  1. Can IUPUI beat Indiana?
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=munson_lester&id=3708545 If he really is innocent... It would be amusing to see him raise all sorts of hell, beat this out, and make the SEC look like clowns.
  3. I'd say Addai is a must start, and SDG will have their hands full with the Colts passing attack. I'd go with Slaton over Grant because Cleveland's run defense is terrible and NOL might force GB to throw a ton in order to keep up in a shootout.
  4. I've got to wonder how much his bed crapping in the playoffs cost him. Soto not holding onto that tip might have cost Dempster 10 million dollars this offseason (not blaming Soto..just stating a possibility). The perception is completely different if that changed. But I think he might have gotten the same offer from the Cubs anyway..he just might have had to leave even more money on the table from another club. Teams evaluating him on one playoff game are pretty dumb. By the same measuere, Sabathia has been absolute garbage in the playoffs.
  5. I like Ryan and think he can perform pretty well for the next four years. I'm not expecting last year's numbers every year, but I'm glad to have him back and the contract isn't terrible.
  6. This is probably just posturing, but those are still pretty bold words.
  7. I'd go with Warner, Jennings, Wayne, and Williams. I've got Colston myself and will be starting Jennings over him too. What about my QB dilemma? Favre, Cassell, Ryan. Pick two!
  8. I'd go Grant because I think the Bears finally sell out towards the pass against GB and Cotchery (in both).
  9. OK guys, I'm in a must win this week. QB (Start 2) Matt Ryan Brett Favre Matt Cassell WR (Start 3) Terrell Owens Marques Colston Greg Jennings Wes Welker Dwayne Bowe RB (Start 2) Joseph Addai Marshawn Lynch Larry Johnson Jonathan Stewart Also, should I drop Jacksonville's defense and grab Arizona for their game against Seattle? And no, I'm not in a 5 team league. And no, I'm not in a playoff spot right now. Most of these guys have sucked lately. Touchdowns are by far the most important stat in my league as receiving and rushing yards are 1pt per 20 and passing yards are 1pt per 50.
  10. I hear that Howry is available, maybe the Brewers can sign him to strengthen their pen...
  11. Kornheiser really needs to do something about that hair.
  12. I hate you is smack an ohio st fan? that would explain a lot. No, I actually went to Purdue. I just enjoy watching teams who recruit at all costs lose. i'm glad you prefer your 3-7 team that doesn't recruit. i'm glad you prefer your 20 players with 86 criminal charges between last season and this one. Don't worry, we'll get you back in basketball. Unless, of course, Hummel and Moore are jailed in the mean time.
  13. I hate you is smack an ohio st fan? that would explain a lot. No, I actually went to Purdue. I just enjoy watching teams who recruit at all costs lose. I'm pretty sure everyone's seen this.
  14. Nittany Thugs lose! Yes! At least we won't have to see the Big Ten get destroyed in another national championship game.
  15. I have to start two QBs. I've got Favre, Ryan, and Cassell. Thoughts?
  16. Agreed. He's 6'9" and shot 408 threes last year. In comparison, he only had 439 rebounds. I'd rather get Zach Randolph. You do realize last yr was a fluke for Harrington in terms of shooting threes? Because the next highest amont of threes he's attempted in his career was 293 (a hundred a fifteen difference). Such a high numbers of three attempted by Harringto was a product of playing for Don Nelson. Randolph has a career numbers of 16.2 ppg and 8 Harrington has a career numers of 13 and 5. On paper Randolph would be a better player, but I prefer Harrington because his contract comes off the books a yr earlier. Not to mention if you add Harrington to the team, *you would have both Hughes and Harrington coming off the books together after 2009-2010 (a yr after Gooden/Gordon after this yr). So if the Bulls (aka Paxson) is smart, in a matter of 2 yrs, the Bulls could have $36 or so million* coming off their books. In two yrs the Bulls would have Harrington/Hughes/Gordon and Gooden (and perhaps more if the Bulls can move Nocioni) off their books (sign decent 1 yr stop gaps) and by the end of the 2009-2010 season they could legitimately have a shot at any FA of that class that could potentially include James/Wade/Nowitzki/Bosh/Amre/Boozer/Okur. (I said potentially) Hopefully by then Derrek Rose is a legit superstar PG, Thomas is a formiable force at PF, and Deng develops into a strong #2 scorer. Which means the Bulls would be a interested destination for FA's in two yrs. So give me the cheaper contractual player in Harrington, who may be the inferior player over Randolph. **All of this is based on their current salary. Excellent points here. I really like the idea of Rose, Thomas, Deng and a star FA in a couple of years.
  17. We've been their hated rivals for most of their NL existence. one of those cases where they hate us more than we hate them. Since they havnt really had a natral rival since coming to the NL, they cose us, even though ours is still the Cards. As far as the fans go, this is absolutely true. They have all the anti-Cubs gear you can imagine up here. Brewer fans detest the Cubs. The big thing I hear nowadays is 'at least we won one game in the playoffs!'... give me a break.
  18. I'm all for the Brewers dropping 25M a year on CC. It would cripple their ability to make any other moves, and I would enjoy watching the Brewer fans when he breaks down after the abuse they loaded on him this year.
  19. You do realize that 110,000 thousand is actually 110 million, don't you? I just cracked up at work.
  20. Seriously. Shootouts happen so infrequently, that theres gotta be no correlation between attendance/ratings and shootouts. Unless the general public can't stand hockey because of the potential for ties. I guess that's possible. I would imagine they put the shootout in because casual fans (i.e. non hockey-watchers) said "I hate the ties!" alot. But I'm not sure. But then how do you figure out if it's actually working? I guess that's why some people have degrees in Marketing, and I don't. Isn't the 'breakaway/penalty shot/1-on-1' widely considered one of the most exciting plays in sports? I would think the NHL instituted the shootout because it adds more of their 'premier' most exciting play. If a 'casual' sports fan is flipping channels he/she will likely stop to watch the shootout because it lasts a couple of minutes and decides the outcome of the game. The NFL and the NBA have both installed rules that allow for more offense. People like to see dunks, touchdowns, homers, and goals.
  21. Then the casual fan is stupid. Yes, that's right I said stupid. Shootouts disrupts the continuity of the game. It's an embarrassment to the game of Hockey, and to it's tradition. And no I know I won't "get over it" because it's stupid. Might as well say...hey baseball, when the 9th inning is over, were going to have homerun derby. If hockey wants to increasing scoring, how about making the rinks international size, which is bigger then the NHL size, or instead of it being 5 on 5, make it 4 on 4 on NHL size ice. No need for shootout, period. I won't get over it, until it's gone. I rather see a tie then some carnival parade that is the shootout. Couldn't have said it better. Like I said... why should a 1 v 1 decide the outcome of a team sport? So do you think walkoff home runs shouldn't count? bad analogy
  22. am i missing something? everyone is giving devlin credit for leading a comeback; he threw one pass that resulted in a pass interference call, ran three QB sneaks (one for a TD), and then turned around and handed the ball off a bunch of times. i guess they want to give credit to someone on the winning team, but probably the guy who should lead the story is mark rubin, who knocked the ball out when pryor was coming around the right side. ohio st had all the momentum after we missed a field goal, they had rushed for one first down and looked like they were headed for another. that totally turned the game around and gave the offense a short field to work with. also, how did everyone miss what happened to clark? he got up slowly (though there was a pig pile, that's probably why they figured he got up slowly) and then one of the offensive lineman was holding up two fingers in front of clark's face. Agree on both points. Clark got his bell rung and Devlin handed off while the ground game won it...
  23. Why should they have too? Shootouts are [expletive] and pointless and don't show TEAM SKILL...? Oh Howry, last time I checked HOCKEY is a TEAM sport. I'm not arguing for or against the shootout. I just find it odd that they're what, 0-3 now? Toews, Kane, Sharp, Havlat... you would think it would be a strength. Yep, they are pathetic in a situation they shouldn't have to be in... it's not fair, but hey... life isn't fair. Well, if it makes you feel better, they're sucking me back into hockey. I didn't end up getting the Center Ice TV package, but the free radio play by play on the NHL's website is nice.

  25. Are they ever going to win a shootout?
