  1. Milledge is better than Pie, and Cameron is a little better than Gerut. So it would definitely take Pie. At least in that incarnation of the deal. Can Murton play rf?? If so, send them Burnitz, Pie and Rusch. They can use a lefty reliever/starter. I'm tired of waiting til next year.
  2. Ben Mahler on Fox radio was saying that Cameron and Milledge for Manny and $15 million is a possibility. If so, I'd be ticked that the Cubs couldn't top that.
  3. He won't get a shot at everyday until he's dealt off. Baker will credit himself w/ putting Murton in the right type of situations. Every hit Murton has got so far is due to Dusty. Jmo but I agree w/ BBB that the Cubs will deal for a LF, and my guess is Floyd. Sorry but Floyd > Murton.
  4. Stone doesn't have any inside information. Period. He speaks in rhetorical, rambling terms. He's not the baseball Einstein than some make him out to be. I'm pretty much sick of the fact no one has seen through this. Listen to him talk sometime-he doesn't actually *say* anything that is insightful. Good in-game color guy. Bad baseball mind. Bad judge of talent. He'd make an awful GM. Look at that Trade. We take on $30m extra in payroll and give up several players for 2 players that are no better than what we already have. For Stone to suggest trading a 27 year old entering his prime for a 33 year old leaving his prime than makes twice as much is idiotic. His original idea, which was Manny and Mueller for Aramis and others, is completely stupid. Basically, we'd be trading for the 2001 Cubs. Manny would play Sosa, and Mueller would be himself. How did that team do? Mueller is basically no better than Murton would be everyday in LF, and Aramis is every bit as good as Manny. All you accomplish is taking on salary while shifting your production from one position to another, but you aren't any better. Well, I'm not advocating it, but team ops would be up 130 points and Manny's a long way from done. Get him out of Boston and he may put up a 1.000+ ops again. I know some of you don't believe in change of scenery stuff, so no need to berate me. I accept being wrong. Also, I hope that Wood goes to TX to help absord the additional payroll. The Cubs can just retain Patterson. Aramis Ramirez is one of the best hitters in the major leagues. Aramis Ramirez has yet to enter his prime. Aramis Ramirez is not overpaid. Keep Aramis Ramirez. Let me also go on record as saying I'm not against a trade for a left-fielder, IF he can move to right next year. Matt Murton will be a star. All the talk of upgrading our team OPS is fairly irrelevant due to Hollandsworth and Perez. With Nomar and Murton we are a FAR better team. I like Murton, but #2 hitters like Murton are dime a dozen. Manny >>>> Murton.

  6. Maybe Stone has a little insider info & is on to something... Would anyone be mad if Soriano, Mueller and Manny ended up in Chicago, with ARam, Walker, Patterson, Mitre and a few other players leaving???? Lineup: Hairston Mueller Lee Manny Burnitz Sori Nomah Barrett
  7. I can't see an idiot organization like Tampa Bay helping facilitate a blockbuster deal. Never know though... LA being involved could throw a big wrench into things. They may have the pitchers that Texas likes. Apparently, Weaver's on the block, and I'm guessing that DePodesta loves Manny.
  8. I'd be fine with Floyd. I was hoping we would get Floyd for Sosa. But, I'd like to see Hendry exhaust all efforts for Dunn first. The lineup would be pretty balanced w/ lefties and righties w/ Floyd. My guess is that Murton would be the odd man out. Perhaps they can trade him & Patterson for a pitcher?? I just heard that Anaheim's in discussions w/ SF, so my guess is that Schmidt's on the block.
  9. Man I need ESPNews. Hopefully this isn't a done deal. Actually my guess is that the Cubs get Floyd. That's just a classic Trib move. Nothing too big, but a nice move.
  10. I heard the rumor on Loose Cannon's on 570, so take it for what it's worth. My guess is that Cincy just doesn't want to deal w/ the Cubs. Hope my hunch is wrong.
  11. I heard on LA radio today that Cincy wants Antonio Perez and a Dodger propsect (think it's a pitching prospect) for Dunn.
  12. I am in agreement....whatever happens, I would put Murton on a list of prospects that we must keep. He's shown too much talent and giftedness in his stint this year to be trade fodder, even if it is for someone like Manny R or Soriano... Murton's a good hitter and all, but it's not like he's some 5 tool guy. I'd give him up for Manny in a second. I'm tired of waiting til next year.
  13. Hmmmm... Maybe Millar to NY and Walker to Boston along w/ Floyd. Cubs can put Hairston at 2b and Patterson in CF. Going to need better d in cf w/ Manny out there. :)
  14. This quote should be in every signature on NSBB in extra-large type until people get the point. No. It shouldn't. The whole "No Trade Clause" thing is more than obnoxious enough already. Everybody has been made well aware of the clause by now numerous times. And still there are more than enough people who are all too eager to point it out yet again anytime anyone intimates that it might, just might not be completely and utterly impossible, barring an act of God himself, to get Hendry, another GM and Wood himself to agree upon a deal. (Because in this particular case nobody has yet been, and nobody's gonna be, challenged for presuming to know what's going on inside the minds of a player and his wife at any given time. Nor will the presumption that Kerry's [already only assumed to be known] position on accepting a trade will, or ever could, change. It's common knowledge. Kerry will never, ever accept a trade under any circumstances and that's all there is to it. Right? Isn't that the prevailing wisdom?) Believe me, there is absolutely no chance the clause won't be mentioned (more than once) each and every time it's even remotely relevant. There's actually less chance of that than there is of Wood accepting a trade. Automating the process would only be taking the fun out of taking an indignant stance re: any and all trade scenarios involving Wood. That is a very good post. Thank you. I, too, get tired of the "no-trade" clause being brought up every time his name is mentioned here with regard to a trade. I wish the "no trade clause" would be renamed so we can say that Kerry has a "Must Get Kerry's Permission/Approval for a Trade First" clause. Because that's what it really is. And plenty of players with "no trade clauses HAVE been traded in the past. But he and his wife have a home in Chicago!! That's one of the most irrelevant lines I hear when trading Kerry comes up. A house is pocket change for some of these guys.
  15. Not much of an upgrade really. I rather send some players to Texas, so they'll give up Soriano to Boston. Makes LOTS of sense for Boston.
  16. Well whaddaya know. ARam delivers the game winner and Macias scores the game winning run. :)
  17. With an all star 3b out, the lineup's pretty weak. This shows ARam importance.
  18. Yeah, I just read that story here. I don't see why the Cubs would send Walker to Texas and then move Soriano to LF. Who becomes our 2B then? Neifi? :x Hairston at 2b, Patterson back in Cf. The defense would be better. Lineup ~ Hairston, Nomah, Lee, Burnitz, ARam, Soriano, Patterson & Barrett
  19. All this stuff about sending Kerry to the pen could be about making him waive the belove no-trade clause. If Kerry wants to start next year, it may have to be on some other team. Hendry may have had enough.
  20. Getting a lefty LF makes lots of sense for the Cubs. Perhaps Murton goes to NY??? Take out Murton & add Holla with Mitre & Welly. I'd be shocked if Holla has any value. As for Murton, can he play rf?? If not, Dusty will bury him this year and next.
  21. Getting a lefty LF makes lots of sense for the Cubs. Perhaps Murton goes to NY???
  22. There's no way in H that Dusty gives Pie a shot at leadoff straight from Double A. If TX wants pitching, pitching, pitching.... Texas trades Soriano Texas gets Pinto or Brownlie, Rusch & PTNBL - Kerry Wood Boston trades Manny Boston gets Soriano Cubs trade Wood, Pinto, Brownlie Cubs get Manny
  23. Can Wood be added as a PTBNL in a 3 way deal?? I've read you can't trade guys on the DL. Perhaps Kerry doesn't like the idear of returning as a reliever and will waive his no-trade clause. Hope so.
