  1. Luckily we have about 10 years to build up our farm before their window closes.
  2. Did Javy just make an out? Wasn't sure if that was possible.
  3. Nothing??? He’s throwing mostly slider/cutter it appears. He’s mixing in his 2-steamer at 92-94 and throwing a few 4-seamers at 95-96 At bat showed a 2 seamer at 90 mph Possibly a changeup that got misclassified? Or he just took something off. He's averaging 94 on it.
  4. Heyward has been horrible out there. What the horsefeathers?
  5. When Tommy found out he wasn't in the lineup today: [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. Anyway, Javy continues showing signs of growth at the plate. I can't believe this dude is able to recognize pitches. He has to be terrifying to pitch to right now.
  7. Javy only swung at 3 pitches tonight. I figured this was a career low for any game he started. But there was a game on 9/22/2015 in which Javy also only swung at 3 of 12 pitches. That game was also a shutout of the Brewers. The '15 game was a near immaculate game at the plate for Javy, as he swung at all 3 pitches in the strike zone and let all 9 out of the zone pass. But the stupid ump, being a stupid ump, punished young Javy's patience by calling 3 of them strikes. After his shocking restraint led to an 0-3 night with a K, one can't fault Javy for never taking a pitch for the next 2 years. I checked the game thread for that game and nobody even mentioned anything about Javy because some guy was busy compiling 11 K's in a CGSO, lowering his ERA to 1.88 and locking down the Cy Young award.
  8. I'd like to see Tommy at second simply because he wouldn't need to take a trebuchet onto the field with him to get the ball over to first base.
  9. he was only really impressive in 1 start. in his other 2 "good" ones he struck out a total of 3 guys He's been really weird. Since his slider has abandoned him, he's thrown way more sinkers and way fewer sliders the last two years. But this year he's bumped it up a notch even. He's basically all but discarded the slider and just pumps in sinkers nonstop. But last year he went from being an elite contact manager to really meh in that regard. His GB% dropped all the way down near league average and his exit velocity numbers were in the bottom half of the league. But he's got a horsefeathers ton of grounders and he's 10th among starters in exit velocity this year. Maybe he finds a second life as some weirdo pitch-to-contact guy if he can keep a good grasp on his command -- which he wasn't able to do the last two years. But he still would frighten me if I were a Phillies fan after some of the horsefeathers I saw him go through the last two years. At times, it really seems like he's hanging on by threads. But he'll probably still be on top of his game enough to be worth 3+ wins.
  10. The Brewers scouts did a poor job preparing for an NSBB game thread spot starter they were seeing for the first time.
  11. It's a shame he's working from behind in the Cy Young race after the slow start.
  12. I don't care if they are routine plays for other center fielders, I love watching Almora play defense.
