  1. Who is the odd man out in this group? That is - which player would you least like to have? Jonathan Stewart Rashard Mendenhall Jerious Norwood Chester Taylor I've got Stewart, Mendenhall, and Norwood on my bench. I'm debating on whether to drop one of them for Taylor. I have no idea why APs owner hasn't picked him up (he was cut after our draft).
  2. Ah, ESPN shows 4.65M this year. edit: Wait, where did you get your numbers? I googled it and everything I see says he's on a 1-year 4.65M deal. edit again: you're probably thinking Bill Hall
  3. Wait, Hardy was #8 in OPS for all SS (with 500 PA) two years ago and #4 in OPS for all SS (with 500 PA) last year. I believe he was injured the year before that. If the Brewers trade him now - that would be very Cub like. Trading him at his least valuable point. Granted, he's never been an OBP guy but there aren't a whole lot of SS out there who can hit you 20-25 HRs. He was progressing, he's just turning 28 in a couple weeks, and he's incredibly streaky if I recall (he OPSd .888 in May). I don't think there's any reason he can't be back around an .800 OPS with 25 HRs again next year. I don't have any of his 'advanced' defensive ratings, but I watch a fair number of Brewer games and he doesn't seem to be a defensive liabilty. Oh, and he's not very expensive. I hope they move him for a garbage 5th starter and watch him return to form next year. He's no super star, but he'll have a better carere than Alcides Escobar...
  4. Well, I just got dumped by my girlfriend of a year and a half. At least something good happened today! I'll be watching a lot more baseball now!
  5. Speedy Claxton... coolest name ever?
  6. tied in the loss column with Milwaukee and St. Louis...

If they do end up with two series (this may just be brinksmanship negotiations) then I think Indy would definitely get a slot with one or the other series. The American F1 team has already committed to the current F1 series and not the breakaway group. One of the key sticking points causing the break is a cap on budgets. The new American team would definitely be more competitive with a capped series as there is no way they can match the budgets of Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes (McLaren), Toyota, etc.

I change the thread title to Motorsports.... Shocking news in Forumla 1 today. A breakaway series has been announced as the 'FOTA' (Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, BMW, Toyota, Brawn, Red Bull) teams are unwilling to race under the new 2010 rules proscribed by the FIA. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76292 I've heard that Monaco (the Superbowl, Indy 500 of F1) will not host an F1 event without Ferrari. This is crazy news.
  9. As someone with no experience with an iPhone (I'm planning on getting one in October when my contract expires), what is the battery life like? I keep hearing about more and more things you can do with one, but can you actually watch a whole three hour game on your phone? I mean I guess if you're in your car you can plug the phone in, just curious what the battery life is like.
  10. I know this is off-topic but it's Chicago sports radio related and I didn't want to start a new thread. I was just at lunch and Waddle & Silvy cut into a Bruce Levine segment to discuss news about Brandon Marshall. They cut back over to Levine who didn't know he was on the air in time to hear Levine bitching about not getting his intro music and the fact that he was only going to get a 3-minute segment. He was then a jerk to Silvy who just hung up on him. All on the air, it was hilarious.

Yeah, great day for the Pugs and Ferrari, Corvette really had no competition. I can't believe the numerous driver errors by Audi, early in the race no less. I think Peugeot is done with the 908 HDI FAP car at the end of this competition season. I believe they'll come to the states along with Audi to race at Petit Le Mans in September. That's a cool event I've been to a couple times. It's really cool that Brabham won he's a classy guy from a storied racing family. The Logan, yeah Le Mans is special because it draws all types of drivers who come for the event. Lots of F1/former F1 guys, guys that have race in open wheel stuff in the states, rally racers, etc. I think there were around 25 countries represented by the drivers. I ended up stuck at a wedding and only got to watch some of the live coverage. I've got about 10 hours of DVR'd stuff I've yet to watch.

Yes, I'll be sad to see them go and the factory efforts in GT1. I saw the GT1 Corvette for the last time in person at Sebring this year. They'll be back though, in GT2 after Le Mans in the states. Should be some great racing with Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Corvette, and Panoz.

I think I've asked before, but any sports car fans around here? Tomorrow's race is going to be epic. Peugeot versus Audi will be the main event, but we'll see Porsche versus Ferrari and Aston Martin versus, Zytek, Courage, and others. http://www.yourautostuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/audi-r15-tdi-sebring-pitts.png http://www.dieselstation.com/pics/Aston-Martin-LMP1-car-pics.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3402/3344089103_bec99ea9d2.jpg?v=0 http://www.dieselstation.com/pics/peugeot-908-HDi-FAP-silverstone-pictures.jpg

    Rich Hill?

Hill got smoked today. I ended up going with Carl Pavano. Let's see if this one bites me!

    Rich Hill?

I think I'm going to wait to see Blackburn, Pavano, and Hill pitch one more time this weekend and then make a decision.

    Rich Hill?

    Wang is terrible again today.
  17. Well... except they didn't draft and develop all those guys...
  18. With Marshall getting the boot from the rotation shortly I'm going to drop him and add another SP. I'm in a deeeeep pitching league. The best options I see at this time are: Rich Hill Carl Pavano Nick Blackburn Chien-Ming Wang Randy Wells (am I saying this?) edit: Or should I hang on to Marshall and wait for Harden to break himself again or Wells blows up?
  19. Really? I'm not much for silicon beach balls attached to a woman's chest...
  20. Trade Wieters. Someone in your league surely expects him to hit like Manny did for the Dodgers last season. Shop him and get max value. Heck, I might trade Wieters for a stud player and a league average C just to maximize on the hype. Unless it's a keeper league, I'd be shopping him pretty hard. 10 teams? Surely someone will overpay greatly. I'm in the exact same boat, I've got McCann and Wieters. My league is pretty dead tradewise though. I don't think there have been any completed trades. I've made multiple trade offers throughout the year and all have been declined with no counter offer. Teams that are already four games out (it's h2h) aren't dealing! It's a keeper league. Is Wieters the kind of guy you keep around at the end of the year? I mean, a catcher? Considering they don't go in the early rounds. I'll likely have to wait for Wieters to produce for a few weeks before even shopping him. There are guys starting garbage catchers too. Playing him at Util may be an option but I've got Prince Fielder/Carlos Pena at 1B/Utility so he would have to displace McCann at Catcher or Pena/Fielder at Util for me to even use him at this point.
  21. Wouldn't it be less pressure to bring him up on the road? Also, I think he's clear of the super 2 status.
  22. I've seen reports saying any day now, and most say early June. I'm tempted to pick him up again (I originally drafted him) so I can trade him or McCann in a month. There are guys with awful catching options in my league and I can't figure out why he hasn't been picked up.
  23. My league is sort of an oddity. It's a h2h points league (10 team) and we go deep for pitching with a bigger emphasis on starting pitchers. Most guys have 0-3 hitters on their bench and most have 4-6 pitchers on the bench. Two start pitchers seemingly are the key to victory (guys only start premier closers), but there is a transaction cap (30) to prevent the constant grabbing of just two start pitchers. I currently have zero position players on the bench. My hitting lineup is: C: Brian McCann 1B: Prince Fielder 2B: Chase Utley 3B: A-Rod SS: JJ Hardy OF: Carlos Quentin OF: Jermaine Dye OF: Adam Dunn UTIL: Carlos Pena I've got the following pitching staff. Starting (this week): Johan Santana Yovani Gallardo Jonathan Papelbon Aaron Harang Sean Marshall Jair Jurjens Chris Volstad Bench: Dave Bush Tim Wakefield Manny Parra Chien-Ming Wang (Just off DL) Hiroki Kuroda (Injured) Kelvim Escobar (Injured) John Smoltz (Injured) So to grab either Ortiz or Lohse I would probably drop Parra. The following starting pitchers are the best available: Kyle Lohse Andy Sonnanstine Kyle Davies Dallas Braden Doug Davis John Lannan Livan Hernandez Kenshin Kawakami Lohse and Sonnanstine are the only pitchers owned in 50% or more of ESPN leagues. Of course I've got guys (who I think are underrated) that are owned in only a smaller percentage of leagues too (Bush, Marshall, Parra). Pretty much your mixed bag of guys that either get no run support for wins or have good starts and terrible starts. I've also stocked up on injured players hoping to stay competitive until the bargain injured players got healthy later in the season. I'm alone in first at this point. I'd like to win because it's $500 for first!
