has really struggled too. Makes Jock Jooooooooooones look good.
  22. last year was the transition year, as they had to replace someone who had carried the team for several years, sosa. they had to eat $17 million cause he was done. this year dusty, prior and jwilliams have killed the team. Lee's injury & ARam going AWOL are killers too. With that said, the longer Hendry sticks w/ Baker, the deeper Hendry's grave gets.
  23. "Dusty Baker deserves the right to pull this team out of it. "37 games is too soon to make a change, gave examples of Houston the last 2 years and Florida in 2003." Hows that foot in your mouth taste Jim? Make a trade!!!
  24. well, i think cedeno's part of any package for tejada. say goodbye to guzman too.
  25. soriano's the guy they go after. of course, he could be a cub soon. he fits the hendry philosophy. they might make a run at lugo too. i don't think they'll go after zito. he'll cost too much. a lot depends on what wood, prior & miller do. if all 3 fail, (highly possible), hendry looks to nab a starter. has mulder or contreras re-upped already?
