  1. Nicely done. Now for God's sake, get above .500 tomorrow.
  2. Brewers now 0-4. Yikes. They're playing some good teams though, unlike the Cubs.
  3. I think Reed Johnson is done. At least Perez could offer blazing speed and elite defense.
  4. LOL at throwing a fastball right down the middle to Chris Young.
  5. Yeah, because there aren't any Cards, White Sox or Brewers fans on the boards... Most of the fans on here of those 3 teams seem to be fairly respectful when their team is playing the Cubs. Not saying Jake is meaning to be disrespectful, but it's not unusual for fans to get annoyed when a fan of the opposing team cheers through posting at crucial moments of the game. I'm not talking about just posting in the thread, I'm talking about the cheering after the Walker grand-slam on Opening Day, or the McCutchen homer later that game. I guess I consider it disrespectful, maybe you guys don't. But what I do know is that if it was a Cardinals fan it would have generated a reaction from the Cubs fans here. But obviously Jake has been around here pretty long and has earned respect, which is great. I really haven't been here long enough to know that. If ElCaballo or wolf started cheering for their teams doing well against the Cubs, I don't honestly know what would happen. I don't think they'd get banned immediately because they've earned that benefit of doubt, they might get a PM from a mod though. Whose to say Jake hasn't received any messages from mods? Yeah that's true. I certainly don't think he or anyone else should be banned for it. But I always just thought it was sort of an unwritten rule that you don't openly cheer against a team on that team's message board. Maybe not.

  7. Obviously there is no such thing as a must win in baseball before September, but 2-2 sounds a lot better than 1-3.
  8. Is the fact that Jake is a fan of the most pathetic sports franchise over the past 20 years the reason we allow him to come here and openly root for his team in our game threads? I'm positive we wouldn't allow Cards, White Sox, or Brewers fans to do the same.
  9. Blah. DeWitt hits a game-winning double and remains benched the next day for Darwin Barney? C'mon Quade.
  10. Pretty solid. All of those guys are capable of OPSing over .800 in a full season with perhaps the exception of Baker.
  11. Couldn't they have waited until he was done using the trough? Jesus.
  12. Yeah and most of these fans seem to like every other Chicago team too, just not the Bears. What, Ditka sh@t on someone's meatloaf? I don't get it. I have a unique set of teams myself (Cubs, Bears, Magic, Lightning), but it's not as if I have an aberration for one sport where I choose to root for the #1 rival to the city of teams I root for otherwise. I don't have a genuine problem with it, it's just odd.
  13. The two teams themselves aren't so much rivals as are the fans rooting for them. Considering the majority of Cubs fans are Bears fans and the majority of Brewers fans are Packers fans, I think there could be some left over animosity from football season. Although obviously 07 and 08 are the biggest reasons these two teams are now considered rivals.
  14. The new Gameday looks awesome. How much longer until the batter actually starts moving?
  15. Oh yeah I forgot about DeWitt hitting LHP better. That's....annoying.
  16. The fact that DeWitt struggled in ST seems to be the primary reason he's not starting, which I don't know if I agree with. It should more or less be a strict DeWitt/Baker platoon with Barney only coming in late for more range. He's done nothing to earn regular major league ABs. But yeah, DeWitt is really in the doghouse it appears.
  17. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: This would be frustrating anyway, but considering Baker has hit Correia pretty well there is no excuse for this. Oh well, Quade has done far more good things than bad to this point. I am pretty happy with the rest of the lineup, however. There's a decent chance Barney will get as many plate appearances against Correia tomorrow as Baker has in his career to this point. Then I expect him to go 2-5 with a homer.
