  1. actually, it's because dusty baker didn't visit the mound to calm prior down after alou tried to cheat. only the hardcore cubs fans like myself know that.
  2. he'd be a league-minimum player with excellent defense in a lineup that doesn't really need anymore offensive firepower. if they're really in a pinch for a body to fill that position, i guess patterson isn't the worst option in the world.
  3. wait, you mean bbb's post was serious? i thought he was mocking cubsclippersfan or whatever his name was.
  4. Even if Bartman doesn't attempt to catch the ball, it was a difficult catch and there's no guarantee Alou comes down with it. He may have caught it, but if you look at the tape is glove is just above the top of the wall. He could have hit the wall on the way down and the ball could have been knocked loose. Alex Gonzalez booting an easy DP ball bears 10,000 times more blame than Bartman. Exactly. I watched Moises Alou purposely kick a ball into the ivy to try to give the appearance that it was lost in the ivy from the start. If he just bends his lazy ass over and picks up the ball, he holds the guy to a double. Instead, the hitter circles the bases for an inside the park home run. Not only was he lazy, but he was caught cheating. He's a lazy bastard that was getting his 11m whether he made that catch or not. Alou wasn't mad that he didn't make the play. He was attempting to cheat once again by pretending like he had even a remote opportunity of going over the wall to make that catch when he probably would have realistically gave up about a foot or two before the ball hit his glove. He was trying to con the umpires into believing he was going to catch that ball. I'm not buying his act, and neither did the umpires who were standing right on the line of where the ball was coming down. The ball wasn't even in play. Let's do a documentary on the balls that were in play that didn't get fielded cleanly. That's why the Cubs lost, not some mysterious fan in the crowd. I watched that video quite a few times. Bartman wasn't the only person trying to catch that ball. Several people were. And that's because it was in foul territory and at a place where the wall is pretty high. If it wasn't Bartman, it might have ended up being someone else, but most certainly not Moises "Pee Hands" Alou. hahahahahaha
  5. fukudome has a no trade clause, right? why on earth would he approve a deal to the nationals?
  6. please start simlar milton bradley and mike fontenot threads.
  7. take THAT, abuck
  8. he's more famous for not being in the hall anyways. let him in, then people will finally shut up about him.
  9. I'm not quite as anti-Stone as some here, but it's worth noting that he wasn't acting like a bitch towards the Cubs franchise prior to September of 2004. That may be, but whether he is or he isn't doesn't change his work that he did in the booth for the team. If he rips the team now, that doesn't change his performance in the booth all those years for us. It just seems that suddenly now that he has a grudge against the Cubs, he was a bad color man for all those years, and that simply is not the case. i thought he was a great because i basically grew up listening to him. harry and stone were as much a part of the cubs to me as any player, if not more so. once he left, i realized i didn't miss him, and len and bob were just fine. and now when i hear him do sox games, i'm not particularly impressed with him. on top of all that, add to the fact that he's a whiney douche, and i'm completely happy he's not with the cubs.
  10. except for the phillies and dodgers i don't see how it's so brutal.
  11. how often do teams that hate each other fight on the field during bp? they're smart enough to keep it in the clubhouse if they hate each other.
  12. those pitchers were probably among the better hitters on their high school teams. and they have a lot more athletic ability than any of us.
  13. Dunn is no wizard in the outfield, but I can't imagine he costs a team 30-35 runs a year. That seems impossible.
  14. hopefully this turns out like the mulder trade.
  15. hopefully he tests positive for ped's after the game, then contracts aids
  16. I think your post needs MORE RANDOM capitalization
  17. 1st is the worst 2nd is the best
  18. Ryne Sandberg took the stand today to defend Castillo. http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/daytoncourts/entries/2009/07/22/castillo_trial_ryne_sandberg_t.html
  19. that's not nearly as bad as when kenny rogers faked out jordan
  20. Trading a potential All-star center fielder that you have in your possession for the next 5 years, for a 32 year old starting pitcher who you only control for 1 year and 3 months, isn't a good way to build a team. I'd trade him for Wallace, Jones and anyone else they wanted in the minors, if it would be enough. Not sure it is. By time the deadline rolls around, the price tag of prospects may drop a little. Maybe. It could. I still think he's gonna be a Ranger. They have a ton of prospects they could give up for him. Hell a package of Smoak, Feliz, and a throw in should get it done and most teams can't match that. Rangers seem like an excellent fit, and they definitely have the prospects. I'm not sure how their money situation is, though. Does Halladay have a no trade clause? I wonder if he'd want to pitch in that home ball park? He's great enough that it shouldn't matter, but still. halladay should have 10/5 rights.
  21. because the yankees were willing to trade him for the best player in baseball.
