  1. Are you guys serious? When you have less than three seconds to throw the ball and a QB who can't accurately throw that ball longer than five yards, Forte becomes the most viable receiving option. How many times have we seen Cutler sail balls this year? Give me a break. Of course the one time I try to blame Cutler nobody else is game for it.
  2. Forte has accounted for 1/3 of Cutler's yards so far, which falls more on the shoulders of the line and Cutler than it does the receivers. Thus, there is no way you can convince me that any of the other options would have 200+ yards by now, so we might as well agree to disagree like you said.
  3. So one of the other WRs would magically have 200+ yards by now with the Bears? Cutler has sucked since Atlanta (the one game where Williams looked decent) and the problems with the line are well-documented. You imply that Bradford and Jackson have sucked this year as if Cutler hasn't.
  4. None of the other free agent WR options are currently playing well either. Look it up. Roy Williams - 5 catches for 70 yards, 0 TDs (in 3 games) Sidney Rice was injured the first 2 games and since coming back has caught 11 passes for 188 yards and a TD. Santonio Holmes 13 for 164 and a TD Braylon Edwards has played 1.5 games this year and has 4 for 48 Malcolm Floyd has 9 catches for 158 yards as SD's number 2 WR. Plaxico Burress has 10 catches for 160 yards and 2 TDs as the Jets number 2 WR James Jones has 9 catches for 88 yards and a TD as the Packers number 4 WR Mike Sims-Walker has 11 catches for 139 yards Cant remember if there was anyone else we mentioned back then. No, none of them are dominating, as they all have less receiving yards than Knox (although Rice would if he was healthy for 4 games) but they all have better numbers than Williams (besides Edwards) despite some of them being the team's #2+ WR (Floyd, Burress, Jones) or having an extremely ineffective QB (Rice, Sims-Walker, Edwards). You conveniently fail to mention that Williams missed the end of the first game, all of the second game, probably wasn't 100% against GB, and was victimized yesterday by a run-heavy gameplan. You can also argue that he has suffered from ineffective QB play as well. Besides, my argument wasn't that he has outperformed the other options, but that the other options aren't setting the world on fire either, and they aren't.

  6. Practiced Wednesday but sat out Thursday and Friday, so he probably had a setback. It is a bit worrisome considering Newton leads all QBs in passing plays over 20 yards. If we get vintage Steve Smith today it could be a long afternoon.
  7. Chris Harris out, Wright and Meriweather will be the starting safeties today. Marion Barber will make his Bears debut. Corey Wootton will make his season debut.
  8. When he starts becoming the reason we actually lose football games.
  9. On second thought, 2-14 and drafting Andrew Luck doesn't sound all that bad to me.
  10. Agreed, although barring an injury to Cutler or Forte I don't think we'll ever be that bad...but 5-11, 6-10 could be a reality sooner than we'd all like.
  11. If I was a more superstitious person I would swear that the football gods are dooming the Bears never to be a good passing football team. Seriously, what the hell do we have to do? Besides surround Cutler with sufficient talent and coaching. On a more serious note, however, Cutler hasn't been nearly as bad as that article pretends he's been. He finished off 2009 strong after a horrendous start, had a good year last year, and has so far played alright this year. If people thought he would come here and become elite despite the lack of offensive talent around him then they were simply setting expectations too high. It's true that QBs like Brady and Brees seem to win regardless of their supporting cast, but Cutler isn't Brady or Brees, and he doesn't have to be for it to have been the right move to trade for him. He is still the best Bears QB since Luckman, and there is still plenty of time for him to take it to the next level, but he needs help doing that and right now he's not getting it.
  12. So it's still early for playoff talk, but after breaking down the rest of the season, I think there is plenty of hope left for this year's Bears assuming they can take care of business against the mediocre to bad teams: vs Carolina- W @ Detroit- L vs Minnesota- W @ Tampa Bay (London)- W @ Philadelphia- L vs Detroit- W vs San Diego- W @ Oakland- L vs KC- W @ Denver- W vs Seattle- W @ Green Bay- L @ Minnesota- W Final Result: 10-6 with a good shot at a WC. Okay so really, after the game in Philly the rest of the schedule looks pretty soft for the most part with the exception of the GB game. The wins given over TB and San Diego could easily be losses, but the losses I gave against Detroit on MNF and Oakland could easily be wins. The key for the Bears will likely be in the last five games, assuming the season doesn't go up in flames before then. Four of the last five teams range from pretty bad to really bad. First things first, take care of business tomorrow. If we don't, we're in deep [expletive].
  13. Full practice participation on Wednesday followed by none Thursday and today. Reaggravated injury? We can beat Carolina without him but it would be nice to have him back for Detroit.
  14. Will be hard to do if he doesn't even get double digit rush attempts. I would normally agree with you, as I have been very critical of Martz needing to call more run plays. Yesterday, however, was an exception. The run was not there all day and thus I don't blame them for abandoning it. Hopefully they give the run another chance against Carolina, as it's almost gauranteed they'll have more success than vs. GB.
  15. Forte crapped on Carolina last year and I expect the same to happen this year. Bears 27 Panthers 14
  16. if you aren't full after eating a combo meal then you might want to start managing your portions better. If you eat Chick-Fil-A you should know what I'm talking about. $8 for 12 VERY small nuggets and fries. How is that supposed to fill a person up? $7 for a chicken sandwich and fries, with the same result. FWIW, I weigh 180 lbs so it's not like my body demands huge portions. i've eaten chik-fil-a enough to know that i'm full if i eat a combo meal from there...and my point still stands...you're probably overeating most of the time(most people do), which makes chik-fil-a's normal sized portions seem small to you...there are 790 calories in a 12 piece chik-fil-a combo with medium fries, that should fill you up. btw, the best fried chicken i've ever had is from a place called lamar's in chattanooga, tn. I don't have this problem at ANY other restaurant. It's certainly possible the Chick-Fil-A where I live just isn't as generous with portion size. Did you really look up the calorie count of a meal just to prove your point?
  17. As someone else said, the worst thing about it is that the refs just robbed us of a chance to do something brilliant in the future. It's a fantastic play. But you get to do that once in a while, at best. Probably only get 1 time to really unveil it. And they robbed us of it. I fail to see the difference between the play standing and being overruled when it comes to the future of running said plays.

  19. And like others have said, the call would have pissed me off a lot more if the chances of recovering an onside kick and then turning it into points with no timeouts left were better than they are. I understand wanting the chance though.
  20. Yeah, how dare we lose consecutive games to the last two teams to win a Super Bowl. FOR SHAME. loll Have you been watching the last two games? Our team offensively is garbage with no end in sight. 2007ish bad. So far our offense has not looked any worse this year than last year. Need to go on a bit of a run here but we can do it. Saw some good things today. The O-Line was much better, and no injuries in this game that I'm aware of. As for the phantom holding call, I also think the flag was thrown while the ball was still in the air. Hopefully Larry Mayer will have an answer for us as I'm sure this question will be asked in this week's Chalk Talk.

  22. Well yeah chicken from any mom & pop restaurant down south is going to destroy any of these options. Being from the midwest though, we don't really have those places here. Chick-Fil-A is easily #1 for me on taste alone. Portions, however, are a different story. It costs me $8 for a combo where I don't even get close to full. That yellow Chick-Fil-A sauce is out of this world though.
  23. Yes sir. I had to make a choice between acquiring McCluster or Helu and I chose Helu. I don't see anyway McCluster will hold up getting regular carries with his size. Plus Helu is just better.
  24. Let me just point out that it's no coincidence that so far those arguing against it being locker room fodder are Packers fans.
  25. There is a difference between debating a significant argument and nitpicking small nonchalant comments. Truth is I can't say one [expletive] word around here without someone putting their two cents in. Um, weren't you the one tossing out outrageous hypothetical questions to me a few pages back, trying to draw me into a fight? Seems like you've gotten your two cents worth in on several occasions as well. It was an honest question.
