  1. Larry is hardly to blame for Guzman's previous health struggles, and Hill had a good season under Larry's watch, I don't think he's to blame for Hill's mental problems. The Cubs have had close to the best staff in the majors nearly every year under Larry's watch. Of course he hasn't been perfect, but I don't think the Cubs would have been better off with a different pitching coach.
  2. more like andy white, right guys?
  3. i think he has such a high baseball iq, that if lou would put him out there everyday his bat would come around and he'd be an offensive threat.
  4. smoltz and glavine will be on that list in the next few weeks, probably.
  5. you would think the best fans in baseball would make a comfortable environment for khalil.
  6. i prefer not to know anything about my cubs heroes, since i'm sure they're all jerks in their own special way. didn't bill simmons write a column once about how when he worked at the jimmy kimmel show, a bunch of the red sox were on and he hung out with them after the show. he said something to the effect of that when they went to a club, the players would take off their wedding rings and say "i'm not married tonight!".
  7. so when the brewers fans do it they're jobless, but if we do it we're passionate?
  8. I don't know about you but I'd rather be a fan of the 83 win Cardinals team. 116 wins no ring is just depressing. And hey look, Lou was the manager of that team. You didn't answer the question. I didn't ask which you'd rather be a fan of. The goal in Spring Training isn't to win the most games in the regular season and fizz out in October. It's to win a World Series. So yes 2006 Cardinals>2001 Mariners. and if you're team is only good enough to win 83 games then you're going to miss the playoffs 99% of the time.
  9. 2 0 3 1 6 0 0 Those are the Cubs walk totals during the losing streak. What the hell happened to this team?
  10. why wouldn't the giants just trade cain for cantu? horrible trade for the giants. cain should close to untouchable, let alone available for derrek lee.
  11. now the cubs are the winners in the juan pierre trade
  12. http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/sea/ticketing/special_group.jsp?group=cheezburger let this internet fad die already dammit
  13. Looks like everyones trying to plug in their holes but us. seriously? if there's a good thing about hendry it's that he's not the least bit shy about making mid-season deals to help the team.
  14. The key difference here is that Neifi showed he was pretty terrible before that season, while Scales has put together a good minor league career and hasn't been given a chance to show what he can do in the majors. There's much more reason to believe Scales can be an .800 OPS guy this year than there was for Neifi. yeah, i didn't look at his minor league numbers and now i look like an ass. sucks to me
  15. plz pitch zambrano in the make up game
  16. there was a middle infielder who once put up a .369/.397/.554 line in his 1st 130 at bats for the cubs. we all learned to hate him eventually. let's not get too excited just yet.
  17. drop ludwick add longoria please
  18. yeah, i only express satisfaction in front of other cubs fans
  19. I hate this argument so much. He didn't pretend to not understand english. He simply felt more comfortable speaking through an interpreter at a congressional hearing. It doesn't even make sense to link that to steroid use. The questions and answers are the same regardless if he uses an interpreter or not.
  20. why would any team give up a good player for a bad, expensive player?
  21. i figure most teams don't have a good record when they don't score a lot of runs.
  22. I like this trade, Freel's decline be damned. I always liked him. He's our 25th man who can play a lot of positions and can work a count. I think he'll be fine here.
  23. I finally got a red star!!
  24. maybe. but why is zambrano wearing a sombrero?
