  2. Usually when you buy low, you don't give up anything of value
  3. i'm with rocket here: Except that's a dumb slogan, since there a plenty of company's who make the same stuff. and i guarantee there's at least 1 person in this world who does not like sara lee.
  4. i've never seen it before and i always heard it as "nobody does it like sara lee." i like that way better. down with double-negatives! exactly! "nobody doesn't like sara lee" just sounds stupid. if that's what they wanted to say, then "everybody likes sara lee" rolls off the tongue better and doesn't sound stupid. \ it's "nobody does it like sara lee" despite what the company may say. You are dumb. attack post not poster plz

  6. Randy Bush was on XM radio, and he basically laughed off the Peavy trade rumors, saying they're not true.
  7. IRRELEVANT.
  8. Pick the right one. I've gotten in heated debates about this before.
  9. well crap, maybe i shouldn't have quit my job and bought a new bmw. i'm not very good at this.
  10. Innocent until proven guilty. Just ask Rogers Clemens and Rod Blagojevich. Except no one has ever made a legitimate case against Sosa except "He had muscles and hit a lot of homers and spoke Spanish in front of Congressmen!" And he's a caught cheater in an era where it was the most common form of cheating. And Joe Morgan cheated in the same way that Sammy did. You guys aren't this naive are you? if anything, sammy took anti-steroids to make him a worse player but he was still amazing
  11. Their top 9 CFers were: 9) Kirby Puckett 8) Jim Edmonds 7) Duke Snider 6) Ken Griffey Jr. 5) Joe DiMaggio 4) Tris Speaker 3) Mickey Mantle 2) Ty Cobb 1) Willie Mays I really liked that they had Speaker so highly (right where he should be I think). Shows that they put at least some thought into it. Jim Edmonds number 9? Really? He was excellent in his prime, but his prime was during the steroids era and his peak years were mysteriously short and came in his early 30's. I might take Kenny Lofton over him, and Lofton definitely isn't among the top 9 CFs of all time. Jim Edmonds was awesome, and should probably go to the hall of fame. The Kirby Puckett listing is the one that's outrageous, not Jimmy. Agreed. Edmonds easily belongs on that list.
  12. i'll take the bengals since no one else likes them
  13. The story headline asks if he's a Hall of Famer. I don't think so, but it might be a decent debate. he certainly should be if sandberg is in.
  14. Sammy Sosa's still innocent baby
  15. go kurt warner and the cards.
  16. i'm betting on whichever qb loves jesus more from now on. he's making his impact in both college and nfl.
  17. I'm fairly certain 99% of the people on this board would have OPSd 000 last year. i think, given enough plate appearances, i could eventually draw a walk or get hit by a pitch. so screw you
  18. That is a really stupid thing to say. I mean incredibly ignorant. Pitchers can't commit themselves to not get hurt, or get back from injuries. hahaha, no it's not. you're essentially saying that effort in recovering from an injury means nothing. THAT's the stupid thing to say. you don't really believe that, now do you? no one's saying that. everyone is saying there's no reason to believe that mark prior isn't giving any effort.
  19. what a stupid thing to say. umm no. i think we all understand who is saying the stupid things in this thread. i see. this must be the "group think" that i've been told by others is northsidebaseball's biggest downfall. you've convinced me. the only thing standing in the way of mark prior getting healthy is his effort. not the fact that his shoulder was misdiagnosed for a couple years and has been found to have quite a few problems.
  20. Hell of a good question. what else is there to talk about in january?
  21. It's a good and fair question and one I'm going to have to confront pretty soon. I had always gone with the Rolling Stones song of time being on my side here when it comes to considering McGwire. But as my friend Joe Sheean of BP points out, that's probably no longer a good approach because we're probably not going to get any more info on McGwire and steroids. Can I ask why you voted for Jack Morris? The main thing I always hear about is that he was awesome in the 1991 World Series. But overall, his postseason numbers are good but not great, and I would classify his career regular season numbers as "pretty good". But definitely not HOF material.
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3829521 Probably officially eliminates the Braves from the Peavy talks, though that probably does nothing to the Cubs' chances of landing him.
  23. Man, if Larkin's career had started 5 years sooner he'd be a first ballot HOF'er no question.
