robert horry's specialty is making 3 pointers, therefore i'd want him to shoot a 3 pointer with the game on the line. derek jeter's specialty is not getting hits in clutch situations. in fact, he's probably no better at it than 70% of the people on the list. your comparison doesn't work.

Like I said, I don't think Dusty really blew it. I'd prefer Dempster be out there, but there's other ways. The complete lack of offense is why the Cubs lost.

I could easily think of several dozen hitters I'd rather have up than Jeter. Care to name a few? I would also take Pujols also. excluding ortiz and pujols: derrek lee, a-rod, travis hafner, manny ramirez, carlos delgado, todd helton, jason giambi, jason bay, vladimir guerrero, mark teixeira, miguel cabrera, ken griffey jr, morgan ensberg, lance berkman, adam dunn, aramis ramirez, andruw jones, jim edmonds, chase utley, david wright, chad tracy, richie sexson, paul konerko, brian giles, brian roberts, michael young, pat burrell, gary sheffield, jeff kent, geoff jenkins, nick johnson, jhonny pheralta, troy glaus, david delluci, bobby abreu, matt holliday, miguel tejada, mike sweeney, cliff floyd, hideki matsui, randy winn, jason varitek, victor martinez, and jermaine dye.

Everybody ripped him when he left for Cincinnati. If I remember correctly, he actually took less money to play in Cincinnati than what somebody else offered him. Griffey: "Oops" -
I wish Dempster was brought in the 9th, but it didn't really matter, there's no way the Cubs were gonna score again that game anyways.

I personally thought that Dempster should have started the 9th. He's our best reliever, so he should have faced the top of the order in the 9th, that's when we needed our best reliever.

Maybe we look at things differently. Maddux made 34 starts. Prior made 27 starts. Hill and Koronka made 7 starts combined. When you add those 7 starts, which probably wouldn't have occured if Prior was healthy, the total ERA is about 4.60. You're right, we do look at things differently.

Maddux wasn't better than Prior in 2005.

Good question. Didn't Zambrano had better success when Blanco was catching for him last year? Zambrano's best season (2004) happened when Barrett caught him almost exclusively. -
