  1. Cespedes: (age 25): .333/.424/.667, 33 HR in 354 AB Jose Abreu (age 24): .453/.597/.986, 33 HR in 212 AB  good god. someone tell cc to get on his private jet and fly this guy to chicago.
  2. we're gonna have to expand wrigley to fit all our world series trophies.
  3. he hasn't been perfect, but i can't see how someone can objectively say selig has been bad as a commsioner.
  4. eh, since santo's in the hall of fame now, i probably won't be as upset when inferior players get elected.
  5. if bud selig didn't look and sound like a gargoyle he'd probably be universally adored
  6. awesome. hopefully he makes some more awesome changes before he does retire.
  7. just paypal the money to me and i'll bet it for you
  8. tim mccarver #1?
  9. He's had 1 crappy season in the past 4, so he should be one of those guys that gives you decent performance when he does pitch. Not sure what prevented him from racking up the IP, but he has made 30+ starts in 4 of 6 seasons. He does seem like a guy who can be useful on a team that actually scores some runs. exactly. if the cubs were going for it this year i'd be behind the deal. but for a rebuilding team, i don't think an above average veteran starter is a hole we need to worry about.
  10. i'll trust theo and jed, but i don't really see the point.
  11. yeah, that was such a freaking swing. i was rooting for the bengals hard, and that was an awfully debilitating play. yeah, i think the pacman jones/andre johnson travesty was 2 or 3 plays later, which put the dagger in
  12. going back to the bengals game, if chris crocker makes that tailor-made pick 6 that game would have been very interesting. but oh well, they probably shouldn't even have made the playoffs, and there is some great potential still in the dalton/green partnership.
  13. bengals over texans steelers over broncos saints over lions giants over falcons bengals over patriots steelers over ravens saints over 49ers giants over packers steelers over bengals saints over giants saints over steelers
  14. based on hoyer's comments on spring training, i think the job is pretty much lahair's.
  15. Keep in mind that he also suffered from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2008. Part of the increase in stats is moving to the PCL. Part of it is maturing as a player. Part of it is also getting further away from his disease. but that's the good hodgkins, right?
  16. i am legit curious if he wants to get into broadcasting. brenly's schtick is old, but he's still so much better than most of the morons out there. i think he definitely wants to be a part of the cubs organization after he retires. i just assumed it would be broadcasting.
  17. yeah, i can't believe the patriots don't have a single win against a team with a winning record. even the bengals beat the titans!
  18. just give kerry wood 4 million this year and give him brenly's job in 2013. everyone's happy.
  19. Unfair, but it illustrates the point. As 21 year olds: Rizzo: .331/.404/.652/1.056 in AAA LaRoche: .251/.305/.361/.666 in A+ Sure, don't disagree. There's higher pedigree with Rizzo, and there's higher potential. I was just pointing to what Sickels wrote on his likely prime - a .260-.280 hitter, 25-30 HR's, and plenty of walks, along with a solid glove at first. LaRoche put up those numbers from 06 to 2010 and was hurt last year. sign me up for those numbers.
  20. it's so strange seeing that come out of the cubs front office
  21. this is a great trade just for rizzo. to get an intriguing arm too is excellent.
  22. yeah i'm sure a major league organization is going to give hush money to a possible rape victim. sounds like a solid p.r. move. it's the new market inefficiency
  23. this never would have happened if aramis had stepped up in the clubhouse as a leader
