he didn't really say anything interesting. he said all the things new managers say "play the game the right way, players must be accountable, hustle, sometimes you need to create runs and not rely on the home run, advanced numbers are great but they're only 1 option, etc. etc. etc." the most interesting part was that it seemed pretty obvious to me sveum wants to overhaul the coaching staff.

meh. if alomar has a reputation for the ability to handle pitchers well and has the respect of his players, he's good enough. and even though his answer about stats wasn't ideal, at least he didn't throw in any nonsense about playing the game the right way, sac bunting, hit and runs, small ball wins games, etc.
