  1. Valbuena has been a nice story this season so far. I hope he can keep things up because I have no idea if Vitters will ever be the guy they drafted him to be.
  2. The bad luck continues for Stewart. 8-)
  3. I wonder how much longer Scott Hairston gets as a member of this team? On a different note, Kevin Gregg has been fantastic so far.
  4. This offense is overall worse than last season. The only thing they have going for them at this point over the 2012 Cubs is power.
  5. The manager will go before the GM or owner. That's why I am asking this question. It's not like the Cubs have had much to cheer about the last few seasons and it's a fair question. I don't dislike any of the management or front office, but you have to wonder what Theo and Company are thinking. If they Cubs continue to be a bad baseball team, they'll do something. The question is just when. The bottom line is that Sveum has a record of 66-114 as the Cubs manager. I'm not saying he should be fired now, just wondering what another bad record would do to his future.
  6. What are the chances he's the manager next year? We all know last season was a wash, but he's made some odd decisions this year, and his comments about sending guys to the minors was idiotic. I know this team is dog crap bad, and even LaRussa wouldn't get them to win, but at what point does the front office look at the W's and L's and go a different direction? Considering they realized how bad Quade was and cut the ties quickly do you think they'll do the same with Sveum if the Cubs lose 100 game this season? Will Theo make a statement and do something? (I don't think Theo is in trouble, but he can't afford 3 bad years in a row)
  7. Under what owner/GM were the following contracts given out? Soriano Garza Marmol That's a lot of money right there for guys who might be traded this season. I don't like how things are going, and I think this is a 100 loss team, but Ricketts and Theo aren't to blame at the moment. They may or may not end up righting the ship, but this organization slowly got worse under the Tribune and Hendry era.
  8. It's too early to tell on Ricketts, but I can thing of a few things worse. Brock for Broglio. The Soriano Contract. Dusty Baker. Alex Gonzalaz booting a double play ball in the Bartman Game. Jim Hendry's drafting. Joe Carter in the TV booth.
  9. Jim Hendry really ruined this organization more than people thought. His lack of success in the draft and the Soriano contract has really tied the hands of the club. I think/hope/pray Theo can right the ship.
  10. Since we are dumpster diving for third basemen, where is Kevin Orie and Gary Scott? :hello:
  11. I don't think anybody is truly pleading for him to come back. I know, but given the bullpen situation Lee Smith could warm up in a pre-game and lead to internet chatter.
  12. I'd rather Wood stay retired. I'd hate to see him come back and just get shelled. He was reaching the end of his career and he retired at the right time. He went out in a good way.
  13. :stickman: Well I suppose he can't be any worse than Littlefinger was.
  14. Do you honestly think thank Valuena is the full-time answer at 3rd? That's the problem. The Cubs don't have anyone who can step in and be that guy or even a decent platoon there. Stewart was signed to be that and he was awful last season, and will be again this season. Vitters isn't the answer either so I don't understand what the Cubs think they are going to do with that position. It's a glaring hole. Nobody knows if Barney will hit either and Littlebridge has shown he's can't even hold Aaron Mile's jockstrap. 2B certainly might be an issue as well. Castro will be fine but Rizzo semi worries me. Right now the infield just isn't hitting as a whole.
  15. ok Come on, man; HANDS DOWN. You can't argue with that. Just like you can't argue that Ian Stewart only had bad luck this year. Uh, why do you keep focusing on Ian Stewart? I brought him up twice because... He's obviously being expected to come back and play 3rd, and he sucks as well as the other options. He won't be any better than what is out there now. The second reason is because you defended him nearly all last season.
  16. ok Come on, man; HANDS DOWN. You can't argue with that. Just like you can't argue that Ian Stewart only had bad luck this year.
  17. So.....100 losses? At least. Ian Stewart isn't going to save the Cubs and who knows if Garza will stay healthy. Too many questions marks on this team.
  18. This team is hands down worse than last season. It doesn't matter if it's early or not, the bench and offense sucks ass.
  19. This team just might be worse than last year. Yeah it's early, but this bullpen is a utter mess, the bench is poor, and the Cubs can't score runs. :clapping:
  20. This team just might be worse than last year. Yeah it's early, but this bullpen is a utter mess, the bench is poor, and the Cubs can't score runs.
  21. I bet they DFA him once Barney returns. Lake broke his rib during spring training so I don't think he will be ready until later this month or next.
