  1. If you could put together this lineup, it stands a chance at being a BCS Conference: Kansas Kansas St. Mizzou Iowa St. Utah BYU Boise State (just moved into MWC) TCU Cincy Houston Memphis Baylor That's a better than decent hoops conference, even if it's subpar in football.
  2. Thanks. I went to subsilver2, and it obviously works now.
  3. And while we're at the assumptions, if the Big 10 decides to become the Big 16, that could realistically spell the end of the Big East. The SEC will possibly raid the ACC, which will in turn raid the depleted Big East. Pitt, Rutgers, Nebraska, ND, and Mizzou to the Big 10 Texas, Tech, Colorado, OU, OSU, and A&M to the Pac 10 Va Tech, FSU, Miami, and Ga Tech to the SEC ACC would have to replace 4 members, and could with Syracuse, West Virginia, Connecticut, and Louisville. That leaves the Big East in Shambles. Leftovers like USF and Cincy could reach out to schools like KU and KState, Iowa State and Baylor, and stronger CUSA schools like Houston and Memphis, etc and try to piece together a makeshift BCS Conference. Each of the 4 Supers could have 2 autobids into BCS Bowls, the smaller conference gets one, and one more at large? All of this is baseless assumption, but I think we're about to see an incredible firestorm set off by this. The NCAA landscape is going to look drastically different in 2012, imo.
  4. Well then...I guess the Big 10's plan has to be getting ND and who else? Why do they need anyone? If it's Nebraska and ND, though, I don't think Rutgers would be a horrible idea. After all, this is all about money, and Rutgers puts you into New York. Pitt or Cincy make more sense geographically, but Rutgers would make the most sense financially.
  5. Time to put Purple Book Cat's rumor to bed: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/longhorns/entries/2010/06/11/official_ut_tec.html
  6. I do not see any way that Texas follows Nebraska to the Big 10, as opposed to going with Oklahoma to the Pac 10. I don't think Texas cares much at all for Nebraska or where they end up, as evidenced by their continual pushing around of Nebraska that has taken place since the Big 12 became a conference. Nebraska wanted equal revenues from TV contracts, Texas did not. Texas won. Nebraska wanted the conference championship game to alternate between Dallas and Kansas City, Texas did not. Texas won. Nebraska's ultimate destination does not influence the Longhorns in the slightest. Oklahoma, on the other hand, matters to Texas. So, which makes the most sense: Texas and Nebraska to the Big 10, or Texas, Tech, Oklahoma, OK St, and Colorado to the Pac 10? I think the answer is pretty obvious.
  7. I do not see an option to quote other messages. Is there a reason why?
  8. Texas A&M look to be headed to the SEC. That means the SEC will be looking for at least one, and most likely 3 more schools. Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, and even Missouri are all schools that are being mentioned by many in and around the SEC. Georgia Tech, Miami, and West Virginia have also been mentioned, but I'm not seeing anyone anywhere putting any stock into any of those 3.
  9. Here is the breakdown by class for the 2010 season, including walk ons (number of scholarship players in parentheses): RS SR: 15 (10) SR: 6 (4) RS JR: 22 (8) JR: 11 (10) RS SO: 15 (7) SO: 6 (6) RS FR: 13 (10) FR: 21 (20) So, in order to arrive at the best case scenario, let's assume no transfers or early departures for the NFL. In 2010, USC has 75 players on scholarship (109 total). 2011- 18 scholarship seniors (33 overall), 13 scholarship juniors (21 overall), 30 scholarship sophomores (34 overall), 15 scholarship freshmen. 75 scholarship players, 103 overall (will be higher due to walkons.) 2012- 13 scholarship seniors (21 overall), 30 scholarship juniors (34 overall), 15 scholarship sophomores and 15 scholarship frosh. 73 scholarship players and 85 overall. 2013- 30 scholarship seniors (34 overall), 15 scholarship juniors, 15 scholarship sophomores, and 15 scholarship frosh. 75 scholarship players and 79 overall. 2014- 15 scholarship seniors, 15 scholarship juniors, 15 scholarship sophomores, 25 scholarship frosh for a total of 70 scholarship athletes.
  10. Bronx DSB receive Janzen's 5th and 10th rounders. Janzen receives Black Labs 8th rounder.
  11. good god, how many times do I have to post this in various places? August 2009: .287/.398/.506/.904 The whole Fukudome sucks past April thing needs to die. He was even better in July. (.307/.392/.534/.926) But, he did get worse by the month in 2008, and was awful in September and October of last year, so which is going to be proven most true of him? I think that someone pointing out that he was awful past April is just as valid as posting that he had a good two month stretch last season. Neither is more or less valid than the other, in my opinion. It depends on what people are trying to say when they post those stats. If they're trying to imply that it's a given that he's going to suck come summer, then it's a huge leap. If you're merely pointing out his 2009 stats and saying that it isn't a given, that's one heck of a lot more valid. Also...you're throwing October 2009 out there as a full month to try and help your case? Really? What case was I trying to make, in your opinion? I'm not saying that he will or will not tank as the season wears on, because (like you) I don't see a definitive pattern. I only threw in October because it was lumped with September in the splits I was looking at. That notwithstanding, he's been atrocious the past two Septembers. There is no debating that much. The reason why is what is unclear.

  13. Ozzie Guillen's Accent has Janzen's Black-n-Milds 1st rounder next year (from the Greinke trade.) I don't see anywhere that this was recorded, but Kyle mentioned it to me on chat.
  14. As I look back at this thread, it is amazing the difference in tone displayed here versus his language and attitude toward a few of us in the league. It's almost bipolar.
  15. Clint... while I like the idea about exemptions, it would bring up a tricky situation for some relievers, I would think. What are your thoughts on that? Also, are you suggesting that a player only burns an exemption when they reach the 50/130 threshold in 3 separate seasons?
  16. Cubbiebummin' receive Czar Nikita's 9th rounder in 2011. SoCal Cubs receive from Andre's Army: a 1st rounder (if outside of the Top 12 pick) OR a 3rd and 8th rounder (if 1st pick is in the Top 12.)
  17. Let's hear it. I also agree with a bump in keeper points, but if we're bumping up to 15 keepers, I think we need to go to 2500 points at the very least.
  18. And effectively keeps Tennessee out of the conversation.
  19. 16 team, head to head keeper league (going to dynasty league next season) whose owner had a difference of opinion and is no longer in the league. Several NSBB posters (roady, moochpuppy, The Logan, etc...) are in the league. Entry fee has been paid for the team, so you play 2010 for free.
  20. 2011 Pitching Violations:
  21. Thanks for the input, guys. Pretty much sums up the thoughts of Owner B, and I cannot blame him for not being interested.
  22. Team A gives up: Tim Lincecum (693 points in 2009, 700 projected in 2010) Russell Martin (327 points in 2009, 363 projected in 2010) Timothy Alderson (#58 rated prospect, according to Scouting Book) Team B gives up: Joe Mauer (554 points in 2009, 563 projected in 2010) Chad Billingsley (458 points in 2009, 539 projected in 2010) Stephen Strasburg (#2 rated prospect, according to Baseball America) Is this trade: a) fair, b) slightly better for one team, c) significantly better for one team, or d) bad?
  23. Awesome play, but let's be honest... Konerko had no reason to use his bare hand. Just catch with with the glove.
  24. I may have a team for you to take over. Owner is just not working out. Keeper league that you might have shown interest in once before. Let me know if you want more info.
  25. Wait... how is this funny? Or is lack of class just confused with humor?
