  1. I'll die with you on this hill.
  2. I've really liked what I've seen so far, the stuff seems about as good as last year and I really like that he just seems to trust his stuff when he has to and isn't walking guys. Hopefully some of the other bullpen guys (Carl looking at you) take note. Yeah, Wade Davis was great for us last year. And I never really worried about him. But, when he didn't have it, things got a little iffy with the walks. It's nice to have a no-drama guy for the 9th.
  3. We haven't seen much of Morrow, and I don't think he's been quite at his best (despite not giving up any runs). But he's got some filthy stuff.
  4. He's struck out in 14.1% of his PA. His Contact% is up. His O-Swing% is way down. Those things stabilize much quicker than stuff like BABIP. He has been taking better ABs and the results will come. Yeah. In terms of things to look for, for him growing and developing as a hitter he's doing a lot of things to like early on Agreed. He's not like Javy, where he can just say, "horsefeathers it, I'm going to hit 40 homers." He needs to improve his plate discipline to improve as a hitter. And it looks like he's taking steps to do that.
  5. The results have been awful, the approach and the working of counts has been quite good. He has as many walks as Ks and is walking and K’ing at rates in the teens. i mean you are really trying to convince yourself there's something there... He's struck out in 14.1% of his PA. His Contact% is up. His O-Swing% is way down. Those things stabilize much quicker than stuff like BABIP. He has been taking better ABs and the results will come.
  6. Perhaps fewer mental days off of defense.
  7. If it has to be this way, I'll take the good players being good again and the bad players being bad.
  8. More days off. Schwarber Fan will guide us.
  9. This is paying dividends. On ball 4 to Rizzo (which was over his head): "Over the plate, but I guess high."
  10. I'm not thrilled about Jon transforming into the 90-mph-tossing vet who has to work for every inch of his 3.70 ERA, but I've come to accept it.
  11. Cubs BABIP on the season is now .303. It's almost like these things even out over time.
  12. Javy is 2 for 2 on hitting the ball 110 mph today.
  13. I know Chatwood has walked like half of the batters he's faced, but Alex Cobb has given up 20 hits in 7 innings and has a 15.43 ERA in his first two starts.
  14. One less batter for a bathroom break with Rizzo back, bringing the total down to 6.
  15. Stuck with the Cardinals feed today. Please make it painful for them and not me.
  16. Javy at 2 seems kinda dumb. Just stick him 4 or 5 and let him mash. There's too much else a 2 hitter should be doing. But Javy hitting bombs behind Bryzzo or Bryzzotreras would be perfect.
  17. Just putting it out there: We're winning this.
