    Miguel Cabrera is a lot better than Matt Murton and also younger. If Matt Murton is what prevents us from going after Miguel Cabrera, it might be time for a new general manager. (PS I'm aware of the fact that we're probably not after Miguel Cabrera, I'm just saying)

    I don't think I really started hating them until I joined NSBB. I always thought of them as the Cubs rivals, but my hatred for them didn't start until I became more internet savvy.

    What's the old saying about even a blind squirrel finding a nut once in a while? are sac flies really that great? if instead of adam dunn hitting 7 hrs with runners on 3rd less than 2 outs between 2003-2005, he hit 7 deep fly balls, no one would be talking about his lack of sac flies as if it's some kind of detriment to his game.

    I don't disagree, but I think umpires deciding what probably would have happened is a pretty bad trend to start.

    DUNN IS ON FIIIIIIIIIIRE 417/429/1000 dunn also hit a homerun in between and over the smokestacks at gabp.

    Check out the highlights from today's Reds vs. Pirates game. Brief description: Dunn is up to bat with 2 outs. Runners on 1st and 2nd. Dunn hits a flyball to centerfield, the centerfielder dives, the ball hits the grass and goes into his glove, but the umpire doesn't see that and calls him out. Reds fans and players go nuts, umps have a conference, overturn the call, and a run is allowed to score. Now, the ump clearly blew the call. But can you really overturn a 3rd out call like that, and then let a runner score? To me, it seems like that should be completely impossible. But it happened.

    well, i'm at 3 now, since the game is nice enough not to include my moises alou pick a couple days ago due to the rainout. i thought it would start me back at 0. edwin encarnacion for 4 tonight!

    haha corey patterson not playing well gives me intense pleasure as well another former cub mark grudzielanek went 0/4 yesterday too, ah hahahahahaha. that makes me feel so good.

    Because that was probably one of those few and far between times when the pitch was perfect enough to swing at. But if someone hacks at the first pitch and creates an out, that's essentially the worst thing you could do with your at-bat (striking out eats up 3 pitches at least), and the hitter should definitely be criticized for it.

    No. Getting on base is the most important thing. What "we" are saying is that hitting homeruns >>>>>>>>>>>>>> causing havoc on the bases.

    An overreaction can't be something I've said for the past 3 seasons. I find it a little hard to understand how people can actually defend his Defensive abilities. Seriously. Do you actually watch the games? Amazing. Like I said, very good hitter but c'mon he is a TERRIBLE Catcher. This garbage is nothing new here. SO again, let's all just agree as a whole and move onto another topic we can easily disagree on and LEGITAMTELY debate, for example whether or not it's impossible for a team to win the Division with Jones hitting 5th in the order. I've arbitrarily decided for the 3rd year in a row it's impossible to win the division, so no discussing that either. Holy crap dude, did you really start a topic about Michael Barrett's defense for the sole reason of not debating it?

    Pretty bad when defending someone you can't even defend him and go WAY off topic. Game would've been tied if not for Barrett's 2 bonehead plays. This was only the 2nd game folks, get used to seeing this all year. Get used to the Cubs pitchers giving up tons of walks too, and blaming the catcher instead of the pitcher.

    I'm still worried about the Cubs offense. Getting a bunch of runs in GABP against crappy Reds pitchers isn't enough to convince me. And I'm also still worried about the starting pitching.
