    While Im not saying he throws meatballs every time, hes allowed 10HR in under 50 innings, and RH hitters are OPS'ing almost 800 against him, thats not good. i hate him and wish the cubs never traded for him. but he is effective at times, and sadly he's probably our best option to close right now.

    if he threw meatballs every time, he wouldn't have a k/9 above 9, and he wouldn't have a .230 BAA.

    because he's better than kerry wood No. He's just not. Wood is struggling in his first year in a new league. He'll be much better next year. Gregg just has long periods where he just plain sucks, like April and the first 2 days in August, for example. There's no comparison between the 2; yes Kerry is struggling this year, but his ERA over his career is considerably better than Gregg's and he's thrown a helluva lot more innings; does anyone really think a closer with a career ERA of almost 4 is worth a damn? I sure don't kevin gregg is better than kerry wood this year. what kind of stat is there that will say otherwise?

    rolen is still under contract til 2010. since encarnacion is horrible, i'd imagine they're doing the trade more for next season than this one.
