  1. Purdue landed their fourth 2013 verbal today. 6' 9" F Derek Willis from Kentucky. Scott, Smotherman, Stephens, Willis. For what it's worth, ESPN has all of them ranked in the top 50 nationally right now. Should be a great class! I've also been hearing great things about 2012 Jay Simpson recently. I guess he's in a lot better shape and appears more focused.
  2. Jeff Foster and Kevin Garnett can have a douchebag of the year mean mugging competition.
  3. Samardizja is [expletive] terrible.
  4. about time. it's not over yet.
  5. Who would you rather have pitching in this situation? I realize he's just eating an inning in a game we're not going to win. Why not bring up someone else and give them a chance? His career statistics are terrible. He looks terrible now. He's always looked terrible. He shouldn't be on the roster. That would require Hendry to admit he made a multimillion dollar mistake. Not gonna happen. Well, they got rid of Silva, Bradley, etc. That's what I don't get. If they'll flush Silva's contract, why not Shark? Hell, at least Silva was a productive member of the team for a short while.
  6. Anyone else read Play Their Hearts Out by George Dohrmann? Terrific book about the cesspool that is AAU basketball.

  8. Why is Shark still getting chances?
  9. I hope Castro doesn't miss tomorrow. I'm going and I'm already not looking forward to the Coleman vs. Gallardo matchup.
  10. haha, I didn't realize how much Narveson owns the Cubs. He's throwing meatballs (88mph fastballs and 80mph changeups right down the middle).
  11. Lighty, Buford, Diebler, Craft, Lauderdale, Thomas > Moore, Byrd, LewJack, Barlow, Smith, Terone Johnson, Carroll Really? You're going to argue that Purdue's roster outside JJ was superior to OSU outside Sullinger? I mean, I wish it was, but it wasn't. It wasn't even close. In order to beat OSU at home E'Twaun had to have the best game of his career.
  12. You know that Sullinger will be back and they can't steal it from him again only to give it to another less talented Purdue kid, right? I'd take Sullinger over Johnson or Hummel so fast it'd make your head spin. My Hummel comment was not serious. It was a jab at the Hummel haters. If he does win it this year it will be glorious to celebrate it on this board. Sullinger is more talented but that doesn't mean he had a better season last year.
  13. You know that Sullinger will be back and they can't steal it from him again only to give it to another less talented Purdue kid, right? haha, steal it... like JJ didn't deserve recognition... you might want to check his trophy case since pretty much the rest of America disagrees with you...
  14. Is it too early to start the Robbie Hummel BTPOY campaign? :-"
  15. He won't. Drug use, two fights with teammates, and failed classes. No way. Enjoy Europe. I thought those things were common in the NBA?
  16. Where will Richmond go in the draft?
  17. Scholarship offers to Gary Harris and Ronnie Johnson (Hammons too?). Lots of people seem to think that if Harris wants to come to Purdue - room will be made. Plus there is the Barlow situation. He's one mistake away from being gone - and if he does act up again, that WOULD be fine with me. He's been given a lot of chances and if he's a distraction again he needs to go.
  18. Lawson has an achilles tendon injury he's recovering from. He's supposed to be ready, but I see them red shirting him anyway partly to get extra time to heal and partly because of the return of Hummel (Lawson committed before we knew Hummel would be playing in 2011-2012, obviously). The 5 is going to be a lot of Carroll with Marcius backing him up. Bade could get some time there if Carroll gets into foul trouble. That's how I see it anyway. GBI just posted an article yesterday saying Lawson is progressing way ahead of schedule. Not sure why I said knee before, yeah it's an achilles injury. Obviously Painter will want to have a look see in person. I think Hale will be a good shot blocker too. We really need a big in either 12 (if someone leaves) or 13 too. I'm really wondering if Bade will walk. He can still take a year off and play two years at a smaller school where he'll actually play. I think Lawson and Hale will surpass him by the end of this coming year (if not much sooner) and he'll be the 4th 4 or 3rd 5 in the rotation. He might just be content getting a Purdue education and being along for the ride though. I will be pissed if Painter starts Creaning players. Bade is not very good at basketball but he seems to be a good kid and Painter offered him the scholarship.
  19. Purdue will have the most length they've had in a long while. Losing 6' 10" JJ, but adding back 6' 8" Hummel, 6' 8" Donnie Hale, 6' 7" Jacob Lawson. 6' 5" Byrd won't have to play the 4 anymore. Guard play should be fine next year, I think Terone Johnson picks up his game, and Lewis Jackson will be a captain - Senior PG. Anthony Johnson has added muscle and will be an added scorer. Biggest issue is going to be the 5. We've got Carroll/Marcius and a grab bag of PF's that may have to play minutes at the 5. I think I'm really going to like Lawson who is ripped (JJ's weight, maybe a little more, and 3 inches shorter) and extremely athletic - if he's recovered from his knee injury (sound familiar?). I would have no problem with a lineup having two 4's on the floor and letting Lawson play a shot blocking / rebouding role along with Hummel. Lawson's offensive game is extremely raw though. I'm expecting nothing other than put backs and dunks on that end. I also think a key will be Purdue's leadership. LewJack, Ryne Smith, and Hummel are all vocal leaders.
  20. Man, I have no idea how to do that. Next year's Big Ten may be a clustermakinglove. Ohio St. probably still the favorite (losing a lot of leadership - reloading with freshmen 4/5 star talent) Wildcards that could win it - Illinois (I think even the water boy is a 4 star), Michigan (lots of young talent, came on strong, made the tourney), Michigan St (Izzo and lots of talent). Teams that will be competitive but it will take a lot of pieces coming together - Purdue (losing two of programs best players ever - adding length) , Wisconsin (I think losing Leuer hurts a lot, Taylor could be BTPOY... lots of big white dudes and won't lose at home) . No real shot but will be improved, Indiana (help is on the way), Iowa (really like Basabe), Northwestern (lots of foreign dudes) Terrible - Minny (Mbakwe will wear a house arrest ankle bracelet), Penn St. Nebraska... yeah, I know nothing about them.
