  1. should have pulled him jones grand slam coming.
  2. Bynum's ops vs. righties coming into today was .680 in 32 abs, and will go up w/ the homer. Murton was @ .600. Heck Bynum even laid down a sac bunt. Will Baker install a platoon?
  3. he gave him 3 years cause other teams were offering him 2 and he didn't want encanarcion, sanders and burnitz. sure he likes him, but he doesn't "covet" Jones-types. that's absurd. he covets beltran-types, but the trib doesn't covet 7yr and 119 contracts. What is absurd is the fact that it's true that Hendry likes Jones type players. It's painfully obvious to anybody that has paid attention to Hendry moves and/or listened to what he says he likes in a player. so flip flopping on the coveting charge? jones hasn't sucked like many predicted. calm down. funny coming from a guy who used to be pierre's biggest supporter and now wants him benched. difference... i change when the info changes. i'll let you figure out the rest.
  4. pierre can't play in a big market.
  5. dang cubs can beat hudson and contreras, but can't beat the piece of craps florida threw out there. :(
  6. guy has some points. cubs won a lot of games the first two years. however, the players have bought into too many of baker's excuses. a change needs to be made. they should be 3 under .500, not 10 under.
  7. where's the direct quote about coveting jones?
  8. look up the word covet fellas.

What? How am I flip flopping? Man, you really like acting like a jerk don't you. Hendry covets this type of player. He's happy as a pig in spit that he got him and he's going to keep him. another in a long line of over-the-top statements.

  12. 3 year deal how did a slim free agency market force his hand for 3 years? so you wanted encanarcion for 2? burnitz for 1? 50 yr. old reggie sanders for 2? (iirc sander was for 2. maybe not tho...)
  13. watch hendry trade murton for soriano. i'm going into hiding if that happens. :D
  14. so now hendry "covets" jones-type players. perhaps a slim free agency market forced his hand? jones has proven so far to be a better option than sanders, encanarcion & burnitz. hendry messed up by not signing jermaine dye a few years ago. btw, who had dye pegged as a good pickup besides the alleged dummy, kenny williams??
  15. trade pierre & hill for craig wilson & put jones in cf. the cubs gain 300 points in ops right there. i hate giving up murton, who's an ideal 2 hitter. i don't think taking walks is real important, but you can't be dead last either. i'd much rather give up cedeno, but i have a feeling they want thim to lead off. he's a perfect baker leadoff man. no patience, but fast.
  16. 4. trading for pierre instead of castillo..
  17. jack wilson pittsburgh stinks & wilson makes $5 million. the cubs could trade cedeno for him, and get a 115 point jump in ops. he's due to be a free agent after 2007 correct?
  18. he can't handle personal situations well at all, but I'd take him over Hendry in a heartbeat. He knows how to setup a good team, something Hendry has failed to do. Not really. He basically caught lightning in a bottle recently. Moneyball paints him as a bumbling idiot, but I guess everyone is compared to Billy Beane. so much for moneyball. it probably said that dye, thome and contreras were done...
  19. ?? murton, cedeno, hill, guzman, marshall and williams have gotten a chance to play. How about Pie? no reason to call him up and have patterson part II. he doesn't need to be infected by this sick bunch anyways. keep him in iowa.
  20. No way the Trib hires DePo considering his track record. DePo presided over the worse Dodger team in a long time in 2005 & the media hated him. He needs to brush up on his p.r. skills. The 2005 team had some cub luck and had some big injuries (drew & gagne), but I think the trib would look at his 71-91 and say no way. Hendry hasn't been that bad.
