  1. There is a difference between debating a significant argument and nitpicking small nonchalant comments. Truth is I can't say one [expletive] word around here without someone putting their two cents in.
  2. "I wasn't motivated to play an NFL game against the defending champion and our arch rivals and a team that we will compete against for the division championship until Bill Simmons said we suck." I said more locker room fodder as in more motivation, never implying that there wasn't motivation to begin with. Which means what exactly? Whatever you want it to mean. Stop looking for an argument.

  4. Yay more locker room fodder.
  5. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/7005460/chicago-bears-roy-williams-practices-fully-face-green-bay-packers Roy Williams expected to play. Harris meanwhile is "optimistic". No word yet on any of the other questionables.
  6. And out of these, everyone practiced fully today except for Wright who was limited. As long as Williams and Harris play I'll feel pretty good.
  7. NFL contracts are not guaranteed. Then why aren't all great players just signed to 8-10 year contracts?
  8. While I agree that he needs to be paid, one thing you don't do is sign a RB to a 7-8 year contract. I don't care who he is. Huh? This isn't baseball. You sign him for as longterm as you can, to spread out the cap hit. It's not the length that is all that scary, it's the guarantee. Did you forget that 29-30 (sometimes earlier) is pretty much washed up for a RB? Let alone 32-33 (7-8 years from now). Chris Johnson got a 4-year extension, which is what Forte needs as well. Sure the contracts aren't as extreme as they are in MLB, but why pay him any money at all when the chances are some stud out of college will out-produce him by the time he reaches his 30s (See: Tomlinson).

  10. they won't be able to. this line gets confused blocking a 4-man front. Why are some fans so obsessed with the blitz? I would actually welcome some over aggressive blitzing this week. Cutler can exploit that on occassion. The Bears lack the line to block straight up and look deep. Agreed, I don't believe Cutler has thrown a deep ball yet this year, which is sad considering the speed of our WRs.
  11. Am I the only one that thinks KFC's OR is horribly overrated? Perhaps.
  12. The game will be close throughout, but I do think the Packers will win (shocking, I know.) The Bears will play us tough. If the Bears and Packers had a Week 17 matchup and the former was 15-0 while the latter was 0-15 and the former was playing their starters the entire game, who do you think would win?
  13. I read yesterday that while it's not as serious as originally thought, he will still miss 4-6 weeks. Trade for a tackle?
  14. That's "everything" you could have done? I'm not necessarily defending Angelo, but who exactly was in FA that would have resulted in a significant upgrade? We tried getting Colon from Pittsburgh but it didn't work out. We drafted a starting RT and signed Spencer who from what I've seen is solid. You can't just get 5 new guys to play OL in one offseason.
  15. Williams almost played last week, so I don't see why he wouldn't go this week barring a setback. No idea about the severity of Bennett's injury.
  16. ESPN Chicago: Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler unsure he can survive season getting hit at this rate What a stupid article. They took two "I don't know" responses from Cutler and fabricated the rest. Typical ESPN.
  17. Yay double-digit homers for Castro. Let's go for 20 next year.
  18. Oh great, the hideous orange alternate jersey make its return this week. :-& Why not just stay with the 1940s throwbacks?
  19. So I think I included all the major ones. Probably forgot a couple.
  20. I do not agree with the "we need to run more, passing gets us in trouble" concept. Running more doesn't win them more games. It was a close game for a while, but it got out of control in a hurry. And the offense couldn't do anything. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8170 Lovie disagrees with you. If I recall you and me argued about this last year. Can you honestly say that play selection has no effect on the outcome of the game? When you have a RB as good as Forte and pass protection as bad as the Bears, why should they keep drawing up a pass-heavy gameplan?
  21. 26 rushing attempts against the Falcons, 11 yesterday against the Saints. I understand that we ran more against Atlanta because we had a lead, but there is still no excuse for 11 total rushing attempts considering the game was close through three quarters. I know the dump-off was useful, but yesterday we saw the pass-happy offense that got Martz into trouble at the beginning of last year. This line seems to block for the run better than the pass, thus the run needs to be utilized more.
  22. There needs to be more trolling in this thread.
  23. If you weren't such a prime source of entertainment around here (laughing at you, not with you), I'd put you on my foe list. Whatever floats your boat, man. We'll just see who's laughing at who at the end. Kind of like last year, right? It's not really about football.

  25. An injury to our thinnest position on the team is a concern though. I'm hoping it was just a typo by UM, Roach hasn't been on the injury report all week.
