  1. The cubs will win 91 games, beating out the cardinals by 5 games! This team is truly a coin flip, they could be very good or very bad. However, I do feel some major bounce backs from Soto and Soriano, with that being said I will stick to my guns @ 91 wins. Cubs pitching has plenty of depth, as long as Lilly does not miss more than 1 month we are fine.
  2. I do not think Hendry has done bad job this offseason, yes the Silva trade is hard to swallow, but these 2 moves today and Signing Byrd for an extremely fair contract has been pretty solid. The Fox trade will depend on how Jeff Gray turns out. Grabow was resigned too quickly. Adding Maddux and Jaramillo gives this off season a pretty positive outlook in my mind.
  3. That is a good park for him to pitch him and try to earn a larger contract / multiyear, anyone else thinking that is the motivation to play for a losing team here?
  4. Just great, now Hill is going to take HGH, play center field and hit 30 home runs next season..... I am not worried, Duncan cannot fix Rich Hill's panzie mental issues.
  5. Now that Nady is signed our outfield looks like this: Soriano, Byrd, Fukudome - Nady, Fuld, Hoffpauir (probably not making it) With Belliar signing for only 865k, why not use Fontenot and mid level prospect(s) to acquire the reliever and attempt to shoot Hudson a 1 or 2 yr offer at what is showing to be market value. I have heard speculation on Gregorson or Frasier. I also like the idea of Chad Tracy on a minor league contract. I dont know about you guys but I would be stoked going into the season looking at a line up like this: vs right. RF Fukudome 2B Hudson 1B Lee 3B Ramirez CF Byrd LF Soriano C Soto SS Theriot vs. Left SS Theriot 2B Hudson 1B Lee 3B Ramirez CF Byrd LF Soriano RF Nady C Soto Bench: Nady/Fukudome, Tracy, Blanco, Hill, Fuld Rotation: Zambrano Dempster Wells Lilly/ Marshall to start season Gorz/Silva BP: Marmol Guzman Gray -acquired reliever Gorz/Silva Grabow One or 2 more small moves and this team could shape up fairly well.
  6. I agree with the money statement, but am confident that they did not overspend seeing how the Cubs have very little room left with their budget.
  7. As long as the injuries are in the past this is a very good move, adding an established hitter incase of injuries and to fill in as DH will be solid. Not to mention as he is no wizard in the outfield, he will be a hell of a lot better than Gomes or Dye. Now Jim if you NEED to sign a veteran reliever please get Calero on a 1 yr deal!
  8. I was hoping you would say it was Pujols.....
  9. I agree with this, the prophecies state that the Cubs will win the world series in 2012 and the world will end shortly after.
  10. I see the meetings are in indianapolis this year, anyone know what hotel and if anything at all is fan accessible? I live just an hour away and work close to their all the time. Thanks for any info given.
  11. Guess we can give up any hope that Bradley will be back. If this is really true than Piniella did not have any control over this team, everything we heard prior to this season was Bradley had never been anything but a great teamate. Chalk this one up to the Chicago Media and Lou Piniella. Bradley is many things but I do not believe he "ruined" the atmosphere to the point of losing the division. Maybe Theriot's lack luster base running and bad defense had as much to do with this team as Bradley.
  12. Not a way and hell that we could get Ross and Uggle giving up almost nothing. You would have to slide in Cashner/Carpenter, and another one of the Cubs upper level prospects..
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4516486 One thing is for sure, we know he did not throw anything at her..........
  14. Accessory to murder, Hendry was the main person who killed this season.
  15. Release Miles, Keep Bradley unless the deal is worth it, fire Hendry, offer Harden Arb, release Gregg.... Does it really take that long to make this team better? What is this 1 in the morning BS
  16. Fox better forget 2B this offseason and work on batting Left handed... That is his only chance to crack the lineup over projected dynamic duo of Bobby Scales and Aaron Miles.
  17. Expand the deal to get Upton. Bradley, prospect(s) for Burrel and Upton? Definitely more speculation, we wont hear the real stuff for 2 months or so.
  18. 2 things I would like to point out, over a full season Ramirez's number equate to about 28 HR's, 126 RBI's with a .919 OPS. If his shoulder was 100% this year does Aramis look like a guy who is taking the next step? I understand he is already a strong RBI guy but it looks to me that he and Lee next year are ready to put up their biggest year as a 3-4 combo. My other point is with all the reasons why this team is out of the race, does anyone think that a healthy Ramirez all season changes this? I understand you can pull up how many wins a player is worth but that does not break down the day to day of having Ramirez in all these 1 run games the Cubs lost. The guy is a stud whos approach seems to be getting better every year. I think with him on the team in June this would be a different season.
  19. I am trying hard to not get excited about Colvin..... Really hard!
  20. Which is stupid because even in his career year he wasn't a big RBI guy. You can't really make a player into something they're not. Exactly my point, if the Cubs attacked Bradley as a #2 hitter there would be a difference, but to me if people are comparing DeRosa and Bradley they need to take into context what the Cubs were trying to achieve by signing Bradley, which was a LH middle of the order run producer. NonProfitCow - Thanks for you input, I am stating an opinion based on Hendry's failure to find a better hitter for the middle of the order, which Bradley has not been a better middle of the order hitter this year than DeRosa regardless of OPS.
  21. I have a hard time buying into this at all, first of all the off season has not begun meaning nobody has a clue which options are picked up and who will be available. Second of all it is Paul Sullivan, and third of all IF Hendry gets to keep his job, he is going to make a better move than Mike Cameron. Not to say Cameron would be a terrible move IF the Cubs can upgrade significantly in one of the middle infield positions. If I hear this same rumbling after the world series then I will read into it more.
  22. not at the table Carlos.
  23. Carlos will take his shirt off and show you the shape he is in, remember that when you make remarks about his physique.
  24. See this is where OPS. does not win the argument. You look at what Bradley was signed for and yes it is a run producer, where he was placed in the lineup may defeat this argument but I would have taken DeRosa's bat in the 5th or 6th spot of the lineup over Bradley's simply because Bradley has not hit with people on, not even to the tune of a good sac fly hitter. He sucks with people in scoring position, the only reason Bradley is close to DeRosa is run created is because his resurgent second half in getting on base in front of DLEE. Bradley hit .205 with runners in scoring position. Buster is correct by saying the Cubs should not have went for Bradley and traded DeRosa and their should not be an argument with that statement. I was a huge Bradley fan and argued with people all season about how he will turn things around, but at this point I am sick of hearing people defending the guy, he is flat out a moron who does not deserve to be blessed by playing this game for 10 million a year. I hope the Cubs can get something for him but I am at the point where I will not miss him, or hopefully wont miss Hendry if he gets canned.
  25. Wow.... without looking was'nt he in their top 10 or close to it?
