  1. everything would have been fine it people didn't give selig crap for (rightly) declaring that one all star game a tie.
  2. nsbb's back baby
  3. it'll be like 2008's regular season every year, i'm so excited.
  4. the one ray of hope: 1975 carlton fisk hits a crushing home run for reds fans to force a game 7, but the red sox end up losing. i hope we're due for another one of those.
  5. i can appreciate and accept the fact that it'll be the most famous world series game ever. i hated it though.
  6. good thread idea. i agree with a lot of your choices, so i'll just add a couple that you didn't put on. -front row court side seats to any nba game. -attend a wrestlemania (i'm counting it as a sport) you pretty much covered everything else i'd want to see
  7. i love how after i read sneakpower's posts, it looks like tony larussa can't believe what i just read. edit: OMG WHERE DID SP'S POST GO
  8. here's my theory sure to be wrong: theo thinks that the manager, while not unimportant, doesn't have a signficant impact on wins and losses. he knows that ryno's dream job is to manage the cubs, and that ryno will be willing to play the game 'the cubs way' to get his job. he knows he'll get some cred from the meatball cubs fans if they hire ryno. and even with ryno's tendency for small ball, it's very likely that the reports are that his players like playing for ryno, they respect him, he keeps his players focused and ready, and other fun intangibles. so basically, i would be surprised if our manager in 2012 was anyone but ryne sandberg.
  9. i laughed way too hard at that
  10. one thing i thought was interesting was how he said he 'learned from his mistakes' and will focus on signing players that he'll have during their prime years (which he defined as 26-32). i wonder if that's a sign that he'll be more focused on prince than pujols this offseason
  11. tony making excuses? there really is a first time for everything.
  12. LOCK LOCK LOCK
  13. no response to this post, just want to say the gif in your sig is amazing
  14. uh oh i see a little twinge of regret on theo's face
  15. we'll get you to come around on alou eventually, too.
  16. good call. it's probably why he hasn't answered questions yet
  17. i'll take the dh any day over larussa double switching and going to the bullpen 33 times a game
  18. i think the raiders need to start the carson palmer era right now
  19. you guys are fine. treymon started the thread
  20. if we win a world series with ryno i'll personally erect a statue of him at wrigley field and will slap anyone who speaks ill of him
  21. it's a 162 game season. every player is going to have wtf moments. kaplan sure does focus more on the latin players' mistakes.
  22. bring on ryno. sure he'll whine and complain a lot and probably make some boneheaded decisions. but it hasn't prevented la russa's success. we win either way. either ryno doesn't do well and the cubs meatheads can move on from their fantasy. or ryno succeeds and we'll all love him equally as a manager as we did when he was a player.
