  1. Have you ever seen Jeffrey Lee's twitter? He's the Rivals guy for Auburn, right? If so, I'm so glad that he's not our guy. He is about as unprofessional a homer as I've seen writing anywhere for any of these services. And, for the record, it does look good for Wright at UT, but I won't believe anything on him until the fax is received. But, several players have tweeted or posted on Facebook that he, Tiny (who allegedly tripped to Auburn last weekend in order to recruit Gabe for UT), and Dawson will all sign with UT tomorrow, as *might* Jernigan, and I've heard Wilder mentioned by several people as the NSD shocker. Again, believe it when I see it.
  2. Alright dew... I assume you've heard about Maggit making it known that he's signing with UT tomorrow? So, we've added Moore, Clear, and Maggit in the last 24 hours. Here's where it gets interesting... Moore tweeted that Tiny, Gabe Wright, and Dawson are all Vols. He said that Jernigan *might* be as well. Literally every source I trust has Gabe Wright as a Vol tomorrow. So, this is either excellent news, or he's one helluva troll. Still don't see TN jumping up past about 8th or so in the recruiting rankings, but literally every single need will have been met in this class. This could go down as an epic class at Tennessee, and goes a LONG way toward getting us back to the top of the east, if not the conference. I'm telling you, 2012 is going to be a very big year at Tennessee. 2013 could be a run at the MNC.
  3. Well I would hope that Tenn could get the top talent in her own damn state. Y'all jump ahead of us on Rivals with his commit I believe. Just looked at some rankings and what the heck...the whole State of Tenn only has two 4 Stars? We have one 5 star and nine 4 stars and y'all have twice as many people in your state than we do... Tennessee has struggled for several years keeping the top players in the state at home. Signing Clear and Richardson will mark a new era in Tennessee football. And yes, high school football in Tennessee is terrible. There are some very good teams, but individual players are not very good. There is a 5* every two to three years, but never really more than 4-6 4 or 5 stars. It's not a state with a large population, and it's not a state with a large African American population. And the parts of the state with the larger populations of African Americans produce a much higher percentage of basketball players than football players.
  4. eh, I disagree with the 60/40 portion of your post, but I'm not going to invest much effort in debating it. Wright has led both UT and AU to believe they are the favorite for many weeks now. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/01/four-star_defensive_tackle_gab.html Marcus Roberson committed to AU today (or was that yesterday..?) He's the #2 cornerback per Rivals and is an important piece. I'm looking forward to Wednesday. Let's just say I have multiple relationships with people in the program (most who are around it on a daily basis, and a couple who actually wear uniforms) and every one of them has told me that Wright told players and coaches straight up two weeks ago "I am coming to UT, and don't believe anything else you read or hear." Do I think he really ends up at UT? Won't be shocked, though I probably believe it's Auburn deep down. But, I believe what I've been told.
  5. John Bryce of VolQuest said Jernigan was "blown away" by his visit and he told Bryce UT was definitely in his top three now. I was happy we got a visit from him, especially this late, but didn't really expect to have a good shot at him. I know you're not a big Hubbs fan, but he seemed to think there was a much better shot at Maggitt on the radio Thursday. He'd been pretty negative on our chances previously, I believe. For the record, I like Hubbs, and I think Volquest is the best site around for news. Now, his technical writing leaves alot to be desired, and the moderation of that site is a total joke, but he deserves credit for running a site that usually does an excellent job of reporting only rock-solid news. So, from what I'm gathering from folks, Gabe Wright is now 50/50 between Aub/UT, and whether Aubies wanna admit it or not, it was probably 60/40 in UT's favor a week ago. But, with Jernigan now being a legit threat to sign with UT, I don't think Wright's decision is make-or-break. On Tiny Richardson, I'm also hearing it's now 50/50 between UT/Auburn. I've heard from someone I trust reasonably well as recently as Thursday that Tiny was a 100% Vol-lock, but I'm not getting that sense anymore. Maggit sounds like he's 50/50 as well (UT/UF), but UF sounds like their class is disintegrating right now. So, I won't be surprised to see UT pull this one off. Have heard that UT will lose 2 current commits on NSD. Not sure if that means they sign elsewhere or if UT turns them away due to other signees or if there will be another circumstance behind it, but this is pretty typical, so not sure how much "news" there is in this disclosure. And this is way out of left field, but there are some who secretly think UT has a shot with Clowney. Apparently, his father has mentioned putting off their signing (which is really annoying, btw) until Feb. 14th because of a certain coach at a school they had'nt been considering previously. There are some who are saying that coach is Chuck Smith. But, I've also heard multiple times that Smith is gone after NSD, either to be replaced by Lance Thompson, who is replaced by Peter Sirmon, or that Rodney Garner's name is popping up again. Rumor is that he's gone from UGA (DC wants his own guy in there), and that Auburn (Searles is reportedly going to Texas) and UT are both possible destinations. Maybe nothing comes from that, but they don't call this the "silly season" for nothing.
  6. So, with NSD only a few days away, anybody hearing anything juicy about your school's prospective signing class? I'm hearing really positive stuff about Timmy Jernigan from his visit to Tennessee this weekend. Basically been told that if he could sign his LOI today, it would be UT, but since he's gonna have to go home and think about it for a few days, it's gonna be a 50/50 battle with Florida State. Curt Maggitt is another name making waves with Tennessee. DeAnthony Arnett tweetered that he had just heard some incredible news, and said "ut fans, its about to go down at ut." I just hope that doesn't mean someone else is about to be arrested.
  7. Cubs Top 10, according to Keith Law: 1. Trey McNutt, RHP (66) 2. Brett Jackson, OF 3. Chris Carpenter, RHP 4. Josh Vitters, 3B 5. Jay Jackson, RHP 6. Hayden Simpson, RHP 7. Robinson Lopez, RHP 8. Brooks Raley, LHP 9. Reggie Golden, OF 10. Matt Szczur, OF
  8. that he had 2 accounts And that he should have never been allowed on the internet to begin with. Well, to be fair, he's from Alabama, and the internet's only been here since 2007. So, he's probably still just learning how to use it. Also, if you really care that much about what a bunch of nameless, faceless schmucks on the internet think about you, you probably shouldn't be allowed on the internet.
  9. In one of my keeper leagues, I have a trade proposed to me that I am torn on. Team 2 is asking me for Player A and a 3rd round pick, and is offering Player B and a 2nd round pick and a higher 3rd round pick. Player A is an All Star, former MVP who is coming off an injury, but who plays in a great hitters park in a great hitters lineup and who is just 27 years old. Because he is out of exemptions, he costs points to keep from year to year. Player B is coming off a decent rookie season, was a good prospect, and plays in a weaker hitters lineup (but one that is young and could be getting better.) He is 2 years younger and will still have 2 exemptions remaining after this season. The overall projected point value from A to B is about 60 points (around 3 points per week.) This deal would give me a guy I'd be able to keep around for at least 2 more years and would give me 6 of the top 38 picks. It would cost me probably the #3 guy at his position. Thoughts?
  10. Also, what did the "detectives" figure out about RedFlash?
  11. yes, the Dawgs have received commitments from almost everyone on their recruiting 'Dream Team'...Lucky for Richt there is a lot of in state talent in this recruiting class.....One more mediocre season, and Richt will be shown the door. I really thought Muschamp would be a Georgia this coming season, not Florida. Richt must have an in with a bigtime donor. Seriously... name a coach who has done less with more moreso than Richt? How he continues to be given chance after chance, and how he continues to make kids think they will win anything of consequence at UGA is baffling.
  12. PM me your name and email address. Go ahead and sign up for a cbs account and I'll get you set up. Also, you will need to paypal the $20 once you are signed up. Thanks.
  13. imb... do you really want in? I've got an owner who struggles to stay as involved as I'd like who would probably give up his team the second I asked him to. Interested?
  14. I hate you and would welcome kicking the absolute crap out of you with regularity.
  15. No, he made his Tennessee visit the weekend before. He cancelled his Clemson visit for this weekend and attended the AU celebration but told the mods for UT's Rivals site that he was at home. From what many UT sites are reporting, the coaches believe Wright is a Vol, and on his official visit he told multiple other recruits and several current players that he is a Vol, regardless of what he might say or put out in the media. Safety recruit Pat Martin is great friends with Wright and has said that he's gonna be a Vol. That said, I know that this kid loves to play the recruiting game, and I still expect him to be a Tiger. I'm glad y'all end up with Abdullah, too. UT fans were all excited about getting him, and after having seen him play in person around 6 times the past 2 years, I did not want to waste a scholarship on him. He's just not that good. Maybe he'll be fine as a DB, but if you're recruiting him as a RB, he is a wasted schollie. As always, jmo.
  16. Good. With that, Chaney stays at TN. Also, there are three HUGE unofficial visitors on UT's campus right now, but all are there under a veil of secrecy. Don't know that it means anything, but maybe it does. Also, I'm hearing great things about Gabe Wright. Interesting, this seemed like a pretty tame weekend given our official visitors being mostly strongly committed. Chaney staying is nice, but I hope there's nothing to the Baggett-to-Dallas rumor. Pretty sure he said "thanks, but no thanks" last week or even the week before. I could be wrong on that, but I think that's true.

  18. Where are you seeing 5? Rivals has them with 2. Are you just combining all services to get that number? Either way, that is a heckuva class.
  19. Keep in mind that Rivals ranks classes only based on the top 20 recruits. So, that means your class is good, regardless of how many KU signs.
  20. After that ridiculous recruiting website he and his family put together, is anyone surprised by this? Signing him was a desperation move.
  21. http://twitter.com/#!/UKCoachCalipari
  22. Anyone else see Cal losing his mind on Jones? He apologized on Twitter for his language. Yeah, I'm sure we all believe that was the first time it's ever happened, and will never happen again.
  23. Kentucky lost to Alabama. That's like Alabama losing to Kentucky in football. Hilarious.
  24. Mandel's explanation: "Scholarships are based on the academic calendar, not the football calendar. Because USC only signed 18 players last year, 14 of whom enrolled last fall, it can count its nine early enrollees in the current class toward the 2010-11 school year. Should the original ruling stand, the 15-player limit goes into effect in 2011-12 and will include all players that enroll this fall (which may include some recruited walk-ons). It still can't go over the NCAA-imposed 75-scholarship limit for its overall roster." So, in theory they can sign up to 24 guys this February (backcounting 9), but would have to not renew 9 current scholarships? Crappy thing to do, which is exactly why I can see Kiffin doing it. (Disclaimer: I realize it's 2011, and not 1951 and that the notion that NCAA football is just a sport played by amateurs at the collegiate level is outdated. And, since it's as big a business as it is, I couldn't fault Lane for cutting the dead weight- particularly among the rising senior class.)
  25. Notice anything funny about pic #23?
