  1. ned yost doesn't have an endless supply of minor league talent to fill his holes? and frank robinson? are you serious?
  2. That would be much better. I would be willing to pay $3-$5 a game if I can just watch them when I want/when I can instead of shelling out $150 for EI and missing half the games I think you can download baseball games for like 2 bucks on mlb.com.
  3. I don't think other teams are allowed to negotiate with Neifi.
  4. Should have been Santana. But Colon isn't a terrible pick either. He had a great season.
  5. If that happens, it won't be because Neifi got some at bats from the bench. It'll just be one of many factors. If they let him start at SS or 2B, that would be pretty bad, and he'll probably get plenty of at bats either way with Dusty managing, but it seems odd how so many people like to pretend that Neifi is going to bring the team down single-handedly. Maybe his greatest value is as a scapegoat. Then again, I'm confident we'd all find someone else to blame if he left. It's just not Neifi. It's because Hendry hasn't shown to me, and many other posters, that he's capable of making the moves necessary to make the Cubs better than the Cardinals, Astros, and Brewers. Re-signing Neifi and Rusch to relatively pricey deals isn't a good sign.
  6. I refuse to believe that Hendry sees Dunn as anything but a guy with a low average and below-average defense who strikes out a ton.
  7. The Cubs are hopeless until there's a regime change.
  8. Why not just keep Nick Johnson and not deal with Helton's contract?
  9. I never liked the move in the first place. yeah i miss jody gerut too :(
  10. He must have quit when the Pirates traded him.
  11. i'm pretty sure those rules are for everyone else but len. i mean come on
  12. I wonder if that includes things expressly forbidden by law? :-k ARod isn't breaking the law. And the whole questioning ARod's character because he hangs out with Phil Hellmuth is ridiculous. He's a grown man, he can play poker if he wants to.
  13. haha i didn't know we were enemies
  14. I also think a lot of Yankees-haters don't appreciate how good Jeter actually is. Overrated? Sure. Great? Yes. Most overrated player of all time? God no.
  15. Didn't Hunter miss at least half the season?
  16. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Len Kasper is the greatest announcer in the history of baseball. Nay, sports.
  17. So you are thinking it is a coincedence that the only two "moneyballers" besides Bean were let go/walked away? I'm not saying it's not but I find it interesting. The Gary Hughes' of the world hate the stat heads. Well, Theo was offered a 3 year extension and Theo turned it down.
  18. I agree - I've always thought he was one of the most overrated minds in baseball. My impression is that he's very good at dissecting in game situations, but terrible when it comes to evaluating players and teams as a whole. Yeah, he doesn't do a good job adaping to new methods of evaluating the players. He's far too married to old school methodology. Those are fair points. His in-game instinct are astounding at times. His talent evaluation may be less so. I just realized all of those describe Joe Morgan too.
  19. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Kearns is traded to the Cubs.
  20. I think the real question is how bad will he regress. He can still regress this year and be very very helpful to the Cubs.
