  1. Welp. Looks like some of the meatheads who were mad about this thread are eating crow. Sveum isn't gone but he's certainly not safe.
  2. So is Dale the guy moving forward?
  3. I sure hope the young guys in the minors can develop quickly because this roster is about as bad as it's ever been in my lifetime. I understand this is by design to build for the future, but it's pretty discouraging when guys like Castro and Rizzo look like horsechit.
  4. Well it looks like the offense decided to relax today.
  5. LaTroy Hawkins blew a save to the Mets. That was a soul crushing defeat. They lost 6 of 8 after that.
  6. I think Murton was the throw in guy in the Nomar deal.
  7. It was reported as being worked on all day and officially announced an hour after the deadline. Who reported that it was being worked on with the Cubs? It came out of nowhere. Nomar wasn't even informed until 3:45pm that he was traded.
  8. Sounds like the Cubs weren't going to give up him for nothing.
  9. I could have swore the Nomar deal wasn't announced until after the deadline. It may have been done, but I remember The Score breaking the news and I thought it was past the deadline and came out of nowhere.
  10. In exchange for outfielder Jody Gerut. :clapping:
  11. Ugh, I don't know how I feel about Neil Ramirez as the centerpiece. Wait, yes I do; not at all good. Smokescreen. Has to be.
  12. Do your work Theo and company. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AvvWZzeuB3Q/T6nDjBa8xJI/AAAAAAAAADQ/kL5P_ksHlxo/s1600/canonicals-mark-shuttleworth-300x192.jpg
  13. Damn that's a lot of money but with him being a Jr in college they probably thought he wouldn't sign. That's a big payday.
  14. I had read the other day the Cubs wanted to bring up a positional player by Tuesday. Bogusevic has been playing really well in Iowa and maybe the Cubs have seen enough of Coleman when you look at his MLB track record. Maybe Bogusevic will inherit some "Ryan Sweeney" magic and rake. :P
  15. Can't say I'm sad to see either go. Marmol hasn't been good for awhile and Stewart was never good as a Cub. Thanks God they trimmed some fat today.
  16. Yeah, Rivero's debut was Concepcion-like. Just ugly. What was his stuff like? Ironicly, I was at the game where Concepcion just looked awful last year against QC. I think that was his Low-A debut. Rivero looked really uncomfortable out there. His fastball was getting hammered and he didn't have great control of his other pitches. It literally looked like batting practice compared to how well Heesch kept the River Bandits in check. On a side note, Carlos Correa is really good for QC. I can't see him staying in low-A much longer. There rumor is Appel will start down here so perhaps a roster shuffle will happen soon.
  17. Rock Shoulders blasted a homer that looked like it when into the Mississippi River at first. It nearly left the park and the only player to hit one into the river at Modern Woodman Park (Then John O'Donnell) in Davenport was Barry Bond's brother. Very impressive HR for Rock and he had a double that he crushed at well. I was really impressed with Almora. His presence at the plate is very good and he's got a nice swing. Heesch was pitching a great game (had a no hitter through 4) and then Armando Rivero just imploded along with the rest of the bullpen.
  18. Does anyone know who's set to pitch for Kane County on Saturday against QC? I have tickets for it and wasn't sure if the rotation would stay the same with the All-Star breaking coming up.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYQ53jxl3x8 Heiseberg is correct. Dale has no clue how to manage a bullpen.
  20. I'm done with Dale. He cannot manage a bullpen. He isn't the right man for the job. I don't care how bad this team is. Marmol isn't a closer anymore and Dale acted like he was.

    Castro

All Castro needs is a few games that include base hits and he will get his confidence back. He's still young and has been really good in the past.
  22. The Cubs just need to realize that the Stewart signing and re-signing was a mistake and release him.
  23. It's fairly uncertain whether he can stick there. He might be our LF of the future. Then please trade Soriano. :beg:
