  1. I knew he did the spinning fingers by the head thing multiple times because Tim Priest was worried he'd get flagged for it. Only heard about one throat slash, though. Yeah, he did the "Going Loco" thing a few times, and they also had another kind of saltue that I saw him, Gerald Jones, and Denarius Moore all do as well.
  2. Bray did the throat slash more than once? Hadn't heard that. I'd be fine with a throat slash getting a 15 yard penalty, but that salute shouldn't have gotten anything. I saw it once. There were certainly other gestures, but only one throat slash I saw. Beauty of it all is that it was a Big 10 crew for both the Pinstripe and Music City. The two games were an abomination of officiating. Wonder if those refs were Leaders or Legends?
  3. 12 were in on the play, including the holder and kicker.
  4. Dooley pointed this out after the game, but I hadn't seen it. Also, 12 players participated in the play (while 5 more made a dash for the sideline)... should have been a 15 yarder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJm2g2OpWhg
  5. Yes, the Big 10 crew blew this one. If you watch the replay of the spike, not only did UNC sub in one OL for the snap, but the HOLDER AND KICKER ARE BOTH IN PLACE. Per the rules, the defensive team is allowed to also substitute players under that condition (while the referee stands over the ball, clock running.) If I knew how to post video, I'd post it. Granted, this was a glorofied scrimmage, but it was an utter clusterhump there at the end.
  6. Big 10 officials... Should have made that a 48 yarder.
  7. The latest I have heard (from someon who swears he has a source in the AD) is that Wilcox is definitely gone, though he didn't say whether or not it was definitely to Texas. Rumors of a contentious coaches meeting today, in which a certain defensive coach had to be restrained from beating his tail. The educated guess is that if this story is true at all, the coach was Chuck Smith. I don't know if this is true, but it would fit with what I heard from someone else earlier this morning.
  8. Well that sucks, if true. I'd really rather not see significant staff turnover like losing the DC again this season. That said, I think Chuck Smith is a good asset as well. Yeah, I'd like some continuity as well. And maybe shnsajax could shed some light on it, but one of the mods at Orangebloods.com has been quoted as saying that he' heard that Wilcox wants out of Tennessee, and has been sort of covertly scouring the job market. Don't know why he'd know that when others don't, and I don't have an orangebloods account to confirm, but there is definitely smoke out there. He does not fit the description that Texas has allegedly posted (12 years NCAA experience and 7 years in the NFL) but he's still involved in rumors there.
  9. Tennessee Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox has reportedly been offered the same position at Texas. According to some backchannel rumors, Wilcox does not like Tennessee DL coach Chuck Smith and wants him fired and has told Head Coach Derek Dooley that he will not return if Smith does.
  10. I'd call it karma if I believed in karma.
  11. Bad teams? The Padres finished 2 games behind the Giants in the NL West. And they've had an offseason that *could* end up productive enough to keep them in contention for a Wild Card in 2011. So, if you can get a guy like Lee on a one year deal, why not?
  12. And no putting lipstick on that pig... Tennessee got beat by a terrible team tonight. If they don't get this garbage figured out, they're an NIT team. I don't think that's gonna happen, but losses like this are embarrassing.
  13. Maybe they should put him back on "suspension". Oh, wait. He's only suspended for like two days total time. Tennessee's gonna play 8 games in 2 days? That's gonna be brutal.
  14. technically, he's gotten better, but wasn't he supposed to be a one-and-doner? He's gotten much better, but he's not been close to as good as advertised up to this point. He's so soft, and does not take over games like he could. Too passive, imo. Sorta glad Oakland won tonight, because it will get the team's attention. Let down game or not, they played lazy tonight- like the name on the jersey should intimidate the other team- and got their tails handed to them. Good win for Oakland. That's a good team, and I think they're gonna challenge for the Dance again this year.
  15. Bill Stewart is stepping down at WV. I will not make a prediction on who takes over.
  16. How many coached can we say that about? A dozen or more?
  17. I have been saying this for weeks. Dan Mullen will be the guy at Florida if this happens, and I think Miami has killed themselves by not moving quickly enough. Mullen to Florida, RichRod to Miam, Malzahn to Mississippi State. Book it. http://twitter.com/#!/GatorUpdates Good call Nostradamus Yep. Ohfer. Oh well... good thing I don't get much of my IRL identity wrapped up in things said on the internet, I guess.
  18. Malzahn has taken the Vandy job, according to http://voices.washingtonpost.com/terrapins-insider/2010/12/gus_malzahn_accepts_vanderbilt.html
  19. So, Texas may lose a boatload of coaches (including Applewhite now) and replace their OC and DC with Jim McElwain and Randy Shannon, respectively. In turn, Alabama could be replacing both their coordinators if Smart goes to UF and McElwain lands in Austin. I've heard that Tuberville is no longer in play at Miami (of his own volition), but if he still is, that will cause some other changes around the south (Eddie Gran at FSU, for example.) Same with Mullen, if he gets the job. And with Malzahn likely leaving Auburn (for Vandy? Miss. St.? Texas Tech?), that's going to open up another coordinator job in the SEC. RIchRod throwing his name into the mix just makes this a very intriguing offseason.
  20. I don't think Thompson would make a lateral move at all, just not sure that Smart will either. I will say that this hire is going to set off a greater domino effect than maybe any other could have. The Miami hire will be interesting to watch, and the Michigan situation could also set off a huge domino effect, but this one is going to affect several coordinator positions at several schools, imo.
  21. Speculation on Longhorn boards are that Smart and Holgorson are going to Florida now. Which could have been the staff at Texas had Mack retired. Oh and some tweets that Randy Shannon is going to Texas as the DC which would be a really good quick move. Still I wish nothing but the best for Muschamp, and hope he succeeds at Florida. And do you really think any DC is going to make a lateral move and have less control of their defense? I just don't see Smart doing that.

Oh and some tweets that Randy Shannon is going to Texas as the DC which would be a really good quick move. Still I wish nothing but the best for Muschamp, and hope he succeeds at Florida. I've heard the DB coach from Texas is going with Muschamp, but have no idea if that is true. Also heard earlier today that Shannon has already signed a contract at Kentucky, but I don't know that I believe that one either, as nothing has come out about it. I hope Smart goes. Anything that hurts Bama is fine by me... unless you mean another Smart.
  23. This could also mean that Tennessee LB coach Lance Thompson is gone. He and Muschamp are very, very good friends, and whoever the DC at Florida is, it will be a title only.
  24. Rumor is he's taking Applewhite as his OC.
  25. Really?!? He's one of the most overrated coaches in all of sports. Solid recruiter, but his defense full of 4 and 5* was a joke this year. As a Tennessee fan, I am very pleased that Florida made this hire. Had they hired Stoops, Petrino, Petersen, Patterson, or even Mullen, I'd have been concerned. Muschamp? Not so much. He'll be fine, but I think they could have done better.
