  1. http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AuvIFcEcM1z1No9e1n6XUrNkM3wV/SIG=12km6fn7b/**http%3A//sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news%3Fslug=cubswhitesoxtrade%26prov=st%26type=lgns the link didn't work The Chicago Cubs continued their busy offseason Thursday, acquiring lefthander Neal Cotts from the Chicago White Sox for righthanders David Aardsma and Carlos Vazquez.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs sign sheffield to play leftfield next year for us...He fits the Cubs need of a power bat.....(who is out of his prime) (old) basically lightning in a bottle
  3. That would explain the lack of power....He's the type who may only bat .250 but have a lot of homers. I haven't checked for awhile but he had only one home run.......
  4. I have not seen his name in the box scores lately....Is he hurt? Hopefully not...What is his status....?
  5. I don't mind the idea of the trade, but I'm not sure where Tejada would play...He cannot be a shortstop anymore....If the trade Aram maybe he could play thirdbase......He's done as a shortstop....(just like Nomar)
  6. I don't know if we have 5 guys in the minors that will become major league regulars....How did BA rank our farm system?...Our position players have to be at the very bottom... Tell me if one of our non-pitching prospects has a shot to be an all-star caliber player(with the cubs).... And then we reach for Colvin, I shouldn't be surprised when our GM puts together a 100 million dollar payroll to outdo the Pirates and the Royals...
  7. I was going to suggest Aubrey Huff but he is hurt also.........oh well
  8. I think Scott Moore should be going to the local SportMart and picking up a firstbasemans glove...Maybe an outfielders glove also...he might be my choice to play firstbase in another month
  9. I don't think it will happen...I doubt either team would deal with the other...I just see Garland as a middle of the road pitcher who is young and because the Sox have the starters and want to lower the payroll I could see him traded....As far as the Cubs go, our pitchers are always hurt so I think we should look outside the organization for major league talent........either we don't draft well or don't develop talent well, or both
  10. Crystal ball time, trade deadline Cubs send Williamson to the Sox for Jon Garland
  11. I remember Stone commenting that Frankies delivery was not very sound...I wonder if Novoa will have the same problems
  12. I would rather have a disgruntled Soriano than Nefi playing everyday...
  13. we've come down to Jeff Conine for RF..........Just bring up Pie now...We are already forming our team for 2007
  14. They should have offered him a 1yr contract for 3mil....
  15. Yep, he doesn't seem to have a whole lot of value around the league. He's alright @ getting on base and has some power, but provides little speed and fielding. His age, durability and attitude may be a problem too. enough said.....granted I would rather have somelse besides Todd or Jerry
  16. I question Walkers value period.....The Cubs signed him to a small deal to begin with, then they couldn't trade him at the deadline last year..It seems like no one wants him for 2006(not even the Cubs)...It seems to me that the only people that value him belong to this message board. I would like to see the Cubs go with Ronny and Jerry at SS and 2nd... Speed and D.....
  17. He's waiting for the 2007 season to make is big moves....The famous "Good Ship Wait till next Year" has already set sail for 2007 without even docking for 2006......
  18. its great to have the ectra 15 mil and not be able to spend it.....They should have given furcal the extra $$$....This is just sad
  19. Just put Patterson in right....give him another chance....
  20. This is my point...........Kearns-Huff-maybe even Mench are not real upgrades from last years team....Either put Corey there or sign J.Jones...Why give up talent for no real upgrades The Cubs can't resign Burnitz until May 1st. So, we play Mabry in rightfield until then? I just don't see that as a likly nor justifiable option.
  21. He'll be waiting...... The Cubs can't resign Burnitz until May 1st.
  22. YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD...HUFF, YOUNG, KEARNS ARE NO BETTER THAN BURNITZ.....WHY TRADE FOR ANY OF THESE GUYS. EITHER RESIGN BURNITZ PLAY COREY THERE OR SIGN J.JONES.... JONES IS NO BETTER BUT AT LEAST YOU ARE NOT GIVING UP YOUNGSTERS.
  23. Did Vidro play in the second half of last year...Did he play at all after the injury?
  24. I consider Huff/Kearns/J.Jones/(at least) /Wilkersonb to be no better than Burnitz...Why would we make a trade for these types of players when J.Jones or Wilson can be had without giving people up....and I still think CPatt might turn it around....Although it probably won't be in a cubs uni i would hardly compare three players with career OPS's of around .820 to corey patterson, nor would i call them "marginal talent". marginal talent is jacque jones.
