Completely honest, no, I did not realize that. I guess I have a general idea that Formula One fans aren't rednecks, but that's based on nothing except I think of it as European. I was at the 'Tudor' race at Road America this weekend. The place was packed with rich people driving expensive sports cars. The racing field included Porsche, Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Viper, Corvette, BMW, etc. The series that turned into Tudor was the ALMS which joined with GrandAm (owned by NASCAR). Anyway, the ALMS did demographic studies and the fans were more educated and had higher incomes than the general population. I'm just going to go ahead and keep generalizing if it's okay with you. This sounds like a douche convention. Eh, it's like anything. You can go to a Cubs or Bears or Blackhawks game and have a douche convention on a regular basis. If you like watching cutting edge technology and extremely talented, brave (crazy), drivers fly around the track at high speeds it's a lot of fun. The feeling of 50 cars coming down a straight at 160+ mph with horse power in the tens of thousands is a pretty dam spectacular event. Especially when you're ten feet from the track and can walk and view everything from different vantage points. Road America is like a state park, it's in the middle of a forest. It's a far cry from a bunch of mouth breathers sitting in bleacher seats at Talladega praying to jeebus for a big crash.
