  1. i guess if i spent all off season hyping juan pierre, i'd do the best i could to make everyone forget it by making every one of my posts about rich hill too. pierre sucks just like hill. i can admit being wrong. it's just baseball.... Were you the one who admitted that in another thread earlier today? I remember somebody admitted building up Pierre in the offseason and I'm curious if it was you or not. I'm too lazy to look through a bunch of threads. BTW, I had high hopes for Pierre and thought it was a great move by the Cubs to pick him up. I wasn't on this board at that time, so you'll just have to trust me on that one. wasn't me. i wasn't online too much during the day. i thought it was a good move, and said that speed helps other hitters. if pierre ever got on, guess we'd see. :( no need to make up multiple excuses. when you're this wrong just take it like a man. :)
  2. lOl, if u say so. well, then the pierre/speed trolling has a long, long lead.

  4. The Dodgers list of hitters is quite impressive, but since Florida will be giving up Willis won't they be asking for starting pitching back?? Their starters absolutely suck. LA looks a little slim in this department. Billingsly has nice AAA numbers, but so did E. Jackson and Rich Hill. Marshall has shown he can get major league hitters out.
  5. Theoretically, sure. Trib ain't gonna blow it up til the deadline w/ all this money invested.
  6. hill's usage of "gutless" & "pathetic" set himself up to look like an idiot. i'm sure the writers had a good chuckle when ozzie mocked him. if hill shuts them down, then fire away, but he got lit. his outing was pathetic...
  7. I don't buy that. The Dodgers don't have any young starting pitchers up and doing well. Their last phenom/can't miss was Edwin Jackson. How's he doing? If they had a bunch of studs, then Tomko & Sele wouldn't be starting. Marshall's actually doing quite well on the major league level.
  8. Was listening to SoCal radio today and Lee Hamilton said that there are reports that 10 teams have contacted Florida about Willis. Florida wants a truckload of prospects. Hamilton said the Dodgers are in the running, as they have a great minor league system. Anyone think Marshall, Pie and a filler or 2 could get this done?
  9. if they want a near career .840 ops guy, go after soriano and put him @ 2b. would be nice to have him this year. those 14 homers double the cubs top guy. :x
  10. It's not wise to talk smack after you give up a grand slam a few hitters later, and basically get your butt handed to you.
  11. Soriano will be at the top of the Cubs list. Mark this down fellas.
  12. Pierre's career games played: 886 Hill's career games played: 13 Excellent comparison. i know. pierre's actually done something on the major league level. hill's definitely more to blame for the cubs' season than pierre. if people want to troll about pierre/speed, fine. i just find it funny when hill gets ripped a few times and it gets called out as trolling right away. hopefully, the hill bandwagon can handle all the vultures circling. :D
  13. as the incomparable burt reynolds says, "You don't get it."
  14. alou's the biggest signing in recent history. the cubs shouldn't use wood as an excuse. that was the organization's call. the prior & lee excuse is plenty.

  16. yes, they could see this coming from the stellar minor league numbers, right? whatever, dude. you're just looking for some way to bash people that think hendry and dusty are doing a terrible job. this is stretching. hill sucked last year. he's 26 and hasn't done anything yet. a lot of older minor leaguers have put up good numbers and not amounted to anything. heck, they brought up someone who has barely pitched AAA, guzman, before hill. the incessant ripping of hendry and baker's reluctance was off-base & way overboard. not really troll, the point was that hendry refused to trade him but wouldn't give him a chance - pretty simple concept really. Of course, you presumably think all major leaguers come to the majors and dominate right away. he "refused to trade him" according to who? pierre & speed jokes get thrown around here daily. rip a allegedly good prospect and it's considered trolling. makes sense.
  17. bring up jwilliams. thanx prior
  18. Excellent point. When the Trib allows a Cub GM to sign someone the caliber of Beltran or Giles or Pedro or Colon or Vlad, I'll go into shock. His name is Derek Lee, but I get your point. Trib Sox, no question. I'm sick of having a faceless entity running my lifelong baseball passion. It's long past time someone own this team who matches the passion of the fans. The Cubs are willing to spend some on their own, but never on anyone from outside the organization. Lee came at a bargain price too. He could have got a lot more, if he tested the FA waters.

  20. the trib's not going to pay 2 guys derek lee money. this has nothing to do w/ hendry. watch the cubs pursue cliff floyd for 1 yr. and 5 million. floyd could have a comeback year ya know!
  21. 5/22/06 AP report: 2b Edgardo Alfonzo signs with the Cubs.
  22. Hendry & Dusty got ripped apart for not giving the kids a chance. Now, it's pretty obvious why they were so reluctant to go w/ this kid.
