  1. Thank God the Hendry era is over.
  2. The Cubs are a year away from serious playoff contention/run. I wouldn't trade anything right now. Price isn't going to help the Cubs win the division this year. Next season is the year I think. Sure they could get in this year but I think the young guys need a full season in the majors to really shine so there is no need to trade a bunch of prospects for a rental guy. Unless the Cubs can fleece the Tigers which I doubt will happen.
  3. I was going to throw my laptop if that was a ball.
  4. Is this a fart noise via mouth or armpit?
  5. This is fantastic.
  6. Greg Maddux II

  8. 2 years left on that contract. :|
  9. And why? Mine is pretty obvious. I remembered Dawson as an Expo and was excited when the Cubs signed him. That 1987 season made follow him until he retired. Just think of the player he might have been had his knees held up throughout his career.
  10. Meh. This team could win 10 in a row and we'd all know they still suck. The roster just isn't very good and that's not hard to tell. Until the young guys come up and/or Ricketts decides to open up the wallet some the Cubs will continue to suck. Castro and Rizzo are the only offensive players worth a damn and the pitching staff is leaky outside Shark, Wood, and Hammel.
  11. Why is Veras and Barney even on this team anymore? Neither bring anything to the table.
  12. Suck it Brewers. http://37.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmotekKe1E1qfqcmfo1_400.gif http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/images/uploads/article/072212-cubs-click-630.gif

  14. Outside of a big contract I don't know why Samardzija would stick around and wallow in this dumpster fire going on in Chicago. The Cubs are most likely 2 years away from doing anything in the NL Central and that's banking on the young talent. I like him but wouldn't not blame him for asking for a trade soon. He's getting terrible run support where he's currently at and he's not getting any younger.
  15. I think we all knew the 2014 Cubs weren't going to be all that good this season, but I do think most of us thought there would be some improvement win-wise. It's still early but the 2013 Cubs had 12 wins at this point last season and 13 by the end of May 7th. Right now the Cubs have 11 wins. :( Some sort of win streak could obviously change things but I just don't see this team ending up much better than last season in terms of wins, and they possibly could be worse. There just isn't much talent on this team but we are getting deeper into the Ricketts and Theo/Jed era now and the trend isn't very good. Everything is banking on the young talent and they are probably a year or two away from getting meaningful playing time. In short, things have been and continue to be very hard to watch.
  16. Like him or not, Sammy was a great Cub and provided the fans many memorable moments. He deserved to be out there yesterday just as much as any other Cub celebrating Wrigley's 100th birthday representing his era as a Cub. Sure he may have took illegal substances but baseball let that happen to make the game exciting. I wasn't happy with Sosa at the end of his career in Chicago but the good memories of Slammin Sammy far outweigh the bad. Sosa was a great Cub any beef the organization or any former player has with him needs to be let go.
  17. Cake Farts > 2014 Cubs
  18. Samardzija can't wait to get off this garbage team and I don't blame him.

  20. We all would, but it's clear that he was not signing with the Cubs. It sure would be nice, though, to have him and Samardzija at the top of the rotation. I agree. He used meeting with the Cubs as leverage for the Tigers. I never really liked the Jackson signing to begin but I don't think he'll be put in the bullpen anytime soon. He's still got 2 years left on his deal after this season so they'd aren't getting rid of him either. It's still early so here is to hoping he turns things around. Last year he pitched better then his record indicated but right now he's not pitching very well at all. Velocity is down and his pitch location isn't consistent.
