  1. Chargers and Cardinals had young good defenses in place. I guess that still matters more than we thought? If you trust football outsiders system, the 2012 bears was the best defense in the NFL. He doesnt get any excuse for the defense. Its clear that the team decided to use its resources to improve the offense, and that Trestman has zero value as head coach. Unless this team surprises us all and wins 9+ games this year than its clear that he was a bad hire. There is no purpose defending him.
  2. Our only chance is Lacy fumbles.
  3. Bryce Petty is really really good. I can't wait to see Baylor play Oklahoma.
  4. Bielma blew this one. He sat on the ball and tried a 44 yarder. Coulda iced the game with more aggressive calls. Then when he should have been conservative after the quick equalizing td he almost blew the game by calling 2 passing plays and gave the Aggies the ball back with 90 seconds. Arkansas was close to pulling off a huge road upset and the. Needed to ice the game and instead he settled for a relatively long fg.
  5. I'm expecting a fun game here with aTm ark. Hopefully also Washington Stanford. Oklahomas destructing of Tennessee looks extra impressive seeing Tennessee play Georgia to the wire.
  6. So Barry Alvarez discussed his process for the playoff committee. Apparently the two national polls are not relevant to him or the committee chairman and he is not looking at margin of victory. Him and a stats person on staff at UW are working together to determine his opinion on the playoff teams.
  7. Ha yea. Brutal. After the first quarter I was basically counting my winnings.
  8. Texas tech is following that rule.
  9. UCLA has been very underwhelming. I'm surprised they are 4 pt favorites tonight. Taking Scum Devil money line for the upset in Tempe tonight. Place will be absolutely rocking. Been to a game there and it's a solid home field.
  10. Let's leave the first two years off as it's not fair to judge a class based on freshman and sophomore wins. Last year they played UNC and NCST on the road (both wins) and Va Tech at home (10-15 loss). Total score differential +33. This year they played in Columbia (23-33 loss) in Blacksburg and home vs UNC +27 total differential. That's 4-2 and +60 against power 5 over the last two years. They have been impressive on paper but it's the eye test that makes me question the recruiting rankings. Watching their games they are loaded with talent. The recruiting rankings rely too heavily on whose recruiting the players. If Tennessee and Georgia offer a player he's a 3 star, if ECU and coastal carolina offer him he's a 1 star. There's a big bias there. The big schools screw up on players all the time.
  11. ECU beat UNC handedly, but it was at home (did win 55-31 in 2013 at Chapel Hill, though). ECU is a good example of why the recruiting rankings are [expletive] below the 4 and 5 star level. I've watched 3 ECU games this year and they are absolutely loaded with talent on offense. There reviewing core is as athletic almost any team in the nation. I doubt ECU has turned in a top 50 class over the past 5 years. Then you watch a team that's always in the top like michigan or Florida doesn't seem to have a single playmaker on the field.
  12. Whitlock? Hes always available to to contribute a quick pound cake column when the front page needs it.
  13. It's him or Rick Reilly. Tom Rinaldi annoys me a lot but he's not on their level.
  14. He's pretty horrible on NBA countdown and actually think they gave him a show for this upcoming NBA season. I feel like ESPN and all their shows and all their usual suspects have been extremely critical of goodell. Like olberman for example has been slaughtering goodell on ESPNs airwaves for like two months over this. This isn't simmons speaking truth to power or taking a righteous but unpopular stance. Any negative statement about goodell is a wildly popular one. Simmons is a tool. Anybody who thinks simmons is doing something courageous is an idiot. This is the guy they gave an entire outlet to and he used it to do a haha piece where te punchline was outing an unstable transgender person who killed themself as a result. They should have fired him as editor of grantland then. He's probably the biggest tool in the sports media and the less I have to see of him the better. I applaud this action by ESPN.
  15. Please suspend him for the entire NBA season.
  16. I can agree with the fact Clemson absolutely should have beaten FSU without the reigning heisman award winner in a game that FSU looked atrocious in. However Georgia dismantled Clemson in every way you can dismantle a team led by Todd Gurley and Chubb who combined to run for like 400 yards vs Clemson. Getting ground into submission by a rushing attack is not beating yourself it's the other team beating you.
  17. Woah. SC beat Georgia and ECU and had a bad game but still won handily at vandy. They ave up two special team touchdowns. But seriously ECU and Georgia give SC the best win resume in collage football, by far. ECU pounded Va Tech and UNC in consecutive road weeks after sC beat them at home. SC is a very good team. A&M SC and Oregon are the only three teams in FBS with legit wins over an elite team.
  18. How does FSU consolidate first place votes after the turd they laid last night? Especially considering Oklahoma and Bama both looked solid.
  19. Potentially will be ranked when they come out in a few hours.
  20. SC mizzou in Columbia is gameday this week. Too bad mizzou lost to Indiana would have made for a more exciting game. But yea the SEC west is wide wife open.
  21. Well part of the fun or me is making guesses at such things. Of course BYU could lose 3 games. Nobody saw a mizzou auburn sec title game at this point last year. I understand this, trans but this is part of the fun.
  22. I think that the polls will have a huge impact on the playoff committee. If BYU is an undefeated top 10 team in both polls, I think they are a shoe in. Its unfortunate, but i think it will be hard for the committee to not use 1 spot in the playoff for what is potentially the only unbeaten team. And carnage is inevitable when half the team in the running for the playoffs are in the same division. ND is really in great shape. They have 3-4 tough games on the schedule and they will be able to get in with one loss. Personally I think they beat stanford at home. By the time they go to Tallahasse they will be #2-#4 in the country vs #1 FSU. They could lose that game and not get too punished in the rankings, or win that gamne and be a virtual lock for the playoffs.
  23. When it comes out later today Id like the top 10 to be: Alabama Oklahoma A&M FSU Oregon Ole Miss Baylor ND South Carolina Its very important that the voters start holding BYU down in the polls. If they are in the #15-#18 area this early they are a virtual lock for the playoff. They really grinded one against UVA at home. BYU is a nice team but its a shame that in the first year of the playoff a spot will be wasted on a team that absolutely does not belong. There are about 15-20 teams in the country that would go undefeated with their schedule. The SEC west is going to really own the polls. Ark should be in the top 20 after two straight impressive victories over decent teams. They have bama georgia and A&M consecutively and I think they could be dangerous enough to win one of those games. As for coaches I think should be fired immediately, fire Golden Muschamp and Hoke right now. Whats the point in keeping these guys around. Muschamp has absolutely proven he is incapable of fielding an offense and his defense got absolutely torched yesterday. In his first three years he had more loses than Urban Meyer did in his six years, more than Zook in his three years, and he has already lost as many league games as Steve Spurrier did in the HBCs 12 years. When almost every other team in the SEC has improved, Florida has taken significant steps backward. Just fire him now. Al Golden was brought in to restore Miami, and he has not done that, and I cant believe anybody thinks he will. If miami is okay being a program where they get beaten by every decent team they play, then fine keep him around because he hasnt gotten caught doing anything terrible. And Hoke should have never been hired. He had fair records at his previous jobs (low level FBS jobs) and should have never been hired into one of the premier coaching positions in all of football.
  24. Yea I agree. Not sure whose gonna beat ten ok their terrible shedule. Maybe notre dame.
  25. That's an all time choke right there.
